Not exactly abusive. Mrs Bhalla mentions that her MIL was very strict and used to make her do a lot of work but eventually she grew close to her MIL and she became like a mother to Mrs Bhalla.

Shaila bua was a terror...Simi.manipulated her and got her to demand a meal and the famous chicken cooking episode of Ishitha happened.RKB have it back to her and Ishitha won over Shaila bua though her cooking of chicken was a fiasco and she washed and smelt her hands a hundred times.

That chicken episode was my fav..The way RKB defended IshitaAnd then their nok jhok..RKB calling Ishu as Silk Smita and Ishita calling him Pinky Kumar
