How old was Devi when she had the baby? She is justifying Kaku's actions thinking she did that to save Devi Tai's life because she had a baby at a very young age and that Pulkit is a fraud.

She (likes to) believe that Kaku saved Devi Tai's name and her life from Pulkit and from shame

Any sane and morally sound person in pakhi's place would have made the point that if devi had a child outside wedlock, then wouldn't marrying her off to the man irrespective of his class status would be the more wiser solution to save devi and family's honour, not keeping her unmarried and mental at home for the rest of her life.
