The course of true love never did run so smooth-Section A
"Oh Ye kya jungle mein aye ho..Kunal…Yahn to dur dur tak kuch bhi nahi hai.Mujhe laga tumhara Birthday hai to koi party doge..par ye sab"
Gulaal raised her eyebrows.
T: are hat yaar ye rastato Guchupani–The Robbers cave ki ore jata hai na.Mar gaye ab 1 km paidal chalna hoga.Gulaal sach mein mar gaye"Talli sighed and cried.
Kun: are Talliji bhabhiji ko kyun dara rahi hain aap.Mera birthday hai na,to maine socha kyun na picnic ho jaye.Aur waise bhi bhabhiji agar aapne Dehradun mein ye jagah nahi dekhi to kya dekha.
T: Kya keh rahe ho,yahan koi ata bhi hai kya?kitni sunsaan jagah hai.Mujhe to abhi se gussa aa raha hai.",Talli fumed
Gulaal was listening to this conversation.She felt bad at Talli's remarks as she did not want to upset Kunal .
She tried to pacify the situation.
G:Koi baat nahi Kunal mujhe yakeen hai ki kuch wakai special hain yahn pe Tumhara birthday hai aur hum sab enjoy karenge .Chalo ab time waste mat karo"Gulaal tried to take everything under control.
Talli said, "haan chalo"Talli grabbed the hand of Gulaal and started walking ahead .
Kesar who was unusually happy and chirpy till now clenched his fist in anger.
It was 12:00 in the afternoon.The sun took turns with the clouds.Sometimes it glared down upon them with pitiless ferocity and sometimes the clouds overpowered breathing fresh cool breeze.It was a honey coloured day.They had taken asmall 8 km drive from ghantaghar chowk(clock tower ) and reached anarwala to see the most enchanting and mysterious Robbers cave of Dehradun.Basking in splendid isolation it was one of those rare tourist attractions bestowed by the beauty of nature but still had been untouched by commercialization.Its beauty lied in its serene and calm surroundings.Very few people knew about this place because it did not fall in the regular tour trips running in the city.
The very sight of talli and Gulaal moving hand in hand made Kesar furious.He was sulking and angry as they all walked towards the main site which was approximately 1 km trek from the main road.
Kunal saw kesar and said , "Kya hua ?"
Kesar gave a death glare to Kunal and rebuked him harshly, "Tu puchta hai kya hua ?"his jaws tightened , "Maine kaha tha na us chipkoo ko mat bula..par tujhe kisi ki sunni kahan hai .Bada genius bana phirta hai..Tu aur tere flop plans"Kesar yelled at him.
Kesar had spent the whole night dreaming about their trip but all his hopes crashed.He was angry ,irritated and sulking.And
"Gulaal she seemed so ignorant of his plight and walked away happily with Talli completely oblivious to his presence,I hate you Gulaal",Kesar thought.
Kunal was amused at Kesar's impatience and said ,
"Kaash woh samajthe is dil ki tadap ko,
Tho yun humein andekha na kiya hotha.
Unki ye berukhi zulm bhi manzoor thi humein,
Bas ek baar humein samajh-liya hotha?"
K: dekh mera mood bahut kharab hai .tu apni bakwas band kar warna main tera muh tod dunga"
Kun: tu sach main pagal ho gaya hai.abhi 5 min bhi nahi hue aur apna haal dekh.Tu ruk aur dekh mera kamaal..."Kunal shouted on top of his voice ..Talli ji..
Talli and Gulaal who were walking a few metres before them stopped and turned around.
Kesar and Kunal had come near to them
Kun :Talli ji wo main mats aur khane ka saman to gadi mein hi bhul gaya aap chaliye mere saath wapas meri madad k liye"
Gulaal interrupted , "aap Kesar ko le jaiye"
Kun:wo bhabhiji dekhiye Kesar ko le jaunga to aap dono akeli ho jayengi yahan itna sunsan hai.aur Gulaal bhabhi ki tabiyat thik nahi rahti .to bachi aap na,"
Talli looked confused but she hesitantly agreed to come with Kunal.
