When they walked out. They saw that a group of students had gathered.
The trio walked towards the crowd to see what was happening.
James was throwing Jinxes at Snape. And Snape dodging them and jinxing him.
James muttered some spell and Snape was suspended in the thin air.
Everyone laughed, as his robes went upside down and they could see his underpants.
'James!' Lily shouted automatically.
James turned around to see Lily staring at him angrily.
'Lily. I can explain…..' James tried to explain, but Lily cut him short.
'Explain what? I thought you changed!'
'I did'
'Oh no. you haven't…. still the same old pathetic potter!'
She scremed.
Lily was happy that James had turned to be so nice. And now she knew she was wrong.
Lily muttered a counter curse and Snape got back to his feet.
She gave James another look of total loathe and walked away.



'Chill prongs' Sirius said.
'Yeah sure!'
'come on man…'
'What? Lily almost thought that im a nice guy. and now this thing spoilt everything!'

' I worked so hard on impressing her…and snape spoilt it. Damn him'

Lily was waiting for him outside the common room.
Neither of them opened their mouth.
They went to slughorns office.
Professor Slughorn was just giving them the instructions when, a student came in and told professor that the headmaster was calling them.
He apologized and walked off, leaving the two of them, waiting for his return.
James broke the ice.
'You always come at the wrong time'
'Yeah right. And the other time, you clean his feet?' 'You dont even know what happened'

'I thought you changed you're still the arrogant, capricious, whimsical toe rag!'
'SHUT UP LILY!' James couldn't take it anymore.
'Yeah maybe I am arrogant but does that mean that you have been less rude?'
Lily just stared at him.
'you've been always saying things to me. But I never said anything back! And that does not mean that I don't have any feelings!'
'Lily looked at him with disbelief.
'Snape hexed me first. And I did what every normal being does, defend myself…but what did you see? Me hexing him….'

'I have been trying everything to impress you. I stopped troubling and hexing the juniors. Slytherins are an exception! But apart from that….I've done everything you wanted me to.
You wanted Gryffindor to win the match. I tried not getting detentions and practiced my team hard! But even then I was impulsive. You dint like me asking you out. Even though it was hard, I stopped. I've been doing everything it takes to make you think that im not such a bad guy! Tell me has there been a day when you haven't mentioned that I am the biggest loser on earth? That I am whimsical, mendacious et cetera?'
Lily would die with guilt.
' I am sorry james……I dint know it would hurt you so much'
'Of course you dint!....you dint care when you hurt me, but you cared when I hurt snape!'

He noticed that there was something between them.

'Fine…don't! Am sorry if I have ever troubled you. Wouldn't make the mistake of talking to you again!' He said and walked off.
Just then professor entered.
'Potter where are you going?'
'Sir….my heads aching badly' he said and walked off, without waiting for a reply.
And Lily stood there.
She was hurt.
It wouldn't have hurt so much if anyone had ripped off her chest, taken her heart out and kicked it!
She never thought that James would feel like that.
But he was right.
And he wasn't speaking to her now!

James threw another stone in the lake.
He dint know what made him say all that.
But he felt better.

When James retuned to the common room. He headed straight to his room, without looking at anyone.
The other marauders were there.
'Lily gave you this' Peter said handing him a note.
James took the note from peters hand and read:
Dear James,
I am extremely sorry. I never meant to hurt you so much.
Maybe because you never said anything, I continued to scream at you.
I am sorry. And there is nothing between snape and me.I know you will not want me to talk to me again..…..am sorry…

The three girls went to hogs head. They spotted the marauders in one corner, chatting and laughing.

They walked up to them with Lily nervously following them. Hannah asked them 'Can we join you?'

They all nodded with a smile.

They pulled out three chairs for them.

And Lily got to sit enxt to James.

He was staring at his bottle of butterbeer.
