Chapter 3 - In the Quidditch Pitch
After lunch the Marauders made their way to the Quidditch Pitch. James
and Sirius in their Quidditch outfits. James was the Captain and one of the chasers while Sirius was a beater. Remus and Peter were
going along to watch the tryouts. Peter had joined them at lunch and
had made up some wild story about a Thestral chasing him, when they
had asked him where he was during breakfast.
'Ahh! Good Quidditch conditions. Its good to be outside again.' said Sirius.
'Yeah! It's not everyday you have such gorgeous weather.' James replied.
'Did I hear right? Did James call something other than Lily gorgeous?' Sirius
asked smirking.
'Ya I did. But even today's weather is not as gorgeous as Lily,' James said .
'Talking about Lily, how are things with her? I saw you both totally involved with each other during breakfast.' said Remus, raising an eyebrow while Peter sniggered.
'Was he? I never noticed!' said Sirius.
'Have you ever noticed anything while Irene is around?' asked Remus.
'Oh yeah!!!' said Sirius dreamily.
'So what's happened, James?' Peter questioned.
'Oh nothing big. I asked her whether she was coming to watch the tryouts and she said she was coming. That's all.' James said slowly.
'Why did she blush for that?' asked Remus smirking.
'Remus weren't you supposed to be talking to Amy about the Pally Hitler or whatever it's called?' said James firing up.
'Its Palet Hitrok, James. We were talking initially, but then, watching you guys was far more interesting. Anyway don't change the topic, James. Why did Lily blush?' asked Remus.
'Well-'
'Yes?' asked Sirius, joining the conversation.
'I said I was going to give her flying lessons, since she doesn't know to fly.'
'Now that's what I call romance,' said Peter.
'What? We are still friends.'
'Ya but this is a good opportunity to prove that you are her gallant hero…'said Sirius.
'And a prat!' added Remus.
'WHAT?' asked James.
'If you ask me you'll have to be careful, James,' said Remus seriously.
'Why? I see no snag in this Remus.' said Sirius.
'Yes there is! Try to keep your hands off her James. You might drive her mad if you touch her unnecessarily. You might be able to win other girls by your touch-her-and-she'll-fall-for-you-easily method. But like you know, Lily is different. So Beware.' said Remus.
'I'll keep that in mind.' said James.
'So then, Moony, when I saw you BEFORE talking with Lily, you looked quite comfortable with Amy.' asked James watching his friend closely.
Remus flushed a little. 'Oh.'
'Aaahh Our Moony likes someone! So are you going to ask her out?' asked Sirius.
'Don't be stupid, Sirius. How can I?' said Remus.
'Why not?' asked James.
'Why not????? Because I am a werewolf! Need a better reason than that?' snapped Remus.
'Why does that stop you? You look handsome you know and you are a Marauder.' said Sirius.
'Who will want a handsome Marauder werewolf, may I know?' Remus said.
'No one will mind that Remus. Especially Amy!' Peter said soothingly
'And you are just a werewolf for a night a month. All the other times you'r just Remus. The nice, sensible, handsome Remus we like. Dunno why that one lame reason is stopping you, Moony.' said James.
'Thanks guys! 'Remus said.
'Who wants your Thanks?!?!Swear you'll ask her out!' said Sirius.
'Sure.' said Remus smiling and secretly thanking God for giving him such good friends like James and Sirius. Oh... and also Peter.

'Hmmm. Good Weather,' said Irene.
'Yaa superb Quidditch conditions!' said Amy.
'Exactly! That's why I'm saying, Irene, let's go and sit by the lake.' said Lily pleadingly.
'No!' said Amy,' you are watching the tryouts. How can you be so mean, Lily? Your Best friend is flying!'
'I'd come if you were trying out! I've seen you fly for ages! Why should I come? Give me one good reason!' declared Lily, coming to a halt.
'I can give a reason in one word.' said Irene.
'What?' asked Lily knowing what the answer was.
'James.' said Irene.
'What does he have to do with anything? I want to go and sit by the lake.' said Lily blushing.
'Yeah Yeah. I'd have believed that stupid reason if you didn't mention James wanted to teach you flying.' said Amy.
'Great! You figured it out. Now will you let me go?' Lily said moving backwards away from her friends. But both of them caught her hand and started to pull her towards the pitch.
