Sai’s pov

We are having cultural program in our college and I am going to perform contemporary dance with Aniket on bollywood number. I have been rehearsing for it since 10 days. First these extra classes are sucking up my mind then these practice sessions are not leaving any energy in me for anything and as if this was not enough, from some days Virat is behaving very weirdly.

I dont know what has happened to him but he is being unnecessarily cranky, moody and annoying. Dont know why but whenever I do my dance practice at home or discuss about it with Aniket, Virat loses his cool and fights with me on pettiest of thing.

Today there was no extra class so I came back early. I entered in Chavan mansion hoping that aai will welcome me with my favourite cold coffee and all my stress will wither away. But has any day here gone without any family drama? As I stepped in another fight was going on but this time I noticed not only family members but even some mohalla aunties were there.

“I had warned you Shivani. If you had listened to me than we would have been saved from this embarrassment.” Kaku said as she hung her head in disappointment.

“But vahini these people are lying. I cant do any such thing. I didn’t know this truth about Amay.” Shivani bua clarified.

“Shut up! Woman like you dont deserve any respect. We will teach you a lesson today.” One aunty said then she marched towards Shivani bua.

I was in confusion as to what is happening here when I noticed that aunty had black paint bottle in her hands and she wanted to put it on Shivani bua’s face. What shocked me the most was nobody from the family was doing anything to save Shivani bua. That aunty was about to apply black paint on bua’s face when I jumped in between and held that aunty’s hand.

“Dont you dare to do anything like that with my bua.” I threatened aunty.

“She deserves this. She is shame in the name of woman.” Another aunty replied.

“Why all of you are silent instead of defending bua?” I asked from the Chavan elders.

“Because she is getting punished for her misdeeds. We had already warned her of the consequences but she still continued her affair with that Amay.” Ninad baba answered and Shivani bua started sobbing.

“Tell me clearly, what has happened?” I asked from Shivani bua.

She narrated the whole incidence how these mohalla woman came here and accused her of breaking someone else’s marriage by having an affair with Amay.

“What! Amay is married already?” I was shocked at the revelation.

“But, I swear Sai, I didn’t know that. He never told me anything. In fact he has cheated me not emotionally but also financially. But these women are pitting all blame on me.” Shivani bua sobbed.

The mohalla aunties again tried to put black paint on bua’s face but I snatched the paint bottle and threw it away. I also pushed one aunty a little away from bua. She clearly looked shocked from it. She complaint kaku about it and before kaku could have taunted me, I gave a befitting reply to everyone.

“You all are pointing finger on bua’s character, calling her all sorts of names but what kind of women are you? My bua is a victim not a culprit. Instead of punishing that Amay and sympathizing with bua, you are doing the opposite just because you have assumed that always women are at fault.” I questioned everyone.

“How can we believe her? She could be lying for all we know.” One aunty raised her doubt.

“You can trust her because I am saying so. I trust my bua completely. She can never do any such thing to another woman. You dont have any proofs against her. If you have to give benefit of doubt than why to Amay? Why not to me bua?” I answered back.

Virat’s pov

I had called Sai in the afternoon and se had said that today she will come home soon as there is no extra class today. So I too decided to surprise her by coming early. Though there is still no confession of love between us but these little things, these small surprises, little private jokes plays important role in our lives, makes us feel special.

Since few days I am not in my senses anymore. I dont know what happens to me at times but I just cant bear the fact that my Sai is praising, talking and even romancing...well not like literally but in dance moves,...she is doing all this with some other guy.

Aniket, this name has become the source of my irritation. Something burns inside me whenever Sai takes his name. Her eyes literally light up whenever she talks about him. Aniket is this, Aniket is that, Aniket is blah blah blah....I want to punch this guy right on his nose and break it forever.

I am jealous, I know it inside my heart but I want Sai to notice this, to understand my feelings through it but she is so engrossed in her dance practice and classes that she barely has time for me now a days. I dont want to be that control freak orthodox husband who dont allow their wife to make friends with boys but what to do? I want Sai all to myself. I cant bear even the thought of anyone except me in her heart. Call me obsessive, protective, crazy or whatever you want but I cant fight off this feeling of jealousy. Its driving me crazy.

