true...but the weird thing in it all was how he killed dumbledore...he just walked up and did it like a casual thing...it seemed cowardly, the way he did it

Well, I was really really shocked when Dumbledore died..but u know wat i found funny...Dumbledore and Voldemort's short names - Dumby and Voldy - 😆. Anyways, I really didn't like the fact that there probably was going to be no Hogwarts in the next book 😭. In the last line of the last book, I think J.K. Rowling will say this is all true! That would be scary wouldn't it? But I have had this in my mind since a long time..just wanted to know wat the rest of u think. Since even in the books muggles don't know and wizards couldn't just pop up and say look we do magic 'cause then the rest of us (muggles) will die out of shock...so they used books as a means of slowly spreading the idea and making it familiar. And they put like spell on it to make ppl come and read the book and continue reading and loving it 'cause idk I have never read any book with so much interest and stuff. Anyways, this really sounds stupid but just an idea.😉

Snape's gone through a lot during his childhood. James and Sirius used to tease him, and from what we saw of young Snape, we realise that he was definitely not popular. Not surprising that it brought down his self-esteem. I think, Harry calling him a coward seem to bring back all those memories in a rush. He gets touchy about these kind of things, because he's been through them way too much and doesn't want to go through them again.

That's my two cents about it... I'm not a pshychiatrist, I don't know how people's minds work, so it might not make much sense.

This is again far-fetched (that's my idiosyncrasy, folks, so you might want to get used to it) but here's what I think:-

Maybe because of the ring on his hand - the Horcrux - Dumbledore was affected by something because of which he was sure not to survive very long or something horrible might happen to him even if he did survive.

Snape had already known that Voldemort meant him to kill Dumbledore although he had given that work to Draco ("...although I think he means to have do it eventually" or something like that in Spinner's End). He tells this to Dumbledore.

Dumbledore tells him that he should kill him if Draco is unable to do it - again because it MIGHT have something to do with the ring (I can't get the image of that hand out of my mind).

So Dumbledore had actually ordered Snape to kill him some time. Snape found this terribly hard as Dumbledore had been one to believe him and keep him safe all these years.

For him, it was a very, very brave thing to do - killing Dumbledore, and saving him from a possibly worse fate.

So when Harry calls him "Coward", he goes slightly off his rocker.

anya's theory is sort of along the lines that i was thinking...buttt once again....JKR's interview with Emerson and Melissa (MN and TLC, respectively) showed that she was hinting that snape was evil...but then again u never kno with her

~~

oh and abt hogwarts closing..i highly doubt it because Jo (JKR) said in an interview that they would be needing a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher....she's dropping a hint there...now why would u need a new teacher if ur not re-opening? so there u go...

I merely thought up that theory because Snape's reaction to being called a "coward" was what one would term "instantaneous" reaction rather than some roundabout reaction concerning his past. Granted that he can hold grudges for a long, long time, but he isn't idiotic enough to act on them and risk his life - and probably the wizarding world's fate - by doing so.

true...true...

for some odd reason i doubt that snape is touchy over wat James and Sirius did to him...for some reason, i think he is touchy cuz he feels like he's done so much more and he deserves to be treated better (he's killed dumbledore...means he isn't coward..but in the state he killed him...he was cowardly cuz dumbledore had no wand and was in no physical state to fight)...he might feel brave for being a double-quadruple-blah blah blah agent cuz he made it seem like he was a double-agent really working for voldy, but in the end he was working for voldy...ugh..i dunno..i just wish the 7th book were out already

yes..i kno Snape is evil and i agree...even if in the end he isn't evil...i'm still gonna hate him (unless he did something angelic)...but JKR rarely does something straight-forward...so i just thought about "bending" things a little
