Both Lily and James started the meeting, issued 'patrolling the corridors' schedules, read the rules for taking off points, and ended the meeting one hour later by Lily stating, "The first official meeting will be tomorrow at 5 PM in Professor McGonagall's classroom. Alright then, meeting adjourned!"

"So....Lilykins!" James said when they were alone, winking at her, "You know.....we do have to plan the Hogsmeade trips and I was thinking....one month from now sounds delightful, and I am free, so...."

"First of all, Potter," Lily snapped, whirling around to face him, "I am not going out with you! Alright? So leave me alone! And second of all, we still have to meet with Professor Dumbledore before planning anything!" With that, she flipped her hair and left the compartment with her nose in the air.

"ooh i love when she does that" said james with a chuckle.
"james will you stop doing that you are head boy now you have to be serious with your job and you have to respect others" said remus
ahh mooney wud you quit it its our last year in Hogwarts I am just enjoyin myself wud you relax a bit be like me and padfoot"
"yeah whatever i cant relax bcoz the full moon is in 4 days i hope everything goes well now that i am a prefect" said lupin with a deep sigh"
come on now we will headoff to our other friends they must be waiting for us" said james with a playful tone.

"Aargh! He drives me so crazy!" Lily growled as she dropped to her seat back in her own compartment. Alice looked up from the wizard's chess game she was playing with their other best friend, Mary MacDonald, and raised her eyebrows.

"Now what happened, Lills?" Mary asked, winking at Alice. Mary, a small plump girl with brown hair and bronze eyes, was a Half Blood and also a seventh year Gryffindor. She, Lily, and Alice were the best of friends since their first year, and knew everything about each other.

"uhh that james potter makes me so crazy. who made him the head boy something is definitely wrong. he makes my blood boil. He is so incompetent. Firstly he was late for the meeting and then then he was flirting with me and also he wasn't at all sorry for his delay" lily growled.
"its ok just don't pay him any attention"mary said
"how am i gonna do that I am head girl and we have to make decisions together" lily said
"just talk about work and then ignore him" said alice with a warm smile on her face her .
and with this lily's mood completely changed

"Prongs, I think you should be a bit different around Lily this year," Remus said as they entered their own compartment. Sirius and Peter looked up.

"Different? Why does he have to be any different?" Sirius asked incredulously, "It's Evans's loss if she doesn't like him."

"Jee, thanks Padfoot," James said wryly, sighing as he flopped onto his seat, "But what do I do Remus? She hates the sight of me!"

"Deflate your head a bit," Remus offered, "Stop ruffling your hair when you're around her, stop picking on the Slytherins when you see her, especially leave Snape alone, etc etc..." When he saw James's expressions, Remus said, "Come on James, Snape is Lily's best friend! She's not going to give you a chance if you constantly pick on him."

"Really?" James asked despondently, sighing.

"Yes, really" replied Remus, in a tone of an exhausted parent. The friends then settled into comfortable conversations about the upcoming year. James however, was silently thinking that maybe Remus was right, maybe he did need to change, for Lily to notice him. That thought set his resolve.

Ignoring Sirius's snickers, James pinned his Head Boy pin onto his robes and told his friends, "Well, I suppose I have to patrol the train corridors and make sure everyone's set."

"Ay ay, Captain, er - Head Boy!" Sirius said with a mock solute. James swiped at his head playfully but missed because Sirius dove to the floor in a fit of laughter. Shaking his head, he left the compartment to look for Lily.

"POTTER!!! Where have you been!!!? We're almost at the station and we still have final patrols to supervise plus get the first years together for the trip across the lake!" Lily all but screamed when she saw him walking down the corrider.

"Sorry Lily, I lost track of time. I can do the patrols if you like, while you organize the first years, so we can save some time." James said as sincerely as he could. The change of tactic took Lily off guard who had expected an off beat remark from Potter, after her tirade.

"Sure, that sounds good." Lily said uncertainly, as she gave a quizzical look as James walked down the corrider to supervise patrols.

But just then, Hagrid's loud booming voice broke through the crowd of first years and beckoned them to the long line of boats. Lily grinned as Hagrid waved at her and called out, "How r'ya Lily?"

"I'm fine Hagrid, hope you're alright? See you at the feast!" Lily shouted back. Hagrid waved and left with the children.

Through the crowd of older students, Lily spotted Severus, murmuing to his friends Avery and Nott. Her nose wrinkled as she saw Nott and Avery's sneers and leers at the younger girls. "They're disgusting," she thought, shaking her head, "What does Sev see in them?" Just then, Severus caught her eye and he reddened slightly, biting his lip before reluctantly turning his back to her. Lily sighed sadly but perked up as Alice and Mary came closer to her.

"Let's find a carriage, shall we?" Mary asked, linking her arms with Lily and Alice's.
