CHAPTER 2
"Tell me again Mrs. Potter, why are we traveling by this carr thing?"
"James, for the last time I am Lily and NOT Mrs. Potter! It has been 8 months since we got married! It's not cute anymore!"
"And if we have to post as muggles, we have to start living like ones." said Alex from the driving seat.
"Why do we have to do that?"
"James, were you even listening to Dumbledore?" asked Sirius. He was a little put off since he had to sit next to Alex in front and he was trying his best to avoid her. She looked just the same. A little older but still the same. The same deep violet eyes he hated. The same shade of burgundy and black but a little longer so it fell an inch below the shoulder.
"Kind of. But I don't understand this muggle stuff. Why do I have to go to a… an office thingy?"
"Because you are to protect muggles and the best way to do is by being between them." explained Alex patiently, throwing back her hair and chewing harder on her gum as she drove.
"Do we still have to live in the same house?" said Sirius a little loudly.
"Yes we do!" said Lily patiently.
"I mean can't she live separately?"
"Why should I be the one to go?"
"Because James and Lily are my best friends and I should be the one to be with them!"
"I am afraid you are stuck with me whether you like it or not!"
Sirius mimicked her behind her back.
"Do you think I can't see you there?" she asked him raising an eyebrow. He mimicked that too.
"Grow up!"
"You are one to talk! You are too young for this mission!"
They started talking at the same time, their voices rising higher and higher till Lily shrieked.
"Stop! Alex! Sirius! Shut up! We have to plan out our lives. You guys have to TRY to put your differences aside for at least till this is over."
They both glared at each other and looked the other way.
"Thank god!" said James, "Thank you Mrs. Potter!"
"You say that once more I am going to divorce you! It is getting on my nerves!"
"Mrs. Potter…"
"I mean it!" she said sternly.

I can NOT do this. He will drive me crazy! Why me? On top of all this I have to work with him. In a muggle office. As his partner. Let's hope I survive. God I hate him. Alex reached out for any outfit she could lay her hands on. It was night and they were just gonna have a take out dinner before going to sleep. Then she was going to help Lily set up the house. Half an hour will do with magic. She pulled out a really long and baggy t-shirt and shorts. She couldn't be bothered with more. She had work to do. She was still an auror in training and had 3 assignments to give in 2 days. She went downstairs.
It was a nice house. The house had wood finish to it. The ground floor was just the living room, dining room and kitchen. The first floor, stairs leading there from the kitchen, had the 4 rooms, two on one side and two on the other with a corridor in-between. She liked the cool feel of the house.
"Hey Alex! We were waiting for you!" said Lily. She was very pretty, wearing white satin pajamas and sitting next to James. Sirius' head was bent over a crossword he was trying to solve.
"Count me out!" he muttered.
"No body is sad that you were not waiting for me!" she grunted as she sat on the seat as far away from Sirius as possible.
"You guys have to learn to get along. After all you have to work together. It is important that two people work as journalists because we need to know what is happening in all parts."
"Why can't it be you two?" asked Sirius.
"Because we have other work!" said James, eating the spaghetti.
"I have to be at Auror camp tomorrow afternoon. And I can't apparate there either."
"Why? Did you fail your apparation test?" asked Sirius snickering.
"FYI, we pose as muggles and so we have to behave as one and use as minimum magic as possible around here. Also, you cannot apparate into auror camp. I guess you wouldn't know since you spent your time applying buckets of gel in your hair to make it go the way it does and choosing your clothes for so long!"
"FYI," he said imitating Alex and looking up, "I do not apply gel in my hair. It is naturally that way."
"That's not what it looked like when I first met you!"
"That was water from the rain!"
"If you say so!" she said disbelievingly as she turned to eat her spaghetti. Sirius flicked his want towards her and her spaghetti turned to worms.
"Ugh!" she shrieked as she jumped up. She then turned angrily towards the laughing Sirius and whipped her wand out.
"So you want to fight? Fine by me!"
Sirius got up and pointed his wand to face hers.
"That's enough for today! Alex, you please finish eating and Sirius take your crossword to your room and do it there!" said James wearily.
"I can't eat that! Not after what he did!"
"Then just get away from each other. We have been together for a few hours and you guys are driving me NUTS!"
Sirius looked angrily at Alex as both of them stormed up the stairs.
"James never ordered me before you came!" he said.
"I suppose you were never snubbed before I came!" she said smiling sarcastically, "see you in the morning!" she went into her room, "Goodnight. NOT!" she screamed before shutting he door close.
"Hope you have nightmares about worms!" yelled Sirius before he shut his door with a bang. You guessed it! They had opposite rooms. Lily and James had the biggest since there were 2 people. Alex opened her door.
"I'll dream that I am feeding them to you. And with some luck I soon WILL!" she said and banged her door for the second time.
This was just the beginning. How were they going to stand each other at work?
