When I first discussed about Gulaal Kesar relationship, i.e. motherly like and the way she slaps Kesar under the shed in the rain scene, when he tells Gulaal that he loves her. There was a lot of do-not-label-this- relationship cries. Well the show is over now, Kesar-Gulaal agreed to be together and most of us believe that Gulaal CVs did not change its storyline and ended in time.

Now if you have visited Manasi Parekh facebook page there is an interview of Manasi in the TV Magazine GR8! March 2011 issue which is scanned and put there and in that she states (now this is from the horses mouth) The second question on this page 82:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=165415416845149&set=pu.147702845283073&type=1&theater

Under the question, The best phase in Gulaal's life that you have enjoyed the most.
Around 5th line she states:
I also enjoy the current relationship with Kesar played by Ali. Gulaal is like his mom who cares for him and guides him and they are also bonded by the relationship of a husband and wife...
If the actor had this understanding of the characterization then that was clearly shown in her body language, no matter what anyone says. She treated him accordingly, bathed him and kissed and hugged him and played with him, scolded him, ghar walon aur mohallay walon ki shakayatein bhi sunti rahi etc. When he returns from the boarding, she has tears in her eyes and runs her hand from his face and around his shoulders. as if kitna bada ho gaya re... you can see a similar expression in KKKG, when Farida Jalal discovers that Hritik Roshan is her 'baba'. Gulaal keeps it less vocal but her expressions are the almost same .. motherly.

Regarding the ending, in my opinion the show was suppose to end when Gulaal tells Kesar is that 'Ab ye mera parivaar nahi raha' apna haath churati hai and MB also promises her on behalf of the family that they will always live together the way Gulaal wanted them to and she bids farewell and Kesar leaves goes to the city. That would be the original ending.

The storyline after that was totally filmy and much below Gulaals own standard.

Those of us who still think that MP was wrong in her understanding of her (pre-leap) character she played and our analysis of the earlier relationship is correct then look up.. pigs must be flying..

Ardhangini =
Karyeshu Dasi, Karaneshu Manthri;
Bhojeshu Mata, Shayaneshu Rambha;
Roopeshu lakshmi, Kshamayeshu Dharitri;
Satkarma Nari, Kuladharma Patni

I think this should put to rest all the mother son and paapi bhavanas to rest once and for all😛

LOL you're still stuck on that?? Like a mother does not equal to IS her mother. The whole point of Kesar and Gulaal's relationship was to portray a bond which imbibes every human relationship possible yet when it came to naming that very relationship...there was no answer. The show didn't even end with them as a typical husband and wife!! You need to think outside the box otherwise you will get only
Black and white answers! If MP said one thing, she also portrayed the role who fell in love with Kesar so she always knew how COMPLEX the story is going to be.

i agree with srush ,wife's are considered motherly in many aspects or shall i say in every relation a girl or women puts her motherly touch😃 even girls try to find out fatherly qualities in their bf's and husbands , the motherly word is all abt caring and loving it specifically doesnt make u a mother to a particular person if you care for him like this, so chill the ending was apt it was exactly how kesgul should be😃 .

I too agree with Chaitu, that wife showers her love to her husband with motherly care to certain extent but not totally as mother does.

In this sentence the word 'mother' is a verb and less a noun (i think) and in this context I have heard wives telling that "My husband is like a brother to me" so what does it mean.
Gulaal never considered Kesar as her son and this is crystal clear in the show. Even though Gulaal mothered him in a sense,they were not sharing a mother son bond. . Woman, being a woman will be having traces of that manner in each and every relations she share for, a friend, sibbling, husband...and obviously in an adult kid relation which is entirely different from an actual mother-son relation, like Paanba-Kesar, Sudha-Thalli Jamuna-Dushyanth-Raman...
or else she wont feel awkward when Kesar accidently hugged her on the terrace scene where a mother/sister would never.
and in the preleap scene after punishing Kesar, Gulaal regrets and asks him to beat her back, even if he deserved the punishment. Any way a mother wouldnt do that. A mother will never ask her son to beat her at any cost, as slapping a mother, even for fun sake is considered as a sin.
in addition to that mansi in a recent article, told that she knew the entire story (A to Z) from the very begining, so she was also aware of the KG track.
@red : some one plz correct me if I am wrong..