I put an end to my never ending insecurities as I entered my house. I managed to have a smile in anticipation of spending some quality time with Sai today.

Sai’s pov

Those aunties were arguing with me and like always my family was supporting them against me.

“Enough! You all want proof right? Fine! I will give you proof against that Amay and prove how he cheated Shivani bua. He is the culprit not my bua.” I declared.

“Huh! We dont need your proofs we already know that this Shivani has trapped Amay in extra marital affair. And you, stay out of our way or else we will not spare you also.” One aunty said and came towards me also with paint bottle in her hands.

I panicked and looked at elder Chavans. Kaku was angry, baba had smirk on his face. Omi kaka and Shonali kaku were barely hiding their evil smiles, Karishma looked like she was enjoying the drama. Apkhi didi look satisfied with my insult. Only aai and had tears in her eyes. She was pleading to the ladies to stop their non sense. That aunty walked towards me and extended her hand, I was on alert to defend myself but it was not needed as we all heard a roar of a manly voice.

“What the hell is happening here?” Virat shouted.

We all turned to see him. I let out the breath I didn’t know I was holding. Though I didn’t need protection, I was capable of fighting off those aunties on my own but I didn’t mind additional help of Virat. I felt relieved and ran towards him.

“Are you ok Sai? Who are these people and what are they doing here?” Virat asked as he came closer and cupped my face.

I wanted to nothing more than to melt down in those arms and complaint like a kid how these people were annoying me and how the elders were supporting them but I controlled my emotions and told him everything clearly.

“I swear if anyone of you even thought of doing anything like that to my wife or Shivani bua then I will get you arrested and will see to it that you rot in jail at least for a week.” Virat warned them and all of them got scared. They finally decided to leave Chavan mansion and Virat promised everyone that he will investigate everything himself and truth will soon come out.

Later we both talked to Shivani bua and she told us all the details about Amay, how she met him, how he befriended her and how he keeps asking for financial help.

Virat’s pov

I cant believe, wise woman like Shivani bua fell for this crook Amay. That man has very cleverly wiped out all evidences against him. Now we dont have chance to file a financial fraud case against him. We have to build up new evidences.

I looked at Sai who was fuming with anger after hearing what all Amay did with Shivani bua and was in a mood to beat the shit out of him. I knew she was over enthusiastic so I warned her against doing any stupidity.

“Its a proper criminal case with financial fraud involved. That Amay is very clever fellow. You stay out of it Sai. I will deal with him and this case professionally.” I told Sai.

“What to you mean? Am I incompetent to bring justice to Shivani bua. If that Amay is smart then I am smarter, I already have one plan to trap him.” Sai said with her eyes shining bright with her idea.

“Sai, no......” I tried to warn her off but my phone rang in between and I excused myself to attend it.

Sai’s pov

I know Virat stil lconsiders me as immature but somethings I can handle better them him. And this time I gonna prove him that.

I was revising my plan to trap Amay but before I could have shared it with Virat he became busy on his phone.

“There is an urgent work. I have to go to present some papers in high court tomorrow morning regarding one of my case. So I’ll have to leave tonight only. I may have to appear before court also so I will return after two three days.” Virat informed.

Though I was sad to hear him but my excitement for my new plan for Amay was too much that the feeling of this brief separation from Virat didn’t even sink in.

“Sai, I am going for two days. I will be back soon. I will look into this Amay’s case as soon as I comeback. In between, please dont do anything stupid.” Virat requested.

I smiled sheepishly. Looked like he understood what was going on in my mind. But I assured him that I wont do anything stupid. Of course I didn’t lie but it was not full truth also. I wont do anything stupid but I will do the smartest thing by carrying on my plan to trap Amay. I cant wait two days. Amay can become alert in this time. I have to start my plan from tonight only.

Virat’s pov

What I thought would be a great day with me spending some quality time with Sai in the evening, turned out to be a disastrous one.

First of all that family drama regarding Shivani bua, then the truth of that Amay and now this urgent work. Rest of the day was spent in my packing and Sai again doing video call to Aniket to discuss about their performance and every other trivial issue.

