Now she will spend the rest of her days running around like a good Indian bahu trying to please her husband who hates her and wants to ruin her life. This is a woman who was obviously competent at her job and could have been an independent, self sufficient woman and attracted a more liberal, modern thinking man instead of a loser like Akash. But in all of these silly shows, liberal modern thinking is portrayed as evil. Women working is considered unthinkable, something that can only be done in the most dire circumstances. I'm not even sure why they bothered to have these girls educated. What a waste of time and money. I'm surprised to see all these posts talking about what Gauri should and should not do, and no mention of what that snake Akash should be doing for her.

As for a physical makeover, Gauri needed that long back. Who wants a partner who they are not physically attracted to? This is just reality. You may think it is shallow but people have always and will always value appearance on some level. You needn't look like a goddess or a supermodel, but Gauri's problem isn't even her appearance--she has natural beauty. Her problem is how she presents herself. All she has to do is tweak her wardrobe a bit and get nicer glasses or contacts. It isn't that hard. Now of course she is married to Akash, a man who is hardly worth impressing, so it really doesn't matter either way. This goes both ways BTW. I won't tolerate a sloppy, outdated, and unkempt hubby either!

i ttly agree with ure first paragraph. shows like this portray women as house objects. seriously, they could be working and roshaning the family name and helping them in their financial troubles. seriously, wth is wrong with women working? i mean she can change her look if she wants, but who are we to tell her. she should change it because she wants to try something new not because she is under pressure to impress akash. i mean even if he does start to like her because she changed her looks, the marriage would be as u stated before a sham. wth??? i mean, marriage is of course based on looks to an extent, but seriosly, that is not the most important thing. she can get a damn makeover but it wont change the type of person she is. she is still gonna be same ol quirky gauri just a show piece now. seriously. i hate these stupid shows that pressure all women to look gorgeous. i think gauri is already pretty. she looks the same with and without her glasses. there is nothing wrong with glasses. she actually looks good in them. akash needs to love her for who she is - not just her looks. she already is pretty. she isnt that pretty, but she is attractive to a point. akash is not hot either. i think him and gauri make a wonderful match if u wanna base it on looks. maybe he should get a makeover too ;P
anyways, jokes aside, i understand what yall are sayin, but seriously. gauri is fine the way she is. she needs to update the way she acts and talks and presents herself. she needs to make sure that akash loves her heart, soul, and mind, before we get to face and body.

when it comes to makeover not all people are naturaly good looking but still if they try to change themselves make over help them.same in the gauri case she has capacity to look good.........i like her character but want change also.....
personality is demand of today world if somebody overshadow us just due to personality and make up then no body is bigger duffer than us.......
gauri is highly educated girl and why we study to compete with today world,to face the competition and to develop personality and still if we cry on people comment and not do a single effort to change ourself then its dufferness.......

no offence, but i have no idea what u are trying to say. all imma say is that looks are important, but there are more important things. please explain ure arguements because homie, i aint gettin a word across.
explain the dufferness arguement...i know what that means, btw. i just dont get what ure saying. sorry mate.

These arguments are interesting.
I just started to watch it post Akash-Gauri marriage, so I literally know nothing about her being educated and Akash being a duffer. Well, for the latter, I now know that he is a duffer from his behavior with Gauri after marriage, but I didn't have a clue before.
Why did Gauri marry him in the first place if she knew what he was like? And if she did marry him and he is treating her like she is a second-class citizen, then what she must do is stand up for herself.
I'm sorry, but if she's educated and if she has some self respect for herself, then she needs to tell him off.
These shows show women wailing and sobbing, solely dependent on some guy, who cares naught for them. It should really try to empower women, after all women aren't so helpless as these creatives make it seem like.
What is the point in crying anyway?
As for the makeover not changing Gauri's persona, I think it will give her a little self confidence, so she stops being such a klutz.
On a less serious note, if I were to be Gauri and if Akash would have behaved like that with me, I wouldn't even give that dude the time of my day. I wouldn't ask him to come to the family's wedding to be a hissa of the parivaar. That guy's character would be so unappealing that being in the same room as him would give me allergic reactions. I wouldn't even waste my time cooking Rajma Chawal for him ( I don't know how to cook, but if I did I wouldn't still).
Didn't Akash tell her to live her life like she pleased? She should do just that and ignore him while doing that.
There are times when a person should do things that make him or her happy.

you ae not getting my point but its very simple
why gauri always cry just due to her look........coz akash dsnt like her due to her look ,society criticize her due to look .she listen the comment from people and then argue over comments and again sit at home..........what she is doing to change herself instead of crying.she is highly educated why we get education to develop ourself ,to have self confidence but everything is missing in gauri........
thats what i want to say instead of crying and just bcoming mute in front of akash she show herself.........

If the fact that inner beauty should be held in high graces is true, then most women shouldn't feel obligated to slap lipstick on every morning.

Plus, this show is for entertainment purposes only. If the audience isn't amused, then the drama lacks its objective. We want to have an interest in the show and Gauri's makeover justifies that criteria.
Your second argument that marriages are not based on appearances is sugarcoated. Marriages are mostly based on that. An example right out of the show is during Gauri's muh dikhai when the women complain to Akash's mom.
We want to believe what's right, but that is seldom the case because society and peer pressure change those beliefs to meet the status quo.

