KESAR WITH PAANBA

There was only a single dialogue for Neil when Kesar asks Paanba " Gulaal aur Dushyant Ba ka kya rishta hai?" We get to see all the right emotions of Kesar's disposition throughout his interactions with Paanba. . Kesar's indignity about the Gulaal and Dushyant scenario does not allow him to meet his mother's eye. But he came straight about his uncertainty as he was unable to take it any longer and he trusts his mother. Gulaal was uncooperative hence he is left with the option of clarifying from his mom. Calm and poised that he was after asking her, he realizes that he has asked her something that is not appreciated as a discussion between mom-son. Conservative households still abide by the tradition of not openly discussing such topics with elders. His guilt showed when his mom pointed out that he partly believes such rumors or doubts Gulaal.

He felt ashamed to have asked, he believed what his mother said, he was emotional when his mom said that they are responsible for Gulaal's situation, he could empathize for Gulaal that had she wanted she wuld have opted for a new beginning after Vasant. He was regretful when he finally took a long drawn moment to shed those tears of remorse, sorrow, guilt and shame as his mother narrated her sacrifices for the family.

When he stood up to listen to his mother's advise to thwart his doubts regarding such allegations, he was slightly confused because the truth that he heard 10 years ago has been imprinted on his mind. Unless he gets that cleared from Gulaal, the one person concerned, this confusion will remain with him.

KESAR ON THE TERRACE

Here again, no dialogues, only expressions. Great job.

Kesar contemplated over his mother's advise, felt frustrated for his doubts. He nodded his head silently when his mother's words echoed saying Gulaal needs our support, be one. He almost came to terms with that realization. He was surprised to find Talli crying too. Listening to her made him feel more depressed. He took note of Talli's concern for Gulaal. Actually the scene between Kesar and Tallli was good to see them tolerant to each other, sensitive and in harmony about their sentiment for Gulaal. "Kitni takleef me hogi Gulaal" makes him hurt more from within. Hurting for her grief and also for the distrust he had on her. He soon composed himself as she reminded about Gulaal being the catalyst to solve all their problems. He felt utterly helpless when Talli says that Gulaal will be feeling so lonely now. Impulsive that he is, he takes off to meet Gulaal to be that support that his mother asked him to be.

Seeing Dushyant approaching Gulaal's room, the regular flashes of that unfortunate day that haunt him to this day, the truth he heard years ago, the latest rumors and street-gossips, the anger, resentment, jealousy and hatred returned. He is again confused. His emotions cloud his thinking. The false always has more impact than the truth. But obviously watching Dushyant being welcomed into her room, knowing the trauma Kesar has been in, we don't expect anything better.

Precap:

The slap was uncalled for. Given all the circumstances Gulaal is going through, it is still uncalled for. Kesar is an adult. And definitely Gulaal has no rights to slap him whatsoever.

In fact She was more civil to Dushyant when he had kidnapped her for all the lust he had on her.

This is an excellent point. When Dushyant nearly raped her, made all those advances, she never slapped him. But she slapped the innocent victim in this, Kesar when there is no doubt of his faithful love for her to anyone even her. The slap was so uncalled for that it spoiled the whole integrity of the serial for me. How does this love story recover from this?

Irrespective of who is older, a marriage is between equals.

Strangely enough before Kesar confessed his anguish to Gulaal, they were on an equal footing - but soon after she started to look and behave even more older than she usually does. While most (not all - Raman?) characters in the serial have changed for the better (Dushyanth, Giga) or worse (Talli, Sudha)...Gulaal has not had much opportunity for change or growth. As Paana said she chose to stay at her inlaws martyring herself to her husband's dreams. I do not agree with Gulaal's way of dealing with things - single handedly and very high and mightily - however, I did feel for her being the brunt of so many rumors and being pressured into a relationship. I hope that she starts to change - at this stage it is very hard to relate to her - she comes across as extremely rigid and harsh. The charm that we saw before the leap and the laughing sylvan nymph in the mango grove were attractive and made one smile - nowadays she makes you reach for the aspirin bottle or the remote.

Even though she objects to the pressure that JamnaK and PoonamBa are putting on her, she herself has subjected Talli and Kesar to a similar pressure - why? because they are in same age group and are unwidowed as yet?. Talli has been molded while Kesar has been unwittingly cornered into a decision that he did not come to himself..

I am not sure what the dramatic slap in the precap is all about - and I simply dont like slaps in dramas in any context (there have been some slaps in this serial, every 2-3 months). I miss the intensity, chemistry and the occasional lightheartedness of the Kesar - Gulaal scenes and do hope that this comes back - I would like to see some romance rather than this high tension "going nowhere-unexciting" track. The person who plays Talli is doing a good job, but the character is annoying - it grates on ones nerves to watch a girl throw herself at a guy in such a simpering manner. I for one am puzzled by the change in Sudha's character. Where is that strong, proud woman? Is she ever going to truly care for her adopted daughter? Has her life with Raman not taught her anything? Why dissuade your daughter (Talli) from self respect and economic independence? Why trap her in a loveless marraige?

billiant analysis ! all of have said all ...i think they are harping on dushyant gulaal kesar talli so much that they are now killing the essence of deeyarvattu and a relation between a young boy and elderly woman... usually in deeyarvattu dushy and talli character are absent... we only want to see the complexity tension sweetness denial acceptance in this relation i just want to seekes-gul tensed and complex relation but cv rather concentrating on this bold and basic subject are revovling themselves in side angles y????????

stupid gulaal how could she just go and slap kesar, isn't she supposed to be the more mature one, she had said to vasants portrait earlier that she was unable to control herself and kesar, well duh your not going to be able to control kesar if everytime he does something wrong you react with him like this, ignore him, not clear out the misunderstandings, run to your mayka and then on top of that slap HIM!! Gulaal you need a phyciatrist...
But even after all of this, i still feel sorry for you, and guiltly agree with you on that slap :( i mean one moment or another you were going to have to vent your anger and frustration weren't you, and then after all the expectations everyone has on kesar- him taking responso an all like vasant, kesar says that big speech, gulaal is bound to slap him, and if she didn't someone else would have!!
