This request is only to show my support for this beautiful show though I very well understand that the decision on the show being axed is final, unless and until a miracle happens. My previous experience with my favorite show has stopped me from believing in miracles. Yet I would like to respond to this thread by a friend who has taken the initiative to voice members' opinion about this show and our disapproval over the channel's decision to axe this show.
The TRP race
Any show, I believe needs promotions. For a prime time slot, which has a tough competition with another show that is being followed by people more out of loyalty than the content of the show, this show Gulaal should have been given the maximum coverage with proper promotions.
And most importantly, quality of a show and the TRP system do not go hand in hand. I have long back voiced my opinion almost an year back suggesting that the quality viewing is being totally missed, this was even before I was introduced to the show Gulaal. Interested people can still voice their opinion on this link which features in the official page of Indian Television that give out the ratings through aMap.
After a leap was considered in this show, from what I can see is that the show has garnered more eyeballs, it is more evident from the number of active discussions happening on this forum which was once bland and monotonous. No offence to anyone, but it is a fact. I wish the promotions were properly done at least when this story started focussing on the unusual and unique love story of Kesar and Gulaal in the midst of trying circumstances.
USP of Gulaal
Script
Absolutely brilliant script and the writers of this show need a special round of applause in not compromising on the quality of narration.
Cinematography:
Breathtakingly brilliant cinematography, never before experienced on a televison show.
Unique story line
The brilliance in the story concept and the way it is executed is fodder for a thinking audience who are by themesleves bound to their respective thoughts and beliefs. It makes the audience think what if what we have been believing as right so long is not actually right or whether what we considered as wrong or taboo is not so really wrong.
Absence of cliched romance and seemingly believable and connecting plots that forms the basis of a uniquely brilliant love story between two unusual people, who are headstrong, diabolically opposite in their beliefs and decision-making abilities, brought together by destiny in the most unusual circumstances. What makes it unique is that it cuts across the barriers of age, relationships, framed societal rules, prejudiced thinking and forced beliefs.
Actors
I hate to class them as actors because the artistes portray the characters so convincingly that it is hard to believe that they act and instead get us so involved that we sympathise, empathise or hate them accordingly. The actors of this show are performers who have graduated in their profession and can actually perform when compared to the stale and emotionless faces of several other so called popular actors who seem to be more infamous than being famous.
Neil Bhatt has breathed life and soul into his character Kesar. Enacting Kesar that has a complex multi-layered characterization that exhibits a varied range of emotions.
requires the finesse of a seasoned artiste. Neil has played this role so convincingly.
Manasi Parekh stands out as a superb actor in portraying Gulaal who blossoms into a mature woman from the bubbly young girl that she was due to her ill fated destiny that proved to be a blessing in disguise.
The supporting cast like Manoj Joshi, Sushant Singh and Natasha Rastogi as well as a newcomer actor like Hally Shah have done justice to their role and proved the mettle.
REQUEST:
The story seemed to have picked up post leap and has managed to maintain a steady rating in spite of the pitfalls that the show has been subjected to without proper promotions from the channel. It has been only 4 months post leap and it would be an utter waste of talent of the writers, actors if the show is forced to close shop citing the ratings.
Though I very well know that this plea would fall on deaf ears since there isn't any great expectation from a channel that cares only for business and never step out of their comfort zone to care for quality for once, it is still my request to the concerned people to at least consider a time slot change. We would be more than happy to pave way for the new show on the prime slot that is hypothesized to make business in terms of ratings and also wish the channel good luck in its attempt.
Thanks if you have read this.
