Two posts in a day! Sorry for inflicting myself on you folks in this manner, but I thought this deserved its own discussion space.

There are just a couple of things in today's epi that are worth dwelling on.

Rishi maintained complete silence when he was being questioned about Zara. He had no answer. Zara stepped in and denied that they had married. Some of us had expected that she would be the next mahaan person in the hallowed environs of Sharma Nivas. So she lived up to expectations.

But this sudden volte-face by Rishi has really jolted her. She is beginning to ask the questions that she should have asked much sooner. She was perhaps feeling so secure in the love that Rishi promised her that she never thought of questioning her identity (except the once when Malik uses it against her). I really felt bad for her. She trusted him, trusted her instinct, and is now feeling let down. Right now, she does not belong anywhere. She is not even comfortable with her name because Malik gave her one identity and Rishi convinced her about another.

Anyway, she is on a mission now. She is down, but not out. Her first words to Rishi when he apologizes to her on the staircase indicate how she feels about the role he played in bringing her into this situation. She remembers his uncertainty and vacillation when she had raised the point that she may not be Indira. She asks him why he protested so loudly even when the entire family was of the opinion that the Lahorewali was NOT Indira. In effect, she is trying to find out what makes him so convinced that this Lahorewali is his Shrimatiji. She is also indirectly asking him why he put these doubts aside and married her.

And to this, Rishi's response is "Saare saboot cheekh cheekh kar keh rahe hain ki woh hi Indira hai" Even now, I am unable to understand how Rishi's mind is working. She is unable to as well. So, to state the truth to him because he will not do so himself, she asks him, "Aur aapka dil bhi yehi keh raha hai na?"

"Lekin iska matlab yeh toh nahin ki mera pyaar khatam ho gaya aapke liye"

She cannot believe her ears. (Neither can I.) She cannot also believe that she loves this man who is perhaps totally confused about what love is.

He tries to tell her how great she is because she is setting him free to do what he likes while she tries to resolve her issues on her own. But she puts that in perspective right away by telling him that she is doing because she is driven by her own need to know who she is and where she stands in the entire scheme of things.

I am now really confused about Rishi. What does he see happening between Zara and himself? What shape does he foresee this relationship taking? I don't know what tomorrow's episode holds for us in terms of Rishi-Zara, but I am not sure how Rishi is thinking of this relationship. He is clearly happy to care for the Lahorewali, but until he takes his relationship with Zara to some sort of conclusion (by taking a decision on his own without being influenced by anything or anyone) his conscience cannot rest easy.

This is NOT a Rishi bashing post. I am really looking for a meaningful discussion. Especially after the few words that Rishi and Zara exchanged today, I don't know what to make of him.

I have taken to writing really long posts! Thanks for bearing with me.

Kanan (I believe this is your name- correct me if I'm wrong)- I'm shocked to see this post from you! I thought you would be the last person to expect any kind of logic or thoughtfulness from HD :)
Regarding your questions, there is only one answer- the writers strange obsession with Indira and her greatness and Zindagi jung hai. The rest of the characters are just mere props who get moved around as per their convinience to fulfill this basic premise. The need of the hour is for the real Indira to struggle and discover her identity- therefere everyone else has to stand against her. If it wasn't for Rishi's lack of a brain and now heart (rooh ki awaz), this track would have been done with eons ago.

Yep, Kanan it is.

I think I was fairly disappointed with the dialogues that were given to Rishi today. It was a fresh let down.

There we go...I don't know the point of clarifying over and over that I am not a basher. But its of little consequence. Whoever does not want to get the point of a post, will not.

Hey. At first i want to tell here love is not the seasonal fruit which will change its colour, at first it was shown rishi accepting zara the way she is, for the world indira was dead, now rishi is standing at juncture where his past and present are both before him, today indira's condition is not that way to discuss these all issues, and she needs rishi the most, so the acts of rishi were totally just according to me, it would have been cheating only if rishi denied about the love he had for zara, he loved her with true heart, not just because of her body which resembles indira but because of her soul, so the statement of rishi that he loves zara shouldnt be kept into controversy. So please before questioning rishi, you can question zara why she didn't asked rishi before "if life brings back indira, then whom he ll choose"

Welcome to the club:) The writers want to continue this Indira mystery. They also want to keep both the Indiras in SN (so the real Indira can see her family having fun times with the LW so that her life can be truly miserable). They also want Rishi to maintain a relationship with both in case either one turns out to be Indira. So in all of this, Rishi becomes the sacrificial lamb.
This takes me to my basic problem with HD. The writers are not writing to tell a story about characters and their relationships. They are writing to propogate a character and their basic premise of zindagi jung hai. For this reason, I don't think I can fairly judge any of the other characters in HD- because it is not their story- they are mere props to propogate the central theme.
