When do u ppl think is HP's B'Year? We all know the day,its 31st July, for sure. There are different theories about the year and we can't say that this one's right or that ones wrong. What I mean is we all talk about Harry as a real character, dont we? So it wud be nice to see how old do u imagine him to be? Mugglenet says his birthyear is 1980. This is in accordance with the fact that the idea of a boy wizard popped into JK Rowling around that time at a train stn so that wud make him 25 yrs old now.
I've a different view. Well, the first book came out in 1997. So that's when I got to know Harry for the first time and going 11yrs back b'coz he was 11 in the first book, his B'year comes to be 1986.Its the same as mine which makes him exactly a month older than me 😳 . I've always thought of him as being of the same age as me.
I've got friends who relate to Harry throu' Dan so that makes him around 15 for them.
It wud be nice to know what every1 thinks about it 😊 .
Actually, Mugglenet is correct on this point ...I had independently figured out Harry's real age based on the books and I saw that my deduction was correct based on HP Lexicon.
Take COS (Bloomsbury Edition) as a reference with Nearly Headless Nick's Deathday.
p. 99: "Well this Halloween will be my five hundredth death day..." said NHN
p. 102: "...an enormous grey cake in the shape of a tombstone, with tar-like icing forming the words,
Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington
Died 31st October, 1492"
Hence, when the COS was opened, it was 1992 (1492 + 500) and Harry was 12 years old at that time.
So, he was born in 1980, which makes him 25 years old now.