Kun: acha Kesar tum aur bhabhi age chalo.hum log join kar lenge"said Kunal and winked at Kesar .
Kesar's frown instantly turned into a smile and he chirped happily, "haan haan aram se ana"
Talli and Kunal left and finally Kesar and Gulaal were left all alone.They walked silently .No one said anything.Still Kesar's heart was dancing with Joy.After all he had just freed her damsel from the clutches of Chipkoo Talli even though it was Kunal who helped him.
They walked together on the small road leading to the main spot.The silence of the surroundings made the view even beautiful.It was a jungle with only tall majestic trees and Hillocks to accompany them.Not a single living soul was seen in their vicinity.The only sound heard was the constant chirping of Gauraiyya(a bird) and the rushing waters of a small stream that accompanied them along the trek.
Gulaal looked here and there and was feeling happy and relaxed.She was taken aback by the beauty of the place which was a striking contrast to the main city which wasalways bustling with activity.
Kesar was lost in her shy smile .He was thrown off balance when suddenly Gulaal grabbed his armand came very close to him.He was shocked pleasantly though .Gulaal was holding his arms tightly and was saying .. "Kesar wo wo dekh saanp(snake)
Kesar felt like laughing as it was only a dead snake .He knew snakes were very common in this area but they were only water snakes and harmless.But how could he leave this grand opportunity .He smiled and said pretending to scare her. " Gulaal haan yahn saanp hain .idhar hi chalo mere paas paas ..dekho kahin wo humein dekh na le"
Kesar wanted to laugh at his silly statement but he could do anything to keep her in his arms..He placed his arms around her shoulders..made her come close to him and quietly walked forward.Gulaal kept on walking with him with her nose buried on his chest and didn't open her eyes even for a second as if closing her eyes would make her invisible and save her from the wrath of that snake.Kesar was amused and enjoyed every moment of their closeness.
"Gulaal ,apni ankhein kholo",kesar loosened his grip.Gulaal opened her eyes.They were standing in front of the majestic caves of Guchupani.The small opening of the cave was grand and mysterious.The stream of water which was accompanying them now entered the caves.A small Maggie and tea stall was also there near the entrance.The view was just beautiful.Gulaal's eyes were fixed on the cave entrance.It appeared as if it was an open witches mouth and they were supposed to enter it.
Gulaal was a bit scared .Kesar looked at her and said , "kya hua chalo andar"
Gulaal hesitantly said "Wo Kunal aur Talli ko aa jane de "
Kesar stomped his foot , "Talli talli Talli humesha tumhe usi ki padi rahti hai.jaise main kuch nahi"Kesar became angry and annoyed.
Gulaal was tensed She said innocently., "Kesar tu humesha itna moody kyun hai.Jab tere man ki koi baat na kare to tujhe gussa aa jata hai .Tujhe bas har baar zid karke apni marzi chalani hoti hai.Acha baba chal gussa mat ho..main chalti hun ..bas ab to khush"
Kesar smiled at his victory and folded his jeans as he knew that the stream water rushed through the caves..
Gulaal was in confusion .She was wearing a salwar kameez .But still she somehow managed to fold them .
Kesar saw this and was amused.But his eyes Fixed on her left leg .It had a small black thread with tiny ghungroos tied like an anklet around her ankle.Kesar could not understand what was more beautiful..her legs or the anklet.Gulaal noticed his fixed gaze and felt shy and said , " Wo wo mummy ne bandha tha..kaha ki nazar nahi lagegi"
Kesar was amused and he grinned"Nazar to lag gayi",he thought as they stepped inside the cave.The cold rushing water of the cave and its stone bed touched Gulaal's feet and she shivered.The water was very cold and the ripples created by their feet made the experience more thrilling.The heat of the sun just vanished instead the cold damp breeze of the cave made it pleasantly cool.Gulaal touched the walls of the cave which were damp and had algae growing all over. "eww she withdrew her hand"Kesar was holding her hand as they walked inside the narrow cave. "Gulaal ,"Kesar's soft voice echoed in the cave.Gulaal looked at him.
