@ Anshvi,
See this is what I am trying to tell. Even the audience for movies and shows are different. Here the majority audience is urban housewives or educated lower middle class women even though they stay in metros. Unless we start seeing things from their perspective, we will be disappointed with what is being shown.
Forget the housewives, In IF also, in a popular show where the female lead was shown to have a spine, was working and cared about the self respect of her parents, she and her family was dragged through mud for these very qualities. She was emotionally harassed and humiliated by her mother in law and still she was a home breaker for daring to walk out and not tolerate everything. Her father was supposed to be a blot on fatherhood as he insisted that his daughter be treated with respect and consideration and had no problem in breaking her emotionally abusive marriage.
All are not us and we are a minority. That is the first thing we have to understand
Regarding the producers This is their definition of a thriller. Definition of grey is also dependent on this regressive mentality. For them when a man has a backstory for his madness he becomes grey. Aanchal will trick Ranveer to get out of her abusive marriage that itself will make her grey. In Beyahdh, it was a husband who was trying to get out of a bad marriage. Here it is a woman. Rules change.
See Indians still have a regressive mentality and we have to accept that. We have to wait for at least 10-15 years. I am sure the scenario will change. Right now the current consumer is the king.
