Seeing the self mutilation is just too scary, and sad😭.. it's about time his pain is healed
The self mutilation has to stop!

I think it was effective to a certain extent to show the self-loathing and pain but now the use of such scenes is too excessive. Plus, it is not really the right message to send across - it is not okay to harm yourself. I must say that HC is so convincing that I actually have to look away occasionally (such as the pen scene) but apart from appreciating the acting, the scenes are not really necessary to progress the story or develop the character.

If they want to build a dark story, so be it. If they want to show a male lead lonely & without love, so be it. But here the CVs have an accomplished lead who does full justice to his role & then some. The intensity of his plight is not lost on viewers. So, is it necessary to travel the self-induced torture route as often as they have done recently? I don't think so.

I agree with Bujee...with an impressionable kid in the house, I am not watching this show anymore on TV. Even while viewing it alone, I was unable to watch the dipping of the pen in the hand wound scene and took my eyes off the screen. I do wish that this aspect is toned down pronto.

I think these kind of scenes have served their purpose and makers have now been successful in showing us what happens when one internalizes the pain to such an extent, is depressed beyond measure, the only way to find the outlet for it is through self harm. Yes, we all get it. Now it is time for the makers to show that, help is available for these kind of issues. Please show a gradual process where Sahir learns to deal with and overcome his pain in a non-self destructing way with Arzoo's help.

Yes,please heal this self mutilation. We do not want to see our hero doing this. It is actually very creepy if you are faced with such a person in real life. And with all of us loving the leads so much...we cant see it

Very valid post Raji. 👍🏼
My biggest problem with self-mutilation as shown in the show is that off-late it is being used excessively. The first time they showed it they backed it up with an instance where Arzoo is able to see the wounds, think about it and find a way to help Sahir, thus reaching, reacting and alleviating that pain.

But now the repetition is too much and not getting us anywhere. It is not helping the story move as of now because Sahir and Arzoo are so far apart at this point, how will Arzoo even know he's doing this? So is there a point in depicting all this pain? By now, after some 60 odd episodes I think they have established that Sahir is a tortured man. There is something from his past that is gnawing at him, so much that he seeks to hurt himself and feel physical pain to nullify the emotional pain. Ok, I get it. I understand. There is no need to repeat it and make each time more morbid than the last one!

What we really want to see is this man starting to heal somehow. And that reason and source has to be ARzoo. With an apathetic family that neither knows or cares about this there is no one else to help him. So far we have seen him being pushed to the depths of sorrow. I think soon the makers have to start focusing on his revival. They need to start showing him on the mend, otherwise this show will become too negative. They need to give hope to their viewers and live up to their initial promise that this was a journey where two broken souls unite and heal each other. Even their Dargah episode promised that and I hope they deliver on that and start that process without much delay.

Yes i support the csuse self harm indicates that the person is in dire need of psychological help...and such glorification should be avoided as it sends wrong message

I agree with points being made that Saahir needs healing. Sure? But Arzoo helping him? After knowing the Saahir almost risked her life any life respecting or self-respecting girl would stay miles away from him. Unless she is a doormat like Nausheen. Since I sincerely hope they dont turn her into one as I need one character I can relate to. The concept of Humsafars are two souls that heal in each other. Well so far Saahir has only done damage to Arzoo. I have said this before and I will say it again. It takes two to tango and both must be equally engaged. So if Saahir wants any kind of help from Arzoo he should at least take inntiative by taking actions to redeem himself not just feeling guilty. Puppy doll faces seemed to have replaced redemption on tv ever since Gul and her agressive heroes with their sob stories became popular. The first time they tried to show Saahir healing track they almost completely butchered Arzoo by making her rub a married man's bare back and forget about her self-respect and move into Niyammat house.

If anything if they seek to show a positive message about depression and show that those that are depressed need to seek help. Than Saahir should seek counseling first before getting into any type of relationship with anyone. As of right now he is both a threat to himself and to others as he has also put Arzoo's life into danger. And she had done absolutely nothing to provoke him either. It was his own obsession with money. So he is unpredictably dangerous both to himself and others. So he should at least start anti-depressants or therapy sessions with supervision if he wants any additional help from a third party.
