Six men from two lakh have made it to the finals of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. Profiling men who are fighting to become the nation's funniest man | ||
1. Ahsaan Qureshi (Madhya Pradesh) Qureshi has been a stage performer for the last 20 years. His jokes focus on political satire and social issues. He put in his name for the show at the behest of his friends. That it was also an opportunity for him to meet comic artistes like Shekhar Suman and Siddhu was an added attraction. Laugh out loud-Rating ** * Bina kaanch ki khidkiyaan, aur bina darwaze ki bus, gazab ki jach rahi thi, Keval horn chodh kar — Puri Bus baj rahi thi!! * Phaansi par chadte hue quaidi se nyayadheesh ne kaha, "Apni antim ichcha bataiye. Quadi bola, "Mere badle aap hi latak jaiye!!" 2. Parag Kansara (Vadodara) Kansara hails from Gujarat and most of his jokes are inspired by his immediate family — his wife, uncles and cousins. he believes that humour is all around us and there are many issues that can make people laugh. He has done shows in New Zealand, Fiji and Australia. Four years ago he had an audio release of his jokes in Gujarati. He has also done TV shows on ETV Gujarati (Wah Bhai Wah and Dhat Teri Ki) and on Doordarshan Ahmedabad (Gamat aur Gulal). Laugh out loud-Rating * * Imagine if this whole world was ulta.. socho agar tashreef (your rear) was called dil, this is what it would be: Aamir and Madhuri kehte — Humne Dil mein kaam kiya hai! Hum aapke Dil mein rehte hain… Makaan kiraye pe nahi milte kya?! Dil hai ke Maanta nahi… danda lo, abhi maan jayega! 3. Sunil Pal (Mumbai) Originally from Nagpur, Sunil has performed along with some of the biggest names in the Indian film industry. Pal has been an integral part of the Lagaan tour with Aamir Khan, and has toured with Sonu Nigam across USA, UK and Canada. His TV shows include Dhamaal No 1 on DD Metro, where he played the main lead. Laugh out loud-Rating ** * A man meets his Bengali friend and asks him, "Kaise ho?" His friend replies (in his Bengali accent of course), "Moje mein". The man asks, "Aur aapke maa aur baap kaise hain?" And the Bengali friend says, "Haan haan sab moje mein hain, aur aap kaise ho?" The man says to his Bengali friend, "Main toh hu joote mein" * Sharabi ne dhongi baba se poocha, "yeh kya chakkar hai, din mein tikka aur raat mein chicken tikka? Aapko toh Aastha aur Sanskaar channel dekhna chahiye jin pe dhaarmik programmes aate hain, aap Zoom TV kyon dekhta hain?" Dhongi baba says, "Main toh Zoom TV pe dhaarmik programmes hi dekhta hu – Just Pooja!" 4. Bhagwant Maan (Punjab) Maan is a well-known comedian in Punjab, who has over 20 audio/ video comic albums to his credit, which are popular worldwide. His is a political satirist and often takes digs at widespread social evils. He has done various stage shows in New Zealand, Australia, US and the Middle East. He has tried his hand at acting too, with a special appearance on Jugnoo Mast Mast, a popular comedy show on Zee Punjabi. Laugh out loud-Rating * * Air-India ki air hostess ne announce kiya, "Hum London se Dilli ja rahe hain, London se Dilli tak ki doori hum 8 ghante 20 min mein puri karenge, har yaatri apni jaan ka khud zimmedaar hoga. Agar hum apni marzi se utren to Dilli warna Kandhaar hoga" On arriving at Delhi, the announcement says, "Hum Dilli pahunch chuke hai. Bahar ka taapmaan 32 degrees hai. Jin yaatriyon ke paas 10 hazaar dollar se jyada cash hai, woh custom adhikariyon ko iski soochna de, kyunki inke bhi bachche hai!" 5. Navin Prabhakar (Mumbai) Prabhakar became interested in comedy as he found it a challenge to make people laugh. He can imitate almost 125 famous voices and enjoys imitating Sanjay Dutt, Pran and Sanjeev Kumar, the most. His most memorable experience as a comedian was his first world tour titled 'Heartthrob World Tour' in the USA, where he performed in front of a packed stadium filled with a 35,000-strong audience. Bollywood actors Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor were also part of the same tour. Laugh out loud-Rating *** Feroz Khan: Kahan ho, Reshma? Reshma: Main so rahi hoon Feroz Khan: Magar yeh vehicles ki awaz kahan se aa rahi hai? Reshma: Arey, main taxi main so rahi hoon, driver lene ke liye ruka hai Feroz Khan: Kya lene ke liye ruka hai? Reshma: Bhada lene ke liye, jyada samajh me aa raha hai kya? 6. Raju Srivastav (Mumbai) A stand-up comedian and mimicry artiste, Srivastav's journey for stardom can be traced way back to 1982 when he first came to Mumbai. He travelled from Kanpur to Mumbai in 1982. He has had bit roles in films like Maine Pyaar Kiya and Baazigar, and TV serials like Reporter, Dekh Bhai Dekh, among others. He has audio and VCD releases of his jokes, titled Haso Hasao, and has done various stage shows across the globe — US, UK, UAE, to name a few.
