Why do you like the Harry Potter Series

Hi Everyone,

I was just reading a comparison between the Twilight books and the Harry Potter books, and this question occured to me.

Why do you like the Harry Potter Books? What specifically drew you in and kept you in this magical world? Is it the characters, the plot, the writing style or just the popularity of the book just made you want to read it more?

For me, one of the reasons I loved the books was the fact that it drew me into a world, that my rational mind knew could never exist but my heart wished did exist. The world created was so complete that I would gladly pay a million dollars (if I had the money) to spend a day in Hogwarts or Diagon Alley!

So thats one of the reason I love the book, why do you all love it?

well i like the HP series bcz of the characters n the story of an ordinary boy who thn turn into an xtraordinary boy n also luv to read abt those magics

i rd the first Harry Potter book whn i was lke about 14! now im 18! and i've read all of them about 4-5 times! lol! you may thnk i'm crazy! wll i just love it! because of the characters, all the different extrodinary magic and the way she wote it! it just makes you love it!

Awesome topic!

Firstly, the storyline was what drew me towards reading the book in the first place. I love fantasy stories and this sounded like something I'd never read before so I gave it a shot... and boy, am I glad that I did! This is the first book that I have ever read in which the story is completely unbelievable... I mean, who believes that there are wizards and spells and magic? But JKR wrote it in such a way, that you're half convinced that maybe such stuff could exist somewhere... or at least you wish with all your heart that it could!

Secondly, the writing was absolutely amazing. The characters, even the minor ones like Tom the barman and the lady who sells snacks on the Hogwarts Express are portrayed so realistically. The quality of the writing is perfect... I've never noticed a grammatical error in it till now...

Well I could go on and on for ages about this... I think I should stop now.. haha :D

When I was young, I loved for the great storyline and thrilling adventures. But now its more about the characters and the powerful thought-provoking messages the books give. And despite of the books being a fantasy, the books have a very REAL quality to them, the characters are extremely human and lovable and of course JKR's writing and especially her style of humour is great.
