gaflat = slip, forgetfulness, inattention arising out of listlessness

jakadta = hold in a vice-like grip, strangle, close in

dil baith jaana = closest phrase in English would be "heart sinking"

"why does the heart sink sometimes, caught and pulled down by a million slips..."

The brilliant play on words here is the contrast and juxtaposition of "gaflat" and "jakadta"...they are opposites and serve to underscore the meaning ...very Gulzar like.

👏👏👏 If these are his original lines, then he is a brilliant poet in addition to being a fantabulous actor.

i haven't read where it is used just trying to help to find word hope you don't mind😳

ya di he is fab writer too i read his blog somewhere he writes fantastically in both hindi n english.

Mind kya karna bhai...ulta thank you for suggesting...but I don't think that is it...

Ghaflat...ghafil ho jaana means that one doesn't pay attention to that particular thing any more...sort of inattentive and letting things go...forget...

Kind of like you are supposed to be on the watch for something, and then you stop paying attention to that thing ...so u say..."main uski taraf se ghaafil ho gaya" and then something bad happens.

Sorry, will have to go...will try to peep in later and see if I can explain this better.

If he loose his faith so easily how can he win?

Win isn't so easy in love.

now his faith been testing. He has to be strong now and God is there for him if he want his help. Only God can help him this time, as his love is pure and he must be given a chance.

I really dont like to see his faith broken. This is testing period.
