Part 4 - ‘Dil keh raha hai’

"Main jaanta hun Vahini aur ye bhi jaanta hun ki uske baad kya hua, jo shayad aap nahi jaante."

Shivani comes out just at that moment and realises that it is Sai.

With a mixture of happy, sad tears, hugs Sai tightly and doesn't let her go for a few minutes.

"Haan Sai, Mohit sach keh raha hai. Virat ko apni galti ka pachtawa hai. Aur ye bhi sach hai ki vo tujhse aaj bhi pyar karta hai. Tabhi to dekh vo thik ho raha hai"

“Mujhe ye sab nahi sunna hai Bua, jo ho gaya woh jaane do, please” says Sai fighting back her tears and leaves.

Sai has taken up the night shift today. A fight is going on between her Dil aur Dimaag. Finally, Dil takes over and takes her feet to his room. She peers through the door.

Virat is sleeping peacefully, the effect of medicines seems too powerful.

Sai quietly enters the room and moves to his side. It is in 5 years that she has been this close to him. His deep brown eyes are closed, Thank God, for she would not be able to look into them.

His breathing is calm, the injuries are mostly healed, what catches her eye though is that he is holding the end of her dupatta.

This brings up a lump she has been trying so hard to avoid.

“Maine aapse kaha tha na Mo… Virat Sir, main aapko kisi takleef main nai dekh sakti”

“Aaj bhi ye baat nahi badli hai, mujhe aapki aaj bhi parwah hai… shayad isliye aaj bhi, itna kuch hone ke baad bhi, main yaha aai hun”

“Vo din, vo aapke shabd main nahi bhul sakti, mujhe aapse pyaar ho gaya tha.. Mere Modak se… lekin aapne us din .. (barely controlling her tears).. Mujhe papers de diye”

“Kyun, kisliye, bina kisi explanation ke??”

Her voice is now trembling, hands are shaking and unable to stand more, Sai pulls up a stool and sits down.

“Kitna ironical hai na, aaj jab aap Coma se bahar aaye hai to Dr. Barve hame emotional consciousness aur perception ke baare main explain kar rahe the… ye perception tab kaha tha aapka? Kyun nahi realise hua aapko ki meri feelings bhi shayad badal gai hai? Hamara emotional connection kaise bhul gaye aap?”

“Isse pehle jab bhi maine jaana chaha, aapne mujhe roka, kai baar jor jabardasti se… phir us din kaise jaane diya?”

By now her tears have started flowing freely.

“Khair, jo bhi ho, aapne kuch soch ke hi kiya hoga, isliye maine bhi hamari dosti ka farz nibha diya.”

“Aapne jaane ko kaha, main chali gai, kabhi na milne ka vaada dekar!!!”

Sai gently puts her hand on his heart.

“Aaj bas itna hi kehne aai hun, ki agar aapke man main kabhi bhi thoda sa bhi kuch mere liye hua ho, to please uth jaiye. Get Well Soon. I promise I won't cross your path again. Just thik ho jaiye”

And with that, Sai runs to the Staff Room and in many years … cries her heart out.
