Tell us more about this festival. Don't know anything about it.💔

Chetri Chandra means (Moon of Chaitra) is a festival that marks the beginning of the Lunar for Sindhi Hindus. In short we call it as CHETICHAND😳.

Cheti Chand is basically a new year celebration mainly celebrated by Sindhi community....It is celebrated as the birthday of Ishtadeva Uderolal, also known as JHULELAL ( God of Sindhis ).

According to Sindhi ideology , we believe that Uderolal( another name of jhulelal ji ) was born in 1007 as people prayed to the Hindu God Varun Devon on the banks of River Indus to save them from the persecution by the tyrannical Muslim ruler This festival also remarks the arrival of spring and harvest..

Jhulelal is also known as God of water because he was considered to be the human form of Varuna, the depiction of fish (again a marine life) .
During the times of Indus civilization , majority of the Sindhis community used to live on the banks of river Sindhu ( hindi name for Indus River )hence they were named as SINDHIS ( Sindh ke area mein rehne waale log )...
See the map which I have put here for better visualisation..IMG_20230322_145046.jpg
Also since the civilization and the culture thrived on the banks of the Sindhu River, association of Lord Varuna can be explained.

I celebrate Cheti Chand by praying to the God of water to protect them from forced conversions. I do fasting , make offerings, and praying to the God of water.
We get up early in the morning to offer prayers to the sun god too.
In the evening , I and my family go to attend BERAINA.
BERAINA means people make idols of God JHULELAL like we do during Diwali for ram seeta.. basically juluss nikalte Hain....in Ajmer it's very famous and highly practised as almost 65% of the population is Sindhi there 🙈🙈🙈🙈.
In julus ,the people of Sindhi community sings hymns and religious songs related to JHULELAL.. and shopkeepers organise variety of food stalls ..Dal pakwaan and sweet rice are must for this function..