'Come on, Lily, you know James will be disappointed if he knows that you didn't come.' said Irene reproachfully.
'Ya but what will happen if I make a fool of myself before the Captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team?' said Lily.
'You won't make a fool of yourself! Look who is teaching you! James - your FRIEND, the best chaser on the team, the best flier in Hogwarts! 'Said Amy.
'I think you fly better than James.' said Lily trying to change the topic.
'Nope, he flies better.' said Amy.
'Come on Lily he'll teach you well! And I'm sure he won't let the love of his life fall down!' said Irene.
'Oh Whatever! I'll come.OK? Quit pulling me you guys, I won't run back,' said Lily trying to wrench her hands out of her friends grasps.
'Sorry Lily we don't believe you,' said Amy.
'What kind of friends are you? You don't even believe me!' said Lily hotly.
'We call ourselves your Best Friends. And I think we know you enough to guess what you'll do next!' said Irene.
Lily smiled. They knew her well alright! If they had let her go she would have run back. They were the best kind of friends a girl like Lily could get.
Irene March. A perfect princess. She was the prettiest girl in Hogwarts. All the boys swarm around her like bees. But she always had her eyes on just one male in Hogwarts.Sirius Black. She was the best in solving all kind of relationship problems. She was excellent in Charms like Lily and was simply horrible in Potions unlike Lily. She was a pure blood and was generally the one explaining things in the Magical Worlds to both Lily and Amy.
Amy Locke. A wild sports girl. She was the opposite of Irene. Never cared about her looks. But still had a kind of casual smartness which neither Lily nor Irene could even dream about. She was good in all the lessons, but loathed Transfiguration. She was a half blood and was brought up in the
Muggle World and hence was at sea whenever Lily was.
Lily was a combination of both her friends. Both Irene and Amy had always looked up to her. But she had always thought that she was not as special as the both of them.
She was indeed very lucky to have friends like them. They knew what Lily wanted, better than Lily herself. Like James.

Lily and Irene found seats next to Remus and Peter. The team came out of the changing room, performed a warm up lap around the pitch and as they landed, James winked at Lily and Lily surprised herself by winking back. 'LILY YOU IDIOT! Why did you wink back? Thank God Irene didn't see
that' Lily thought furiously to herself. It was as though James could read her mind, he grinned at her and went to address all those who had turned up for the tryouts.
As James was yelling at a second year who had banged into one of the goal posts trying to catch the Quaffle, Irene nudged Lily and asked her to see Amy. Lily saw Amy waving and she waved back. But then was shocked to see that she was not waving to her but to but at Remus and was even more shocked to see Remus waving back with a slight flush on his cheeks. Irene and Lily smirked at each other. It was high time Amy liked somebody.
After the tryouts, nearly dusk, Irene bid Lily Good Luck ran to Sirius and Remus went to Amy and said something and they too exited the pitch after Irene and Sirius though they were not snogging. Only Peter and Lily were left in the pitch. Lily had no idea where James went. She was just about to leave the pitch herself, thinking that James was busy. But then...
'Lily?' said Peter.
'Ya?' said Lily.
'I have a message,' Peter said looking around to see if anyone was there.
'A message?' 'From whom? James?' asked Lily.
'No. Its from..er..,'
'Yes?'
'From..,'
'Lily, sorry to keep you waiting. Had to give Benny some tips,' said James appearing suddenly out of nowhere.
'No Problem James,' said Lily and then looked at Peter. 'From whom Peter?'
'What? No one,' said Peter agitatedly.
'What no one?' asked James confused.
'Oh nothing. Gotta go. Lots of homework. Bye!' Peter said running away.
'What's with him? He said he had a message from someone,' said Lily confused.
'I dunno. Anyway we have better things to worry about. Come on,' said James full of energy.
'James. I don't know about this. I might be hopeless you know,' said Lily.
'I know Lily but what is said is said. Sorry,' said James solemnly.
'I can't believe you are enjoying this! Oh Alright! But on one condition,' said Lily.
'What's that?' asked James.
'You should not laugh. Ok? 'asked Lily.
'Ok Ok.' said James seriously.' Well what are we waiting for then? Here take my broom.'
'What your broom? James you can't be serious! This is a SILVER ARROW. What if something happens to it?' asked Lily.
