Phenomenon of HP Series ... - Your Take?

Hello People,

A thought struck me today , on my way to work , as I watched people on the train catching up on the earlier books of the HP series ... on their way to work...."HP series is a sort of a phenomenon, in its own right...and everyone's got their own reasons as to why they are hooked/ addicted to these series"

From the age of 6 - 60, many find the books an addiction, a refreshing change , and some well... have qualms about how the books are affecting the younger generation kids... (never mind 'em...😆)

So what is your reason for your addiction, is it jus abt Magic, or the writer's style, the action... what is the one thing that appeals to you about the HP series... that makes you wanna read it again and again... or keep you addicted...?

its just the whole concept of the book that keeps me addicted 2 it..the way jo describes stuff it makes it sound soo real that u can actually picture evertythin in ur head..

like punk princess said i just love the whole concept of the book, the way that JKR has introduced the concept of magic as if it were a real life thing.

nice topic.....its d uncommon concept dey mstly attracts me.......n of course i hsv 2 say JKR's ritin is one of d htngs i luv mst in hp series...

As for me .. I was living in hostel for about 2-3 years .. so whenever I read Harry potter books .. they remind me of myself and my behavior towards some of the situations .. where decision making is impossible without parents .. so yeah .. and I really like J.K.'s choice of words and the imagination .. "Magical World" 😊 😊

As for the magic aspect..I like it as hers is the best explanation on magic I have ever read. Most books give a very vague and incomplete info on magic and most probably it is only the main protagonist who can do magic and that too...it suddenly erupts out of him...from his hands or feet
Jo has created a complete society and a whole commuity of magic..a society which has the same human flaws of greed, manipulations, psychopaths, poverty, bigotry, wars and destruction and much more.
In short, her world isn't the perfect lil place with all people being goody goody two shoes, like in all the magical books
Plus I love the characterization very much. It rocks!👏 You can't say it's a children's book or adult book coz, as the protagonist has grown up..so have the books...and I find that very unique and I doubt I would find this in any series I have read so far.

And one thing I loved was..she gave friendship preference over romance...and the love stories are always in the background and used as comic sub plots. Not only friendship..she has shown so many different types of relationships an the impact they have on the protagonist...
I am well fed up of the cliched romancing in almost every book I read

i personally think tht the HP books are a perfect blend of all genres.........be it romance,adventure,drama,comedy,fantasy. 😳
JKR's writing is truly commendable 👏
