Just like some wizarding families have children who cannot perform any magic (a.k.a Squibs like Argus Filch), purely muggle families also end up having a witch or wizard as a child.

Lily Evans, Hermione Granger, Colin and Dennis Creevey are a few examples of witches and wizards from Muggle families.

I assume that All of them get their letters by Owl Post as everyone else does.

JKR herself does not explain how the magical powers come in a person of a non-wizarding family. I guess, that is left to speculation.

actuall what i meant was how hogwarts came to know of magical power in a muggle child....they r the authority to issue the letter for admission.

I think the Ministry has a tracking system for areas where any sort of magic is present. Thats how they knew when Harry almost blew up his aunt and when Dobby levitated the pudding.

Once they detect the magic, they keep an eye on the child possessing the magic and send him/her a letter when he/she turns eleven.

in the 1st book, only Harry's name was registered at the time of birth and his parents were already a witch and wizard.

I dont think Muggleborns have that priviledge.

i mean that the other children who were born with harry could be registered with harry so they could sent the letter to the other children to com to hogwarts....

I'm not sure where I read this, but I do remember reading somewhere that there is an automatic way of finding out when a witch/wizard is born (regardless if he/she is a pure-blood, half-blood or muggle born). Then, when they turn of age (11/12), an owl will be sent to them.

Hope that helps.
