Full disclosure: I stopped watching Gulaal after the Deeyarvatu and when they announced the leap I was rather hoping Rahil would come back. They've chosen to cast Neil whom I liked in Karol Bagh, so I was disappointed but excited anyway.
Now based on these few epis, I have to say he's doing a superb job. Look at his face when he eats that dish Gulaal's made for him - nostalgia, longing all captured in one close of the eyes. And again when he's just been mean to Gulaal and then finds out she hasn't eaten, waiting for him, that quick turn of the head, a couple of furious blinks because he's so moved.... fabulous.
I suppose good actors would kill for a role like this, with tons of backstory and character dynamics already established. And good to see that the leap seems to have galvanised the audience, at least going by this forum. When Gulaal started, we struggled to get five reponses on a thread, and now there are long 10-page debates 😊.
I hope the CVs keep it going.
