Chapter 24-B

Kesar sits on his chair and thinks with a cold smirk "pichli baar ki tarah main tumhe jaane nahi doonga Gulaal.tumhe mere sawaalon ke jawaab dene hi honge". Just then there is a knock on his door and he softly says "come in" but his smirk soon disappears as he sees the peon instead of Gulaal in front of him.

Peon: "Sir,Gulaal madam tho yahan nahi hain.shaam ko hi waapis aayengi".

Kesar: "sham ko hi waapis aayengi,matlab.kahan gayi hai ?"

Peon: "Sir woh, saare trainees ko factory le jaaya gaya hai.aaj poora din wahin pe honge aur shaam ko hi launtenge".

Kesar could not believe it. Now he will have to wait till evening to talk to her, to get some answers from her and until then he will have to suffer miserably. Suddenly he hears a voice calling him "Sir……Sir". He sees the Peon looking at him strangely and says "agar aur koi kaam nahi hai tho kya main jaa sakta hoon". Kesar replies in a disinterested way "haan jaao.jab Gulaal madam sham ko aayengi tho unhe mere cabin mein bhej dena.bahut zaroori kaam hai unse.bhoolna math samjhe". The Peon replies "jee Sir" and leaves the cabin.

Kesar looks at the file in front of him in frustration and pushes it away. He takes a deep breath and thinks to himself "Kesar,tu bas sham tak thoda intezaar kar le.tab tak kuch kaam tho kar.warna tu tho paagal hi ho jaayega sochte sochte". He decides to concentrate on his work but by lunch time it is clear that it is not going to happen.He just couldn't concentrate. Everytime he tried to do something work related he would be reminded of Gulaal-her tears,her smile,her anger and right now her indifference which was killing him. By evening three of the employees had rushed out of his cabin with red faces looking glum. The peon who was standing nearby gossiped to one of the female employees "lagta hai aaj Kesar sir ka paara chada hua hai.subah se hi kuch pareshaan lag rahe the lekin ab tho unka gussa in bechaaron ko bhi sehna pad raha hai.bechare".

Kesar looked at the clock. It is almost 9 p.m. The trainees were supposed to be back by now. Everyone in the office had already left. There seemed to be no one else except for him and the peon. Kesar did not want to leave the office without talking to Gulaal. Suddenly he heard noises and he understood that they were back. "Finally" he thought and a smile creeped up on his face without his knowledge. He walked upto the glass window to look at Gulaal and the smile disappeared from his face just as it did in the morning. The same guy from the morning was standing with Gulaal and both were laughing about something. Gulaal looked quite comfortable with him and it did not sit well with Kesar. He had this sudden urge to go over there, punch the guy and take away Gulaal with him. He turned away unable to look at them anymore.

Gulaal was feeling very tired. The whole hectic trip with a long journey to the factory coupled with bad roads had been too much for her. But as soon as she came inside with Durgesh she turned to look at Kesar's cabin. He was still here. She missed him so much. The morning's incident had shaken her up. His cool indifference had hurt her a lot but then she reasoned with herself, "mujhe hurt hone ka koi haq nahi hai.main bhi tho Kesar ke saath yahi kar rahi hoon na.tho socho use bhi tho kitni takleef ho rahi hogi.woh abhi bhi yahin par hai.shaayad mujhe chalke baat kar leni chahiye.lekin kya kahoongi?jaisa main chahthi thi waisa hi tho ho raha hai phir mujhe itni bechaini kyun ho rahi hai?" just then Durgesh's voice cuts into her thoughts "Gulaal,tumhein ghar drop kar deta hoon.bahut raat ho gayi haina.chalo". Before she could give him an answer the peon comes running and says "madam woh aapko Kesar sir bulaa rahe hain"

Peon: "bola tho subah hi tha lekin tab tak aap nikal chuki thi.Sir ne kaha tha ki jab aap waapis aa jaayein tho zaroor unse mil lein". He comes closer and whispers "waise madam zara sambhal kar rahiyega.aaj tho unka gussa aasmaan choo raha hai.pehle hi theen,chaar log unke gusse ka shikaar hogaye hain.isliye thoda dhyaan rakhiyega". With that he goes off.

Durgesh looks at Gulaal who was now looking very nervous and says "Gulaal,tum jaldi jaao.main tumhare liye yahin wait karta hoon".

Gulaal: "nahi,tum jaao.patha nahin kitni der lagegi.main Yogesh bha se keh doongi.woh aa jaayenge mujhe lene".

Durgesh tries hard to make her understand that it won't be a problem for him to stay back but Gulaal is adamant and finally he has no other choice but to leave.