K: tumhe pata hai ise Guchupani kyun kehte hain..Isliye kyunki ism eek chupa hua stream hai aur jiska source underground hai..You know is paani ka level bhi ghatta badhta rehta hai.aur ise robbers cave bhi kehte hain.They say that robbers use to hide here from the british army."
Gulaal listened curiously .She was totally lost in the beauty and charm of the cave as they walked together hand in hand.They slowly reached a very narrow place only with a space for two ppl to squeeze in.Kesar and gulaal came very close they could almost feel their breaths on each others faces.Gulaal quickly moved forward .and shouted with excitement.. "Kesar dekh na rainbow.."Gulaal excitedly ran towards a small rainbow like illusion where there was only a small ray of the sun faintly visible from the small apertures above the caves.The illusion was created due the magic of the sun rays and the soft drizzle from the cave walls.Gulaal chirped she had not seen anything like this Water dripping from cave walls and the sun Kesar looked at her .She was looking absolutely stunning in the light of the rainbow as her face was wet with the soft drizzle and her eyes twinkled as she was so engrossed admiring the optical illusion.There ewas a sudden increase in the water level and the ripple effect tingled Gulaal 's feet and she felt as if a snake just moved around her feet.Gulaal shrieked in fear and agin jumped towards kesar clutching his shoulders .and cried " mujhe lagta hai saanp hai..".Kesar blessed his stars and said masking his excitement , " Bilkul mat move karna"Kesar very well knew that this ripple effect always gave an illusion of something crawling near yopur legs which was amplified in the case Of Gulaal Who already had this snake phobia.
They both were facing each and other and very close.too .Kesar looked at Gulaal's face it was wet .Suddenly his mobile phone rang .He put his hand in his pocket and saw Kunal's message by using his one hand while still holding her with the other.
The message read "carry on…maine is chipkoo ka bandobast kar diya hai"
An evil smile ran across Kesar's face .Gulaal was curious and couldn't figure out.
While putting his mobile phone back in his pocket His box of cigarette fell in the water .He quickly left Gulaal and was stretched his hand to garb it when suddenly Gulaal placed her hand on his hand and pulled it back.Kesar looked at her.She said nothing and simply nodded her head in disapproval and looked at him with imploring eyes.
Kesar was awestruck , "His Gulaal was requesting him.",he thought..and smiled as he forgot about his cigarette packet"They slowly came to a point which was dead end a large cliff closed the cave..Only the sky was visible .Gulaal said , "chalo wapas chalet hain.."
Kesar smiled sheepishly and said , "abhi kahan"as he climbed the cliff and stretched his hand " chalo Gulaal ,Give me your hand "Gulaal was confused but still stretched out her hand and climbed the cliff behind Kesar..They sinally reached the other side which had a small entrance to a dimly lit area.Gulaal could hear the sound of roaring water.Kesar enetered the area .Gulaal followed him .They were now standing in front of an underground hidden spring from which water was rushing out with force .Kesar looked at Gulaal who was still unable to believe the sight It was a small congested area barely enough for Five to six people to stand.Kesar pulled Gulaal in the water and beneath the spring .She was drenched with water.She screamed and started hitting him… "Ye kya mujhe pura bhiga diya"
Kesar just smiled wildly and looked at his watch .It was 5:00 pm.He knew Now was the time.Suddenly there was a huge rush of water and suddenly water level increased and Gulaal was swept off her feet due to the force of .Kesar was unmoved as he knew that this phenomenon occurs after five daily when the water level increases so does the force of the spring specially in monsoons.No wonder it is called Guchupani..-ie hidden water.Gulaal didn't knew How to swim and she clutched on to Kesar's shoulders. He caught hold of her and held her by her waist and abruptly pulled her closer .The surroundings was seductive with no trace of life any where around them.The drizzle of the spring water was crossing in front of their eyes.Both stood still looking at each other..
