I loved this scene! So many little nuances that I loved...I'm still watching the "Main kitni badnaseeb hoon na, Rishi?" part over and over...
I love 'Zindagi Jung Hai' - it's such a beautifully rendered song, with poignant lyrics...Very touching, the way it was placed within the episode.A few little things that I love about the conversation between Rishi and Indira...Indira's "thanks" and the way Rishi tries to shrug off her thanks by undermining his own actions..."Thoda sa smart ho gaya hoon main bhi aapke saath rehte rehte, aur kuch nahi hai, Makaanmalkin ji..." I thought that was a very sweet thing for him to say. I also noticed that the worried expression on his face never quite goes away - his concern for Indira's feelings is clearly evident in his eyes. The "aankhon se paani nikal raha hai" bit was also very sweet...Rishi is aware of Indira's pain, but he also knows that she probably wouldn't want him to know that she's so affected by this whole fiasco...But when she actually turns to him, with her eyes shining with unshed tears, we can see that she knows what he was trying to do and that she's grateful for it...When Rishi tentatively reaches over to brush the tear off of Indira's cheek, she doesn't move away from him...She doesn't stop him or try to resist, but she's not in a submissive stance, either. She allows him to do that, and I thought it was quite significant (and a nice touch) that Rishi was more hesitant about that than she was...He knows her quite well, and he's sensitive to her feelings."Issiliye main aapko jaane nahi dena chahta tha..." There's no need for a prelude to the conversation because he knows that she's hurt and he can't bear to see that. I think Indira sees the genuine pain in Rishi's eyes because she turns away and a tear is rolling down her cheek (just like that earlier episode from this week) and she even acknowledges how much he is concerned about her...Quite a bittersweet realization: "Main...main kitni badnaseeb hoon na, Rishi?"This next part just pierced my heart, it was so well-written and well-enacted! I've always loved that background tune, so it was a surprise to hear it in this scene at such a crucial point. Every little gesture was lovely: Rati's expressions as Rishi asks Indira what she said...Sumit's expressions and frantic tone as Rishi registers what Indira has just said but needs to confirm it..the way Indira reiterates, "Kitni badnaseeb hoon main" and Rishi immediately (anxiously) says, "Nahi, nahi! Uske baad..."And finally, the way Indira turns, looks at him as if to nonverbally state, "Your name..." "Rishi." As if it's the most natural thing in the world...Aah, Rati and Sumit were exceptional! I also have to give thanks to the writers who penned such a beautiful scene with such simple yet significant dialogues. The dialogues in the Rishi-Indira interactions have always been great...Today's episode, though, had their best scene yet. Subtle, soft, yet extremely important.
I'm with you 100% on your whole post. This is definitely one of my favourite episodes from this show and just after she said his name the first time before the tune went on did you hear that sound? It sounded like a big boom sound (loved it) and when he he asks her do you know why you said my name for the 1st time today, didn't the tune sound haunting briefly (sort of operaish)?
Loved it!⭐️⭐️
