Dreamy, your writeup was marvelous in itself👏..... and then Nandini quoted The Bard, sonnet 116, no less, and I am in heaven😍 Thanks and yes I enjoyed touching base sonnet 116 again....
Luv you guys............wonderful, wonderful...........you know, I think so too, that Mr. Bhushan is influenced heavily by Shakepeare.......Othello. I sincerely hope that is all, drawing ideas....in fact all writers draw from Shakespear because some say there is seven plots and shakespear used them all...he is the masterstoryteller.....
Interesting that you should mention Macbeth, 😊 ...first thing that came to mind when I saw bhouji and those women and fire....😲
I mean, replace the havan fire with a cauldron and the white with dark clothes, and voila, you have the opening scene with the three witches and "fair is foul and foul is fair" ambience. The air is thick with deception and treachery.
I was supposed to be getting ready to leave and here I am typing away😃..........too good!
Thanks vista, take care.

but how he is going to marry othello and macbeth...both are dark characters on the inside, as far as their moralities are concerned...avi for all his criminal record, is not a dark guy...there is darkness in his past, but not in his character or in his morals....

a visual parallel doesnt make a character-oriented one...i am afraid...

i love avi as much as the next warm-blooded girl, but this avi harasses me for he kills my avi for me....he needs redemption and my only hope here is arpi...

I think the writers are just drawing inspiration and perhaps copying certain situations, otherwise I doubt this would go the othello way...eg. there might be jealousy involved but their trust in each other will kick in before the track gets out of hand (trps will play a major role😉).....as for macbeth?....bhouji might try to play up a conspiracy theory.....??..again certain tracks for story telling purpose....I doubt Arpit and Avdesh would go around murdering people!!!..😆😆

Hey Dreamy, Sona😃
Very interesting and intense discussion👏, and I jumped right in😳
My thoughts are in bold above and this is what I had posted in myThe Vow thread yesterday:
Also, at some level, he feels guilty for:
  • Defying his hitherto guiding star, aka Bhouji
  • Falling in love and being happy with Arpita when B has never known the pleasure of married life.
  • Seeming to get on with his life when the family business of revenge was still pending.
This is, perhaps, the reason that prompted him to make the vow, to somehow punish himself for his transgressions of the past few days. What he seems to have missed out on is, that this decision directly affects another person, who incidently, happens to be his wife of few hours. An eighteen year old girl who put herself in mortal danger in order to be with him.
After watching the episode, it is clear that more than anything else, our dear boy (ODB), is an emotional fool. BJ's theatrics, the sound and fury of the staged drama, her rhetorical barbs, all succeeded brilliantly in sending him on a major guilt trip.........that culminated in the vow.
At that moment, in his mind, he didn't think of Arpita as the love of his life....rather, she was a distraction who had caused him to lose his focus and hence, was to be shunned. Then again, I think, on another level, his heart knows that Arpi will be his through thick and thin, and will support him in this decision. He thinks, she will realize how important this revenge business is to him and understand......and will stand by him..
I agree with both of you on some points, and my feelings towards Avi are ambivalent at this point in time. I am not livid at him nor happy in any sense.....more a feeling of resignation that this had to happen, given the story, the characters and given the man. I think Arpi's character was weakened by the CV's towards the end of Fri's epi.......at first I thought that she rushed towards Avi because his hand was scorched over the flames..........but her later act was most disappointing. I guess, both of them could do with some lessons in maturity.
Thank you ladies, for a most stimulating read😃

Long Post, friends. You might want to have a cup of chai/coffee while you read...😃😉
Marriage interrupted:😭💔😔
Avi sat close to Arpi, his breath caressing her face as they prepared to start their married life together. However, a keening noise interrupted their bliss and Avi went to investigate.....There were two strange women wailing their heart out, tearing their hair off....why? their husbands got killed over a decade go ' not like an hour ago as one would presume from the display of grief. And it was a display, very well staged one at that.

The biggest show on earth...😡🤬

Then Bhouji joined them, and I can't help but recall the 3 witches of Macbeth.... Before Avi could analyse the set up, his eyes puzzled as he tried to understand....he sees the woman who had a hand in raising him dressed as a widow. All white and black, he flinched from this starkness....the symbolism was very strong...she has no hope anymore, her life is devoid of joy, happiness or even a will...... his bhabi dramatically burns her colourful clothes.....why should she hide who she is? This is her true face ' a widowed bride. Just as today as the happiest day for Avi, so it was for her that day long ago except she was a widow by nightfall....but Avi must not worry, he should go back and enjoy his dulhan.....he may have forgotten but she could never that Lal Singh was the man responsible for killing her husband and Sasurji...

