Anjal, but honestly notice WHY she is not even able to speak to him on the phone...she's hanging on by a thread right now...this is typical Gulaal...her behavior today was totally in character...I had expected her denial to go like this...if we take the previous two epis out of the equation, today was totally in keeping with the overall character evolution I feel...she was totally broken and it's like she didn't even have the courage to face him on the phone...

I think the most beautiful paradox in the epi was the joy on her face when she heard his bike and ran to the door but the moment she SAW him, it's like reality hit and the emotions overwhelmed her again to the point of her curling back into her shell as much as she could...but still the fact that the tears were constant there show how much she doesn't have hold over her emotions anymore.

Ofcourse we all feel terrible for Kesar...his pain is such, you WANT to see Gulaal responding, accepting...but today I loved the push and pull...I could see the yearning in her but she wasn't able to cross to the final step...it's understandable.

Wow I just saw this post - okay I need to start referring to the 'forum' and not 'my posts' all the time...

I have a quick call to make, BRB after that...

Ganga, Anjali - yes, and no. But more on that in a bit...

Her dad has told her that Kesar is her future and she should understand and move forward.
Her mom has been with her Pati jaap ever since he has come back from the hostel
Motaba was angry with her and also went on to say that the decision to call the DV off would have longterm implications on family.
Pannba has conveyed to her that Kesar asked what was wrong with his love for which she had no answer and in many instances agreed with JK when she mentioned that Kesar and Gulaal should start their family together.
Reva goes on to say that she is incomplete without Kesar
Talli goes on to ask if she would not ever consider a life for herself with Kesar
Dushyant indirectly favored their DV by giving them chance twice, once by refusing and second time giving a three month time for reconciliation
JK has always been blunt about this issue.
Her friends Bulbul and Tani gave her the push to consider Kesar's love
Kunal hinted at the love aspect where faith is.
If she doesn't care a damn about people who love her, what more could I say. I am not even going into what all Kesar has done to give her happiness. That would be a post where I can go on and on.
And leaving out all these people, she needs a PUSH from Vasant in the right direction? She cant care about her own parents with whom she has lived probably the first twenty years of her life and her parents would want nothing but the best for their daughter. She cant give a care about MB who has almost loved her like a daughter for the past 10 years. She can't care for the unconditional love Kesar has showered her with in the time he has been with her, much more within the short period of time he has acted responsible.
But she cares for Vasant with whom she probably had spent a week after the wedding. Or probably a month put together as his lover and wife. And in this one month, she has seen an ideal man in Vasant who put family and the village before himself. She is still in awe of him, I understand. But her reverence is at the cost of everyone's happiness, including the guy who has put her before his own self when it comes to love. I can't debate over whose love is better Vasant or Kesar. But certainly Kesar's love has been truly selfless. And to such love, she owes a lot, nothing that should place him as the second in line.

But Ganga...all that you listed out...that is what makes her human naa...yes, everyone has told her...yes, she has seen all that Kesar has done...and yet she is not able to cross the final threshold...but today we saw what a battle it IS for her...she is not INDIFFERENT...she battles her emotions constantly...that is the way she always has been...unlike the previous two epis where they showed no emotion in her, today was much better cuz we could see the battle within her...

Battle for what? Why the need for Vasant's push and his approval as if all the push from the rest, Kesar's love and her own emotions are not enough?

THIS is what Gulaal is. She is stubborn. It's not like she doesn't want to reciprocate the love but she doesn't know how to accept the fact that she is in love with him. After rejecting his love for so long, how can she so easily give in and say what we all want to hear? She avoided him at Talli's house because her emotions aren't within her control any more.

So often, I sense her need for Kesar to say all those things he did which she had rejected once upon a time. Yesterday, when Kesar said 'Can't you stay in the house forever?', I swear I saw that hope in Gulaal's mind till Kesar bursts the bubble by saying he dreams too much. Unfortunately, this woman always needs the push to acknowledge her own feelings.

Today she wanted to hold on to those hands but they slipped away. I have no doubt in my mind that if Kesar had used the slightest force with her, she would have caved in but he's letting her go which is making it harder for her.

So yeh..I agree with Nur! LOL!

Nur: this is where I come back to what I wrote...she might not be perfect but she is selfless and we have established that a million times. Problem is that her selflessness starts and stops for everyone around her but Kesar is not included in that??? She knows him so well and she probably knew that he was waiting for her...just a simple goodbye. She went to their place for Janmashtmi where was the push and pull then? She knew she would be seeing him so where did she get the courage to face him then?

Its not like he will jump on her. He has accepted that there is no future for them...he asked during the toffee scene and once again he knew the answer, he told MB...she won't come back...I know her decision...so at this point what is she afraid of?? He is leaving for good...just pick up the phone and say bye bye. She has lived for everyone and I mean even Dushyant but she can't give something simple and basic like a final goodbye...He changed himself for her...she used to call him selfish and he completely changed...could she not put her fears or emotional turmoil aside for a couple of hours and go meet him?

Ganga, the problem is that it's Vasant, right?? That is what's pinching you and a lot of us, no doubt.

But if we try not to dwell on just that point so much and look at it from an overall perspective...Battle for COURAGE...like Poonamba said today, it takes COURAGE to live with your decisions, to face those decisions...Gulaal made her choices, decisions but she is not being able to handle the consequences, the fallout...the fact that there was such joy on her face and she ran to the door when she heard his bike shows that her HEART knows the truth but her MIND can't fully accept it yet...and that's how the case always has been for her.

Kesar's pain is heartbreaking...you see how broken he is standing in front of Gulaal, asking to speak to her on the phone but she is unable to...just unable to...she can see that it hurts him, but she herself doesn't have the courage to face him so she hides...it is sad, it is heartbreaking...but those are Gulaal's flaws...that doesn't negate the fact that it was very obvious in today's epi just how much she is in love with Kesar...the yearning was shown in a beautiful manner.

And finally it remains to be seen just what exactly Vasant tells her...even though I'm not in favor of this idea, at this point I'm waiting to see how that GV scene goes and how the final moments are shown before I pass a full judgement on this I guess.

But today both K and G were broken...Gulaal has brought this upon herself, we all agree...but those have always been her character flaws...Kesar has his own, she has her own.

Exactly!! Battle for what??? Kesar is living proof..he walked out on his family, took up a job, broke the DV...I mean all these things staring at her in her face and she needs everyone's approval, push, an accident AND her dead husband to push her in the right direction??

How do you make yourself bid goodbye to the last person you want to see leave your life?

If you've seen the final FRIENDS episode, you'll know what I'm on about. Rachel gives a personal goodbye to everyone except Ross and when he blasts her for not even having the decency to not even say bye, she explains how she cannot imagine saying it to him.