I had also performed in functions during my college days. I dont know what is there to discuss so much. I think that boy keeps finding excuses to chat with Sai and my stupid wifey doesn’t understand it at all or even she enjoys his company.

When I finished the packing I thought to call Sai for dinner but saw she was already having her dinner while chatting with Aniket. I wanted to snatch the phone from her hands and throw it away.

I sulked and took my dinner plate in the balcony to have it peacefully where I will not get to hear the hyena like laughter of that Aniket. God! That boy...a typical college dude. Handsome, studious, talented, popular....I know this is stupid but I feel like I am in constant competition with this guy to have Sai’s attention.

Sai’s pov

I finished my dinner and my video call with Aniket. Virat as usual sulked seeing me busy on phone. I dont know whats his problem? He keeps giving me lectures on how he has seen this college phase but never wasted so much time on phone. I always answer that a whole decade has passed since he was in college. Now a days all the young people spend more time on social media and phone. Then comes his famous glare, ‘are you suggesting I am old’ look and I cant help but laugh at it.

I knew now he would be upset with me so I have to do something to make it up to him. I thought I will go with him to the airport to see him off. I went out to look for him.

Pakhi’s pov

Virat was sitting alone in the balcony so I went there to try my luck and see if I can get anything to instigate him against Sai.

“Where is Sai?” I asked to start conversation.

“She is inside, talking to his friend Aniket.” Virat replied and I couldn’t miss the green eyed monster which shine for fleeting seconds in his eyes.

“Hmm, jealousy...perfect ground for creating misunderstandings.” I thought and smiled.

“Virat, dont mind but sometimes I think that Sai is so much younger than you, this age difference must have its impact in your marriage...right?” I asked.

Virat immediately looked up. He eyed me suspiciously, “What do you want to say Pakhi?”

“No, please dont take it otherwise. I was just curious you know...its just my observation that both you and Sai are totally different in nature. Plus she is much younger than you. She might have friends in her college including boys of her age. Its very natural to get attracted to someone in this phase specially when you dont have anyone in your life around your age group who understands you...right?” I played my cards well and it worked. Virat opened his mouth to reply but couldn’t say anything. He was silent for sometime as if he could relate to my words. I smiled in victory, thats what I wanted. I wanted to say so much more that time but I had to be careful. I couldn’t ruin the moment. So I left him alone to ponder over the doubt I created in his mind about his relationship with Sai.

Sai’s pov

I came in the balcony and saw Virat was all lost in his thoughts.

“So I was right. You are upset with me. Arre baba I was just nervous about my upcoming tests and how will I balance everything with my performance and also tension at home...So I called Aniket and chatted for a while to take my mind off and I didn’t want to miss the dinner, I was hungry and you were busy in packing. so I had the dinner also.” I tried to give explanation.

“You could have shared your problems with me or am I too old to have a discussion like that.” Virat replied and I was shocked for a while.

“Now how this age issue came suddenly between us? I know you are already tired from work when you comeback to home so didn’t want to burden you more with my silly problems, thats it.” I answered honestly.

“Really? Are you sure? I mean you dont think that ...I am older than you...discussing your problems with me.....” Virat couldn’t complete the sentence. He was struggling with the right words.

I understood that he might have felt left out while I was chatting with Aniket. “You know, only you can think like that because you care for me so much.” I assured him.

“But Sai...” He again tried to say something but this time I hushed him with my finger on his lips.

“I feel I can share everything with you. You are the first person to whom I will come if I will have any problem.” I said looking into his eyes and he smiled at me finally.

“And, about the age factor, well, I find older men more sexy.” I winked at him and expressions on his face were worth million dollars. He looked shocked out of his wits. He wasn’t expecting this kind of reply from me. It was only after few seconds that he started laughing uncontrollably and I joined him too.

Later I went to drop him at the airport. It was only when he kissed me goodbye, the feeling that he will not be around me for few days, sunk in and I started feeling sad.

“God! I am going to miss this Virat sadu, khadus, older, sexy Chavan. Bappa! Give me strength to stay focussed and not go running after him.” I prayed.
