Gulaal declares that she doesn't believe in husband-wife relationship with Kesar, with what right will she live there, so she is leaving the house. Mota Bha, in his usual given-up-on-life tone tells his beloved Gulaal that nobody will compel her to accept Kesar as her husband, she doesn't need to leave the house. Jamna angrily asks what her problem is, if her husband is willing to accept her as his wife then why does she need to leave her husband's house. Mota Bha yells Jamna's name. Paan Baa has tears in her eyes and walks towards Gulaal saying apologetically that so many things have happened these last few days, and Paan Baa said so many things to Gulaal, that doesn't mean she should break a relationship built all these years and leave. Gulaal, the queen of martyrdom, tells her that she is not leaving due to annoyance or anger at anyone, she is leaving because it will be the right thing to do. Mota Bha asks Gulaal to leave the next day since it is night, she has spent so many years in that house, one more night won't hurt. Mota Bha says this as if he is asking his Gulaal to do him a huge favor. I am so over these people and most of all Gulaal. He folds his hands pleading, Gulaal is overwhelmed and holds his hands as if indicating that Mota Bha doesn't need to do this. Jamna is furious. Gulaal agrees to bestow this huge favor on the family and grace them with her presence.
Sudha is fuming in her room, Raman is fed up and asks her to stop. Sudha blames Gulaal, Gulaal overhears this and tells her that she doesn't deserve forgiveness, Sudha asks her to stay away from Talli and shuts the door on Gulaal. Gulaal sheds a few tears for her lover Talli. (Wasn't Gulaal leaving anyway, how would she meet Talli, through love letters?
The next morning Gulaal prays to God and says that she thought she would live in the house till her last breath, but she never expected things to reach this stage, she doesn't know what will happen next, she prays to the Goddess for strength and asks her to protect her. She cooks for the family one last time and flashbacks to the time she had food there in the kitchen with Vasant, Paan Baa, and Mota Bha. Gulaal walks around the house and flashbacks to when she came there the first time, her talks with Vasant, and every corner of the house. Looks like she cares more about the house than Kesar. She cries telling Vasant's photo that she just wanted to fulfill his dreams and didn't realize when she got so involved herself, she cannot stay there anymore, and maybe her relationship had to end here, she asks him for forgiveness.
Talli comes there asking why she is leaving. Gulaal says she has to go. Talli asks her whether she thinks that by her going Talli will get Kesar, Kesar will never love Talli, then why is Gulaal leaving. Gulaal says she has to go. Talli tells her that she won't stop her, but she will become all alone, she and Gulaal are tied by an unknown thread, with Gulaal around she was able to remain strong because she always felt that in front of Gulaal's sorrow Talli's sadness is nothing, by Gulaal's leaving Talli may break. I guess because Gulaal is not around to make her feel that her sadness is less. Gulaal asks her never to let herself break, apologizes, and hugs her remorsefully.
Kesar is covered in his letters, and is sleeping so innocently with one letter in his hand, as if he slept while reading it, probably crying. Jamna comes and wakes him up, Kesar sees her and starts collecting the letters strewn all over the bed, making an excuse that these are his book's papers. Jamna tells him to take care of the letters later, first he should take care of the person associated with the letters (chitthiwali). Kesar looks surprised, and he is unshaven. Jamna asks him if he doesn't know, his wife Gulaal is leaving the house, if Gulaal doesn't stay in the house how will she obey the panchayat and live like his wife. Jamna says this so nicely and gently. You would think she would be happy with Gulaal's finally leaving, but no. Jamna continues that Gulaal is leaving in some time, if Kesar can stop her good, else he will regret later.
Gulaal is ready to leave and when she bends to take Mota Bha's blessings he steps back and asks if she will not listen. She tells him that he promised not to stop her, he says fine, he will come to drop her off, she refuses. Jamna tells her that she is not doing the right thing. She bends to take Jamna's blessings, Jamna turns away. She tells Jamna to take care of herself. Mmm no need, Jamna always makes sure she and her litter are safe no matter what. Paan Baa comes there and holds Gulaal's hands asking her teary-eyed not to leave them. Gulaal says that she is not leaving them, their memories will be with her. Gulaal asks Paan Baa not to cry else she will not be able to leave, Mota Bha says then don't leave. Gulaal says it is not easy for her to leave the house, the house is her life, she has no relations with the world outside, but she will have to leave because she cannot stay as Kesar's wife in the house.
Kesar says "lie" (jhooth), and comes downstairs saying that Gulaal is lying to everyone. Gulaal takes her bag and goes to leave, Kesar says that he is not finished. Kesar tells everyone with a lot of pain in his eyes that Gulaal is not leaving only because she doesn't want to live there as Kesar's wife, the truth is something else. Paan Baa asks what could be the reason. Gulaal tells Kesar there is no point in talking about it. Kesar says that he doesn't know about that, but by running away Gulaal cannot change the truth. Jamna asks what truth, Kesar says that the truth because of which he could not marry Talli, he did not break the deeyarvattu, then he looks at Gulaal and says softly that the same truth, that he loves Gulaal. Everyone looks completely shocked. Kesar looks as if the poor baby cried the whole night.