Gulaal looked at Durgesh's retreating figure and then turns around taking hesitant steps towards Kesar's cabin speaking to herself "Gulaal,yaad rakhna Kesar ki bhalaayi ke liye sab kuch kar rahi ho.uske gusse ya indifference ke saamne jhukna math.kamzor tho bilkul math hona."

She opened the cabin and looked around. She is surprised to find him sitting on the couch nearby with his head in his hands. She understood the gesture immediately-Kesar was very worried and stressed about something. Instinctively Gulaal rushes towards him and asks "kya hua Kesar,sab theek tho haina"

Kesar had not heard Gulaal enter the cabin and is startled to hear her sweet voice. He lifts his head and looks up at her. She looked tired yet so beautiful. He wanted to pull her close to him and never let her go anywhere. But the anger he had been feeling since morning returned back with a vengeance when he had seen her with that guy just now "tumhe sach mein nahi patha ki mujhe kaun si baat satha rahi hai?"

Gulaal is shocked to see his bloodshot eyes and his frustrated demeanour and rushes towards him. She sits beside him and checks his forehead for fever and says defiantly "haan nahi patha,isliye tho pooch rahi hoon.ab jaldi bathao tabeeyath tho theek haina".

Kesar could see her love and concern for him in her eyes which could never hide anything from him but then why was she behaving so coldly towards him. He caught hold of her hand in a firm grip "tumhe isse kya.tum tho mujhse baat nahi kar rahi na.tho phir yeh parwah karne ka naatak kis liye?"

Gulaal realized what she was doing. She quickly freed her hand from his hold and got up "nahi main tho bas aise hi check kar rahi thi.acha ab bathao mujhe yahaan kyun bulaaya?koi kaam hai kya? Agar koi kaam nahi hai tho mujhe ghar jaana hoga.bahut der ho gayi hai."

Kesar looked at her dumbfounded. One minute she was all concerned and the very next minute she put on her distant, impersonal mask. He is hurt by her confusing behaviour. He got up from the couch and held her arm firmly to make her look at him "kyun mujhse baat karne mein problem ho rahi hai?baaki kisi ke saath tho yeh problem nahi hai.aaj subah us ladke ke saath tho bahut hans khel rahi thi.tab tumhe nahi laga ki log kya kahenge?"

Gulaal: "Kesar, mera haath chodo.mujhe dard ho raha hai.aur haan tumhari jaankaari ke liye keh doon woh mere bachpan ka dost hai, Durgesh jisse main bahut dinon ke baad aaj subah mili thi.isliye haal chall pooch rahi thi.aur kuch nahi.ab chodo mera haath.tumhe ho kya gaya hai?".

Kesar with almost a wild desperation in his eyes : "nahi chodoonga.tumhe patha bhi hai ki mujhe kitni takleef ho rahi hai, jab tum mujhse aise bartaav karti ho. Aur tum mujhse pooch rahi ho ki mujhe kya ho gaya hai?tumhe kya hua hai Gulaal?agar koi naaraazgi hai tho bathao na.hum dono baith kar use suljha lenge.lekin is tarah mujhe nazar andaaz karke, mujhse khafaa math raho".

Gulaal closed her eyes for a second to get a grip on herself. She took a deep breath and says "dekho Kesar,main tumse khafa nahi hoon.bas thodi busy ho gayi hoon.ghar mein bhi shaadi ke kai kaam hain aur yahan par bhi.isliye tumhe aisa lag raha hai.ab mujhe jaane do Kesar.ghar mein sab log pareshaan ho jaayenge". She freed her hand from his tight hold and goes towards the door. But Kesar beats her to it and traps her between himself and door with his hands on either side of the door. Gulaal is stunned and she slowly turns around "Kesar,yeh tum kya kar rahe ho.jaane do mujhe."

Kesar looked at her with a cold expression on his face "nahi.tab tak jaane nahi doonga jab tak mujhe patha nahi chal jaatha ki aakhir tumhari problem hai kya mujhse.jab main yahaan se gaya the tab tho sab kuch theek tha.lekin us din se na hi tumne mujhe call kiya,na hi mere calls liye". Kesar's face softened a bit and said in a whisper "kuch tho baat hai jo tum mujhe nahi bathaa rahi ho.kya chupa rahi ho mujhse Gulaal?kisi ne kuch keh diya kya?kya hua bathaao please kyunki tumhari yeh berukhi mere bardaasht se baahar ho rahi hai.aur aaj subah jab maine tumhe us ladke ke saath dekha tho mann kar raha tha wahin aakar use zor ka jhaapad laga doon aur tumhe wahan se utha ke leke jaaon."