The death of knell of a good man...😭

The light played on Avdesh's face as it changed from incomprehension to hurt, anger and then despair as his whole body assimilated the poisonous words. The words twisted inside like a sharp knife while the fires of anger consumed and burned until he screamed out his anguish.... He had never forgotten...how could he? ..his every moment of existence is lived for the moment he would avenge the destruction of his family...he had been distracted, willingly, by a light as pure as the sun and just as nurturing....but now he could see his bhouji's hidden hurt, no longer contained...the woman he owed his existence to. She was responsible for the birth of Avdesh 'Bhaiyyaji' Singh Thakur......she alone made him into a man of steel, one with uncontrollable rage and anger, the one who was obedient to her every order as per his indebtedness....🤢

Act in haste, repent in leisure...😭

As everyone watched, the uncontrollable rage and anger consumed and devoured Avdesh, leaving behind the ashes of a man with a cold purpose. With grim eyes and a face carved from stone, he approached the fire and laid his hand on top, uncaring as it burned his traitorous flesh....on his right side, his new bride stood her face wet with tears, eyes ravaged by a grief twin to the one in her husband's eyes....the symbolism of that moment is very haunting....his hand over the fire seems to be resting over his wife's head as his guttural voice took a binding oath.. 'I, Avdesh Singh Thakur...promise Lal Singh will pay...I promise not to touch my wife till .....'... At his left side was bhouji and it seems he was paying homage to her......the panoramic view was off two women at opposite end with a man in the middle....the eternal triangle.🤬

Lover mine.. 😲😭

His wife of mere hours rushed to him, but too late. He holds one hand up - a pre-emptive act, his face closed and unemotional before striding away....his body and walk all screaming a man at the end of his tether.......His wife, Arpita, looks on with anger at his bhabi...the one who diseased the happiest day of her life...the one responsible for setting her husband on a path she feared he will never find his way back.....Bhouji looks back at Arpita, hard and unyielding, a tinge of satisfaction colouring her face...this was her due and she will have it...regardless of who stood in her path.🤢🤢

Arpita run back to her room, her despair and grief rampant....a candle fell and started burning away like a pyre....just as her dreams and hope of being a wife had been turned to ashes tonight....😭

My Thoughts:

I feel for both Avdesh and Arpita. More for Avdesh because he has been carrying a wound for so long...the few weeks he fell in love and married Arpita were the happiest days of his life, no doubts at all. All this has been snatched away by a vindictive woman......she played on his honourable streak and his commitment to his word....she twisted and used his own happiness against him knowing that his own core of decency will make him take that step, which may ultimately cost his own happiness....that is how unselfish and pure Avdesh is. Despite his cold behaviour, Avdesh loves Arpita and will die each day away from her, seeing her but unable to touch her but he had to be like that, otherwise he would not have been able to walk away...and not keep his word which will deny him his right to his father's name ' his only heritage.

I am sad for Arpita but the truth is, she entered his life headlong and set in motions these events, all innocently...... His path had been set long, long before she even knew he existed..... She is completely innocent and I ache for the loss that is pervading her now, the doubts and insecurity that must be hounding her, while her own feminine worth will be weighed countless times throughout that first night as she awaits dawn...... All rightly so and yet this is also her trial by fire, just as it is Avdesh's...... She needs to really know the man she married, that he is more than her husband...he is someone's son, and brother and devar....all these people have certain claim to him..... Her's is the biggest but she must wait a while before exercising those rights....then she will be truly worthy of being the wife of Avdesh Singh Thakur. For his life isn't easy and neither will her's be now. She now needs to fulfil the promises made to him, to be always by his side, hold what he hold's important..... For their love is that of a one soul in two bodies.

(I had written this yesterday, but some other things needed my attention, so sorry for the delay in posting).
If you like, don't forget to press the button.😊

i'm awestruck at the way u've jotted down everything 👏 it describes the present situation so precisely n also conveys the poignancy of the story !!!
agree with each word of it...Avi has been shouldered with responsibility right from the beginning...though he'd raised his hand n stopped her it does not mean the end of his unconditional love for her!!! he does love her but this cannot put a sudden end to his ongoing miseries dat he's been facing frm ages!!! it's tym for both Avi n Arpi to stand by n support each other in all the circumstances!! Avi shud realise his folly(not his mistake actually..his bhouji jus emotionally hit it out at him!!!) n try to pave out a way for himself in which he can promise happiness not only to himself but also his wife!!! Arpi has to not only stand up n uphold herself(without much rhona-dhona!!) but prove dat she's no ordinary woman who just has lust filled in her but a woman of sheer determination n love to stand by her husband in all situations!!! she has to live up to the high expectations of being the wife of the Avdesh Singh Thakur a person whom everyone respect n fear..a person who's never been dared to love!!!!

i too agree with dat point of yours vista(underlined)...before i'd watched the epi there was a bit of fury in me regarding Avi...but later after i've watched it neither am i enraged by his act nor pleased!!! as far as Arpi is concerned her running away from there with loads of tears in her eyes makes her a bit emotionally weak n broken-down!!!(though any girl in dat situation wud have done the same!!) "think twice before u ink" in this case it wud be apt to say "think twice before u act" dat's wat Avita must follow now so dat they ensure themselves a happy future!!!

hmm i hvnt read any shakespear though in our school there was just one lesson abt midsummer dream smthing like that

so have absolutely no clue on what u all r saying abt that

bt i think here all of u have put it brilliantly and perfect meaning it has come

like i said once u see full episode u wud understand why avdesh did this

and i wud put it simply

coz for one avdesh is not educated guy
he has never come across such emotions

and as u all said he has been brought up for revenge only
it has been like fixated in his mind that only

and the way bauji went on and on he was like almost forced to do this

and abt stopping arpi had loads of meaning
its upto how u interepret it

rest i gues u have said it all

nothing more to add but wait for today evng

and as for sana info abt one month

that part i m confused but its not like u say it wud take him one month to realise he was wrong

no he wud realise it now only once he cools down