And who makes up the society? We do. So if we change our thought process, society will eventually change too. Putting on lipstick or for that matter any form of make up should be completely ones personal thing. But suggesting this girl needs to brush up her looks so that this brash husband of hers gets interested in her is an insult to Gauri's character and to womanhood. Dressing up for your man makes sense only when he loves you just the same when you wake up 1st thing in the morning without make up, disheveled, and probably smelly mouth.

thats not the case.gauri doesnt need make over for society but for herself
if she is satisfied with her look why she always cry.. instead of giving big big tear she must face the society .she has not confidence in front of girls like tina so what is the need of education.just sit at home and do chula chownki....need of higher studies is to give answer to people like akash and tina she always remain dumb in front of them..what s the difference betwwen gauri and girls who are uneducated.........

i am more interested in akash gauri story
when it comes to gauri i am agree with those people who are talking about education, self confidence and akash marriage to gauri
education.........gauri just keep her degree at home coz there is no difference between her and girls who are not educated, even illiterate girls try to help themselves but gauri case is opposite......people give her rubbish omments she listen and then just move to room to cry
self confidence.........education give self confidence but she is totaly dumb in front of people like tina
akash marriage.........she knew very well what kind of character akash had.so what was the need of marriage she need brain surgery here........

The inner beauty thing , frankly , doesn't work in the marraige market .
It doesn't work either in an arranged marraige or in a love marraige .
In arranged marraige the man looks for .........beautiful and financially his equal .
In love marraige , the man falls hook , line and sinker for a beautiful girl . Thats the reason all the beauties r snapped up first in the college life .
Point is , beauty counts . Hard , bitter , fact of life .
Since this fact exists , I feel , women shud deal with it . It is not just marraige , even if ur applying for a job and u have an attractive personality , it is a bonus point . It is shown that Gauri does notice this that other girls in the office dress up stylishly and she does make a clumsy attempt to change to keep up with the times .
Everyone cannot fall in the born naturally beautiful category . Those r the lucky few , belonging to the ten percent criteria . But whatever looks one has , refining them more , dressing well , keeping the figure in check , sculpting urself as a woman and looking ur best is good for any woman .........not just for hooking a man , but for herself too . Which woman doesn't feel good when she breezes through the office doors confidentally , her tummy fit not loose , the dress that she wears sutiing her complexion and accentuating her figure , her legs and hands waxed but not hairy ,her hair conditioned and sporting the latest look , smelling good coz she has used a lovely perfume ........which woman on the earth does not feel good like this ?
So where does dressing for a man come in this thing ? That is secondary and purely by choice . Gauri needs a makeover for herself first , Akash is secondary .
The feminist viewpoint ..........dressing for a guy is demeaning thing . I think that is hypocritical . However educated , brilliant a woman is , she is essentially feminine , and it would definetely please her when her man gives her a second look if she looks extra special that day . A woman dresses up for her man not just for him , but coz she wants to . She wants to be his woman ..........this is a very delicate woman thing here and I often feel most of the hard headed feminists are unable to grasp this finer point of a woman's emotion and miss something totally here !
About the man dressing for the woman thing .........well of course it goes both ways . Who wud like a sloppy , unshaved husband ? { Personally , I think an unshaved man looks great .] But again , face the hard bitter fact of life . How much can the poor man do besides having his monthly hair cut , keeping or not keeping a mustache or beard according to his wife's desire , shaving reularly , wearing a body deodarant and showering twice a day ? I mean get real here , each man cannot go on steroids and hire a personal trainer and get biceps and six packs like Salman or SRK . Besides men donr get pregnant and dont have pre menstrual bloats and often sport a fit body till they turn fifty while the pregnancies change their once atrractive wives into complacent fat mummies ! So factually speaking naturally the woman has to be on her toes to look attractive all her life , it is the burden she is born with , just as the man is born with the burden that he has lesser or no control over himself in the bedroom while his wife is perfectly capable of turning her back to him and going off to sleep ! Thers r nature's burdens , one has to accept them and deal with them. Each has its own .
I love it when my husband asks me to dress up for him in a particular way . If I choose a pink dres and he asks absent mindedly arent u gonna wear the lemon yellow one ?It looked nice on u ..........I have no problems wearing that for that makes me feel great as a woman . I love his absent minded noticings .........they make me feel so much like a woman and him so much like a man !😆 The feminist stubbornness of go ahead , wear the pink , assert urself simply doesn't work here . I am asserting myself , but as a woman .
So Point of this irelevant speech is ..........Gauri needing a makeover is long due , it is not Akashs fault . Her brain makeover is even longer due but she may not get it . Makeovers in serials lead to sex and immediate pregnancies ...........goals of women according to mcp serial makers . Besides all said and done Gauri chose Akash .Now let her deal with it .

agree with you totaly thats reality
even very beautiful girl with white skin is not demand of men.they demand girl who have nice personality who is ready to face world........even dark looking girls have personality and they look beautiful
here we are not talking about skin beauty we are talking about gauri personality she needs makeover for herself.........