Kesar looked into her eyes which were now filled with tears, tears for him. He brought his hand to her face and held her cheek lovingly. He kissed away the tears from her eyes and kissed her gently on her forehead "tum jaanti ho na Gulaal,main tumse bahut pyaar karta hoon aur tum jab aise mujhse naaraz rehti ho,baat nahi karti tho main toot jaatha hoon". He comes closer to her whispering all the while into her skin "mujhe apne aap se aise door math karo Gulaal,main jee nahi paaunga".

Kesar was slowly losing any control that he had on his senses. Gulaal's proximity was intoxicating and he wanted nothing more than to lose himself in her. He enveloped her in his arms and held onto her tightly for a moment. He never, ever wanted to part from her. he had hugged her before but this time there was a desperation, a fear of loss that had made it more intense.To his amazement Gulaal was hugging him too and he felt so happy in that moment- his worry and anxiety disappeared and he felt light-hearted once again. He moved back a little and looked at her face. She was shivering slightly and had her eyes shut. She looked so vulnerable and beautiful. All his anger and frustration just vanished into thin air. He held onto her waist with one hand and he moved up her chin slowly with the other. He comes very close to her face-lips almost touching and whispers "tum mujhe ithna pareshaan kyun karti ho?mujhe bilkul acha nahi lagta.I love you so much Gulaal, please yeh baat kabhi math bhoolna".

Gulaal had lost the battle with herself the minute Kesar started talking about his pain. She could not bring herself to hurt him anymore because hurting him caused her too much pain. When he hugged her, she could not help but hug him back. She forgot everything in that moment. All she wanted to do was stay like this forever with Kesar. But then she heard him express his love for her and that jerked her back into reality. She opened her eyes to look at Kesar who was standing very close to her-his eyes full of love for her "yeh main kya kar rahi hoon?main baar baar kyun bhool jaathi hoon ki mujhe Kesar ke paas nahi balki usse door jaana hai.is tarah se tho kabhi apne aap ko Kesar se door nahi kar paaungi.mujhe hi kuch aisa kehna hoga jisse Kesar mujhse hamesha ke liye door ho jaaye".

Gulaal pushed Kesar away and walked away from the door to the work table "Kesar,maine tumse kal hi kaha tha na ki mujhe yeh sab acha nahi lagta.tum samajhthe kyun nahi?"

Kesar is confused and for a second is unable to react to Gulaal's sudden change in behaviour. But then he manages to get a grip on himself and with a small smile on his face says "acha baba,sorry. chalo ab tho tumhara gussa thanda ho gaya na.bas main bahut khush hoon."

He comes near her,takes her hand in his and softly says "bas Gulaal,kuch hi dinon ki baat hai.uske baad tum hamesha hamesha ke liye meri ho jaaogi.main soch raha hoon ki main kal hi Motaba se hamaari shaadi ki baat kar loon.tumhara kya khayaal hai?"

Gulaal is so happy to hear him say that. She had wanted this for so long-to be his wife, his life-partner,his everything-but now the circumstances had changed. She could no longer think about just herself. She needed to say or do something that would make Kesar change his opinion about her.

Gulaal removes her hand hastily from Kesar's and turns around "nahi Kesar,mujhe nahi lagta ki tumhe aisa karna chahiye".

Kesar though confused asks her "kyun?tum chaahthi ho ki main agle hafte Roopa ki shaadi hone tak wait karoon.tho theek hai agar tum yahi chahthi ho tho aisa hi sahi".

Gulaal in a harsh tone "nahi Kesar main nahi chahthi ki tum Motaba se koi baath karo".

Kesar: "kya?lekin kyu?"

Gulaal: "kyunki main tumse shaadi nahi karna chahthi".

Kesar is now shocked and turns her around to face him holding her arms "tum mujhse shaadi nahi karna chahthi.matlab?kya kehna chahthi ho tum".

Gulaal takes a deep breath and replies in a calm tone "dekho Kesar,tumhe shaayad yeh sunkar buraa lagega lekin yehi sach hai.tumhare jaane ke baad mujhe sochne ka mauka mila. Bahut sochne ke baad main is natheeje par pahunchi hoon ki shaayad maine thodi jaldbaazi kardi apne dil ko samajhne mein.maine hamaari achi dosti ko pyaar samajh liya.lekin yeh pyaar nahi hai Kesar.main jo tumhare liye feel kar rahi thi woh sirf ek lagaav tha.tumne mujhe jeevan ke aise mod par sahaara diya jab main bahut akeli pad gayi thi.tum mere sabse ache dost bane aur main us dosti ko pyaar samajh baithi.par tumse door rehkar mujhe yeh ehsaas hua ki main kitni galat thi.aur agar main is rishte ko aage badhaaungi tho yeh hum dono ke saath na insaafi hogi Kesar.kyunki tum bhi jo mere liye mehsoos kar rahe ho woh pyaar nahi hai.sirf ek tarah ka attachment hai."

