Yes it was such an anti climax then. It was to reinforce PP Ka suhagan status only. Baaki sab me to reinforce ho Gaya but khud pe hua ya Nahi?

There are four sub-castes under the Prabhu clan of Marathi caste system (all are at par) and CKP is one of them. CKP Brahmins are generally coastal inhabitants of Konkan and Western Maharashtra. So they are non vegetarians and seafood eaters. There are ckp food festivals held in many places in India because they are known for their non vegetarian cuisine. It's the only brahmin clan in Marathis that has non-vegetarian food habit. 😊 But Sai is a Joshi as per the show and she cannot be a CKP as Joshi is not a CKP surname.

You're right on everything except one small detail. CKPs are intellectually considered equal to Brahmins but are definitely not Brahmins. They are proud Kshatriyas who like to state that their ancestors fought with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (sometimes way too proud, I would know coz my family does that! 😆) Joshi is not a CKP surname though in any book.

Yes you are right but that's getting too much into the theoretical history. Ckps are considered higher than the other three Prabhu clans. And because they basically have been ratified by Shankaracharya's brahmin councils to wear the munj and study vedas, they are almost mistaken for Brahmins like others but they are "intellectual Brahmins". They are basically the in betweens of Marathas and Brahmins so depending on every CKP family tradition, they choose their identity.

My family identifies more with Brahmins, my husband's more with Marathas.

Added: also among historians of Maharashtra there is an academic debate whether ckps were linked to Somvanshis or were they Brahmins from the east who learnt warfare for self protection or were just Kshatriya descendants who were allowed to study vedas.😊 But that would be an overload of information for this forum where we are already trying to decipher true love and brahmachaar Ka vaada 😂

I didn't mean to get into theory, just wanted to state the obvious.

Apologies if it went in that direction.

Like you said, all this is way too complicated.

Nice to gain a different perspective on this from you though.
