That’s a cultural difference.. bengalis keep their maiden surname .. a lot of Elder ladies were just devi .. taking husband surname was a practice adopted recently

It is not the same in north India ( cannot say for sure in Maharashtra) but North Indians woman take husbands surname immediately

If I'm not wrong, Maharashtrians keep both surnames...Sai Joshi Chawan.

Maharashtrians do take husbands name... infact there is also a custom to change the first name, just like it was shown for Sai.

But the situation is changing now.

Since most of the girls are already employed by the time they get married, they prefer to keep maiden names as it is or like it was mentioned.. use both names together hyphenated.

Also, with or without taking the last name, the practice of changing the first name is almost gone now. Nowadays it happens if theres already someone by that name in older generations, so as to not confuse.

I have mentioned in one of my post a lady had to brake her marriage within three months of her wedding because the husband was involved in ema with his bhabi

But it's a fiction and we are not watching sabdhan India.. And Sai isn't someone who puts up with such nonsense in the name of love..

If Virat had ever loved her would be guilty putting her life in danger.. But he isn't..

There is a lady ips officer who sympathized with a person (actor) who kidnapped and tried to molest an actress seeing him in prison...

I don’t know about that .. but there was an IPS officer who filed for divorce after 10 years .. claiming she was harassed for dowry by in laws .. I was surprised reading about it

The society will never see a divorced woman through good eyes....how much educated she is and many woman will compromise for children....even if husband had affair the society forces wife to accept him...afterall he is a man...

It will be interesting if they reconcile and he doesn't reconcile with family. Can vankar atleast give us that?