Kesar looked at her in disbelief and his mind takes a long time to process what Gulaal is saying. He tightens his grip on her arms and pulls her closer "Gulaal,tum paagal tho nahi ho gayi.yeh kaisi baatein kar rahi ho?tumhe ho kya gaya hai?"

Gulaal winces at Kesar's tight grip but says nothing about it and calmly replies "nahi Kesar,hosh mein tho ab aayi hoon aur main sachai ko pehchaan gayi hoon.aur tumhare liye bhi yehi acha hoga ki tum is sachai ko jithni jaldi ho sake maan lo".

Kesar in a menacing tone replies "sachai,tum is paagalpan ko sachai ka naam de rahi ho.tho jo ithne dinon tak hamaare beech hua woh sab sirf ek dhoka hai aur kuch nahi.tum aisa kaise keh sakti ho,Gulaal?hamaare pyaar ko aise kaise jhutla sakti ho?...tum aisa……."

Gulaal cuts him off "wohi tho main keh rahi hoon Kesar,tum samajh kyun nahi rahe?yeh pyaar nahi hai hum dono ne dosti ko pyaar ka naam de diya".

Kesar angrily asks her "acha sirf dosti.tho phir jab main tumhe chootha hoon tho tum aise react kyun karti ho…hmmm". He traces his fingers lightly on her face. A shiver runs down Gulaal's spine but she is unable to stop him. He holds her waist and brings her body close to him. Gulaal puts her arms on his shoulders for support and looks into his intense eyes which expressed his passion,love and affection for her. A thrill of excitement passes through her whole body and she holds onto him tightly mesmerised.

He comes close to her lips and whispers "kya tum apne doosre doston ko bhi apne ithne kareeb aane dethi ho?aise kiss karne dethi ho?" and Kesar presses his lips lightly on hers for a few seconds,then moves back a little and says with a smirk "nahi Gulaal,tum apne aap se jhoot bol rahi ho.yeh tum bhi jaanthi ho aur main bhi ki tum mere ilaava kisi aur ko apne ithne kareeb nahi aane dogi.bas mujhe yehi patha lagaana hai ki tum jhoot kyun bol rahi ho." Gulaal is now completely spell-bound. She looked at him wide-eyed and Kesar smiles at her dazed expression "maine hamesha kaha hai Gulaal,tum mujhse jhoot nahi bol sakti.tumhari aankhen mujhe saari sachai batha dethi hain.isliye tumhari yeh khokhli baatein main nahi maanane waala.chahe tum jithni bhi koshish karlo."

He kisses her once more softly on her forehead and says teasingly "ab chalein dost.kaafi der ho gayi hai.chalo main tumhe ghar chod detha hoon.nahi tho tumhare gharwaale ghabraa jaayenge".

Kesar smiles at her and moves back. He takes his coat and bag and proceeds to leave the cabin whistling a tune softly to himself. Gulaal is so shaken up that she holds onto the table for support and she is left wondering as to how Kesar turned the tables on her.

Hey Mini, apologies for delay in commenting😔…..still stuck with project deadlines when world is rejoicing over festive period😡…oh well..soon it will be all over…

Coming to chappi, I must admit I was expecting Gulaal to act all indifferent and keep up the stone face but Kesar never got chance to talk in the morning and poor employees had to bear the brunt…

Ahh! He can't accept the fact she can talk and laugh so easily with some other guy na, especially when she is siting the reason for her aloofness as her adverse publicity in the office environment…Gulaal you definitely deserve what's coming your way…Galoolism requires you to get your acts right and you definitely started on wrong footing there…ouch!

And when she enters his cabin the first thing she does is to run towards him after seeing him distressed and stressed out…stayanash😲…all her hard work of ignoring phone calls and keeping distance goes out of window with that one act, he so knows then and there that all that she is doing is under some pressure and as he said so after reading her eyes that cannot hide the truth…

I like how she is still keeping up after losing that battle already even after that hug, you have to give it to her she is trying hard👏, but he is such a charmer and so known her so goes along with that friendship chant…aww really awesome ending…I just loved how she is left speechless and in utter disbelief of what transpired in few minute and how he just walked away knowing and getting what he wanted😊…conclusion about her indifferent act…confirmation that it's just that…..😳
