I had made a post after Saturday's episode regarding Sai and Samrat's conversation and wanted to continue it here... today was honestly one of the best episodes of Ghum in my opinion. Ayesha and Yogi's dynamic is amazing to see. They have such a comfort and ease with each other, and it comes across so well on screen. Yogi also brings a depth to scenes... a certain calmness and poetic way of delivering his dialogues. I did not like him at first, but he is improving with every single scene.

Samrat is able to look at SaiRat's relationship with fresh eyes. He is not an emotional wreck as both Sai and Virat have become, and neither is he someone from CN who has witnessed their relationship for the past year. He is someone who is looking at the entire situation from a new perspective....and yet, he knows Virat better than anyone else and seems to understand Sai better than anyone else already- not only because he relates to her pain, but also because he is the only one in that entire house who listens. And when I say listen, I don't mean just hearing what the other person is saying. He listens with not just his ears, but also his eyes, heart, and mind. And, that is why today- he saw right through both Virat and Sai. It is seeming quite clear that he will become a driving force in Sai's realization and SaiRat's ultimate union.
Once again, Sai's feelings were clearer than ever before. This entire conversation has been a much needed insight into Sai's heart that the audience was previously missing. She clearly states that she cannot have any expectations from a relationship that is fake. Once again, she is trying to save herself from heart break. She is refusing to let herself believe in the reality of this relationship, no matter how real it seems to her, because in her mind, Virat is someone else's. And today, Sai essentially acknowledged that she knows this relationship is more than a deal. She told Samrat that it would be a lie if she said there is nothing in between her and Virat- he does everything for her, shows her the right way, and she respects him more than anyone else. She knows this relationship is not just a deal, and yet, she cannot label it as that of husband and wife, because her mind won't let her... when that is all her heart wants. The way she said this is just a deal and sniffed away her tears- she was trying so hard to convince herself. She was trying so hard to hide her vulnerabilities- this deal has become the shield she is hiding behind to protect her heart.
And once again, today, Sai said that she knows Virat is a man of his word, so he will keep all of his vaadas. Despite all of his actions through which she can feel his love, she needs verbal affirmation. She already places emphasis on words, and Virat is someone she knows stays true to his. Little does she know that this man's words are more impulsive than her's.... she needs clarification from him. All she wants is for him to choose her. Not even confess his love... she needs him to clarify the past and end the vaada... and she will finally be able to let down her walls.
When Virat heard Sai's words, he said that he made the right decision not to confess and now he might never be able to. Again, the same pattern is repeating itself. He is too engulfed in his own emotions to see past Sai's defense mechanisms. He thinks that Sai has already made up her mind...that there is no point left to any of this. He was already broken before, but he is even more broken now. The way he was trying to interject into the conversation and correct her misconceptions was truly so sad.
It was nice to see that Samrat was so open with Sai about his own feelings. He knows that she will be able to understand his pain, so he was comfortable sharing it with her. However, even then, Sai stood firmly in defense of Virat. She told Samrat that Virat has never crossed the line with Pakhi, and always kept his distance. Again, Sai knows the integrity of Virat. She never intended to call him a 2 timer regardless of how harsh her words were during their fight. All she wanted to know was that she is the only one in his heart, not Pakhi...and yet, her brashness cost her that opportunity.
The most touching dialogue to me from today's episode was when Samrat told Sai that she does have a right to speak up in matters despite her age- that her words show how mature she is. That she does have a place in this house. Sai has been told time and time again that she is immature and does not have a place to speak up, and Samrat is the first person to tell her otherwise. Despite the fact that these two have only known each other for a few days, they are already becoming each other's support systems.
Samrat at this point already knew that Virat loves Sai. He asked her why else Virat would take her on this anniversary trip if the marriage wasn't real...and Sai point blank said that she is confused about this too. What hurt her most was that he kept it a secret... because to her, that made the relationship less real. She wants him to recognize her as his wife in front of the world... and again, if this relationship is real, why isn't Virat just telling her? To top this off, she believes that Pakhi is still in his heart, because he has never really told her otherwise. Samrat defending Virat here and saying that Virat would not do this to 2 women shows that even in his hurt and in his pain, he knows his brother and will support him. Virat was so broken at this, because again, to him, Sai never let him finish what he was trying to say... since all of her insecurities and defenses exploded in his face....
Samrat telling Sai that commitments don't last forever and people and feelings can change was the first step in him making Sai realize her own feelings and look at things from Virat's perspective. Again, he is the person that Sai has been needing all along....
The Sai-Samrat-Virat scene was truly beautiful. Virat is drowning in his own guilt so much so that he told Samrat he is not even worthy of talking to him. But, he still wants to explain himself... and yet, Samrat refused to listen, because he still needs time. I was annoyed that he shut Virat down, but after a year of not seeing Virat, all of his emotions have been reawakened. It is clear how much he still loves Virat, but he needs some time for the intense feelings of betrayal to subdue...
The most painful moment of the episode was obviously Virat announcing his transfer. He is trying so hard to be indifferent towards Sai, but you could tell that him telling her this news was breaking him more than it was breaking her. It is taking everything in his entire being to act this way with her. And, the way in which Sai was taken aback when he told her that there is nothing in between them for him to have to tell her or ask for permission- she was expecting him to go back to normal after the fight.... this is the first time that Virat has ever acted this way with her. From day one of their marriage, she was never just a zimidari to him... she will finally be forced to reckon with Virat's feelings and his perspective. Her realization is just now beginning... and it will be a beautiful yet shattering journey...
Once Sai leaves the room, Virat breaks down- and in that moment, Samrat becomes certain that Virat is in love... even in his pain towards Sai, Virat cannot fathom acting this way towards her... and more so than that, he cannot fathom leaving her...
Sai once again defended Virat to Samrat in the hallway. She told him how much Virat missed him and prayed for his return. Sai knows how deeply Virat loves Samrat and she will do everything she can to repair this bond. Her speaking about feeling so alone in the house and not having anyone was so painful to hear. All of these people in CN are Virat's family, not her's... the only person who she truly believes to be entirely her's (even if subconsciously) is Virat, and now he is moving away from her too... Virat has the place of her abba in her life... and the bittersweetness of her dialogue of just wanting 1 person to love her unconditionally was that she already has the person who would give up everything for her... she just can't accept it yet.... but, Samrat telling her that he will always be there for her was heart-touching. In Samrat, Sai has someone who truly looks at her like his sister irrespective of Virat's relationship to her......

A few last thoughts...
The lines that Sai has always used on Virat as a means to defend her heart... not just deal marriage, but also saying that her studies will get hurt/making up other excuses to not go with him on trips/carry out traditionally husband/wife duties.... Virat is now using on her to defend his own heart...
The roles have been reversed... but ironically, it is Virat putting up his walls that will finally enable Sai to drop her own... š