'Don't worry about that. Your lessons are important. Besides the school brooms are not that good,' said James while Lily smiled. James quickly looked away from that pretty smile and reminded him of what Moony said.
'So now, first step. Stand to the left side of your broom and say "Up",' James instructed.
This took Lily sometime. And Lily had already got enough about flying even before she mounted on the broom.
'Good you got that. Now mount on your broom. No.. No.. Don't hold so tight. You won't be able to steer,' said James loosening Lily's grip on the broom and Lily found herself growing hot.
'That's better. Now kick the ground lightly and just hover up. Remember to catch hold tightly,' he instructed.
'WHAT? We are flying so soon?' asked Lily shocked.
'Yes,' said James amused at Lily's expression,' and WE aren't flying YOU are flying. Come on. Kick.'
Lily kicked and quickly closed her eyes. She felt the air blowing on her face and held more tightly to the broom.
'Lily, you are doing fine, open your eyes!' James shouted.
'James bring me down!!! I'm scared!' yelled Lily, fear pressing her heart on all sides.
'Open your eyes, Lily! You are not that high ,'said James.
'I WONT! BRING ME DOWN,' yelled Lily, tears sliding down her cheeks without her approval.
'Alright! Hang on,' said James rushing to the broom cupboard and picked up one of the school brooms and flew towards Lily and held her arm. 'Ok I am holding you. Open your eyes.'
And Lily opened her eyes to find herself about 10 feet above the ground and James holding her arm tightly looking completely windswept.
'I'm sorry. I didn't even try,' said Lily not looking into James' eyes.
'It's just your first try. You're bound to get scared,' said James.' So do you want to go down now?'
'NO.I want to fly,' said Lily hating herself. She didn't want to disappoint James.
'Now that's my Lily! Ok now you have your balance, just try to turn to your left,' said James letting go of her hand. Lily not expecting this lost her balance and fell off her broom yelling.
'LILY!!!!' James shouted as he raced towards the falling Lily thanking his 5 years worth Quidditch reflexes and caught her about 3 feet away from the ground and landed on the ground.
'Lily stop scaring me li....'James started but before he could finish Lily was crying on him. She put her arms around him and pulled him close. James was completely thrown off guard.
What should I do? Follow Remus' advise or..? But he forgot Remus' advise and put his arms around her. She's had a shock man! Help her and stop thinking.
'Nothing happened Lily. Stop crying. Calm down,' said James trying to calm that hysterically crying Lily.
After what seemed like hours to Lily and seconds to James, Lily pulled away.
'I'm sorry James. I am such a klutz! I've wasted your time completely. I am so very sorry,' said Lily wiping away the tears.
'No problem, Lily. I have to accept flying is not your thing. Maybe we should discover some sport that you can play with your feet on the ground,' James suggested.
'Good idea! We could even promote it by arranging tournaments!!' Lily said brightly.
'Yeah!!' said James.
And then the both started laughing. Laughing like mad. They laughed and laughed for such a long time. Each time they calmed down they caught each other's eyes and started to laugh again.
When they finally stopped, it was dark and they made way to the castle together after James had changed to his school robes. Just before they entered the doors of the castle...
'James,' Lily called softly.
'Yeah?' James asked.
Lily kissed gently on his cheek.
James face flushed furiously.' What was that for?' he asked stupidly and then practically hit himself on the head for asking that while Lily giggled.
'For teaching me, for saving me, for calming me and for cheering Me.' she said.
At this James kissed her cheek and Lily blushed so much that one couldn't differentiate between her hair and her face.
'You are supposed to ask, "What was that for". But anyway it was for kissing me. It was just what I wanted,' whispered James and Lily turned around and said 'Bye' in a small voice and ran into the doors leaving James behind to whoop all he wanted.

i have no ideas for 4th chap so it might take sum time to update
please review and add up some ideas for the future chaps.Make the ideas small so it fits.And.... the next chap is a general chap.Has nothing special.It might have some huge conversation between our little sweethearts or might have the 1st hogsmede weekend(but James and Lily will not go out together") or Snape may make an entry or there may be a prank.remeber these 'or's r just my little ideas.no promise it might come.But i think Snape will make is entry.
Plz dont forget those ideas.
