The point being made by Rishi (not the Sharma parivaar) was right in essence. Principles without practicality is not possible in the world we live in today. Idealists in a practical, rough world tend to suffer more. South Indians on the forum would be familiar with the K Balachander film "Varumayin Niram Sivappu" (Zara Si Zindagi in Hindi) a film that dealt with this subject really well. Die hard fans, please do not kill me for comparing HD with it.
Indira is right too. The real world does function with money, but money ill-earned or money disrespected is of no use. Rishi admits his mistake, but more than once, Indira used the word 'aham' for him. Wonder what she was referring to because there was no trace of aham (ego or self importance) in whatever he said. He admitted his mistake and said that he would rectify it, but was in no mood to reason with her beyond a point. So, the line that she had drawn with chalk is made more permanent by him.
He used the word "ghamand" on her and even though there may be no pride in Indira, her highhandedness is often interpreted as that. But I did not understand why Rishi was so glad to have the nikamma parivaar on his side. If I were him, I would be heartbroken.
The party on Rishi's side of the lakshmanrekha and the absolute penury on Indira's side were slightly overdone. Meher sponsored the food and wine and everyone was happy to have it. This is what the writers want to show and so this is what we'll see. I was glad they showed Rishi trying to send her the food despite knowing fully well that she will refuse it. I wish her reaction to that was not so extreme "mujhe unse koi lena dena nahin rakhna" or some such. But again, this is how the writers want this, so...
Ten days later, we will see Rishi and his aham bite the dust, I suppose. Because this track cannot end any other way. Lets see if they get him to return the money which he so desperately wants to return. However this track unfolds, I'm pretty sure its going to be OTT and not in the least sensitive.