Mota Bha looks at Gulaal shocked, Gulaal looks guilty and is not able to meet his eyes. Paan Baa looks lost, only Jamna is happy, Mota Bha turns around and starts walking away, as if he needs a drink or something -- as if he needs time to digest this. Obviously since Gulaal cannot say anything to the others and she is master of CIA - hiding things - she takes out her anger on Kesar. She asks/yells at Kesar if he is done, he said what he had to, does he have peace now, how could he say this in front of the elders, does he have no sense of respect. Gulaal and Vasant used to romance openly, didn't she have any sense of respect then? Why the hell is she hurting Kesar knowing full well how much in pain he is. Gulaal has become Cruella the Devil - I will call her Cruella now till she softens. But I think that she herself feels exposed with Kesar's confession, as if she has some feelings and now it is all out in the open for her to deal with it. Kesar asks her why, what is wrong in this, she is his wife and if he loves her what is wrong with that. Gulaal says that it is not wrong, it is a sin. Paan Baa looks at Gulaal shocked at her thinking. I mean, Paan Baa herself did deeyarvattu, and Gulaal is calling it a sin, what about her sense of respect now? Kesar looks so hurt by Gulaal's statement. Methinks Gulaal maybe saying this to herself, that she cannot feel anything for Kesar because it is a sin, more for herself than Kesar. Cruella says again that this is a sin. Mota Bha got a case of the Gulaal and ran away from this conversation. Gulaal walks away angrily, Kesar comes after her asking her to stop. Paan Baa must feel some resentment at Gulaal after this - how can she not. Leaving her son high and dry all alone and unhappy, only because madam says its a sin. Who is Kesar going to marry now? He is officially married to Gulaal - he cannot find another love or wife now.
Like a sweet little kid, exactly like the young Kesar, Kesar blocks her way and looks at her pleadingly saying that he has just realized the importance of life, he cannot live without her, he asks her not to leave. Cruella pops out her big round eyes at him saying he has gone mad, asking if he knows what he is saying, and asks him rudely in a loud voice to get out of her way. She refuses to see his face and asks him to let her go. Cruella looks so wicked in this scene, all angry and ready to pounce with her claws on him. Kesar tries to block her way, when she continues to walk away he goes after her saying that if she thinks by her leaving things will change, nothing will change, neither will his thoughts, feelings, or love for her change. She opens the door of the house to leave and pauses, Kesar has tears running down his cheeks, he says that she will leave without him but what about him, he cannot, he cannot live without her. While saying this he drops to his knees on the floor, holds his hands together pleadingly, and weeps. Gulaal stands at the door confused, with tears in her eyes, her heart saying one thing, brain another. Kesar continues that he has become her shadow, how can she go away from him.
Gulaal yells stop and turns around, she folds her hands and asks him not to fall so much from grace, he should at least care about his family's pride, and takes her bag and leaves. She had no shoes on - that is strange - don't these villagers wear shoes? Kesar sits there crying, heart broken. He sees an earring of Cruella's on the floor, picks it up and holds it lovingly and looks longingly at the door. Talli looks on from behind with tears in her eyes.
Precap: Talli yells at Kesar for breaking her and Gulaal's heart, and tells him that neither Gulaal nor Talli will ever be able to forgive him, he played with both their emotions, he is very bad.
I HATED this episode, absolutely hated it. How can Cruella be so cruel? She herself who loved so much and was willing to do anything to be with Vasant treats Kesar's emotions with such callousness. I think tomorrow's precap is Kesar's dream, with his guilt at causing Talli pain manifesting in his dreams. I don't think Talli will yell at him because she understands his pain and seems to have way more empathy than Cruella. Either that, or Talli has gone crazy by losing two loves of her life. Talli has no right to accuse Kesar because I lay the blame for this entirely on Gulaal. Gulaal gave her dreams of marrying Kesar since childhood without asking Kesar, and Sudha dreamed of marrying her daughter to a married man. Nobody but Gulaal to blame here, she didn't leave Kesar much of a choice. Poor Kesar will now regret confessing to Gulaal - as long as people lie around Gulaal she is fine, the minute things are out in the open she leaves. I don't like Gulaal's characterization at all. I was watching old episodes, and young Kesar told Gulaal several times not to lie. He even told Paan Baa that Gulaal lies a lot when she lied about Jamna's misbehavior. Gulaal behaves as if she and she alone cares about the family, and everyone else is just there. Her martyr and holier-than-thou attitude pisses me off to no extent.
The last scene reminded me of when Paan Baa wanted Gulaal to leave after Vasant's death, Kesar cries a lot and yells out for Gulaal to not leave since he cannot live without her, he yells and cries and is held back by the other women, yet he tries to break free and catch hold of Gulaal's hand and prevent her from leaving yelling all the time that he cannot live without her. Now old Kesar is doing the same thing.
