But thats not just ANY guy.. tahts her PATI.. and right now he is despising her looks.. infact he didnt even want to marry her, mainly because of her looks
And lets be practical.. love needs to feed on attraction to bloom..

agree with you totaly thats reality
even very beautiful girl with white skin is not demand of men.they demand girl who have nice personality who is ready to face world........even dark looking girls have personality and they look beautiful
here we are not talking about skin beauty we are talking about gauri personality she needs makeover for herself.........
A beautiful girl with white skin is what most families want in their daughter-in-law. It happens here in America too. I don't think Gauri lacks personality, but a little confidence in herself would help her a lot.
To those who disagree with the idea of Gauri getting a makeover, all I can say that it's just a show which is not heavily reality-based. If it was reality-based, then a makeover wouldn't be necessary. We would just wait for Akash to fall in love with how Gauri really is. Since it's not the case here and because it is a creative innovation, those ethical values do not neccessarily have to apply here also.

Putting on lipstick or for that matter any form of make up should be completely ones personal thing. But suggesting this girl needs to brush up her looks so that this brash husband of hers gets interested in her is an insult to Gauri's character and to womanhood. Dressing up for your man makes sense only when he loves you just the same when you wake up 1st thing in the morning without make up, disheveled, and probably smelly mouth.

girl talking about society, YOU ROCK!. i ttly agree with u. telling someone to change their looks is outrageously an insult. oh hott damn. but seriously, u ttly said what i wanted to say. last sentence = exactly what i am trying to say. MAKEUP IS A MASK. YOU CANT HIDE BEHIND IT FOREVER. ;-)

mascara in spanish means mask. )there is a poin to this point) u cant hide ure true identity in mascara. its only a temporary mask. :)
clever? yes. stupid? kind of. profound. fosho! (yes)

For entertainment purposes only, I think that she should alter her looks. And if that's not possible, then she definately needs to grow a back bone.
You guys are all arguing that it's not realistic and what not, then why make this part (husband loving the real her) real? Jhanvi marries some guy, whose family is virtuall unknown to her.......is that real? An educated girl marries some mindless jerk knowingly.......is that real? Women decking themselves up in sarees and jewelry everyday...is that real? What we watch on TV shouldn't really be taken seriously.
Now in real life, it is important that the husband loves the wife for her inner traits and not only for her looks. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is a much needed emotion.
I hope this cleared my point of view.

Hmm.
The Makeover is needed to show Gauri taking a control of her life , by taking a good hard look at herself , people around her , and wondering where she lacks . The makeover has to be physical and spiritual both . She has to stop being a cry baby , discard all those old age values that dont work in this age , recognize that if she uses Satya Yuga techniques in Kaliyuga age , they wont work just like the tools of bygone eras found in archaelogical excavations today wont work , howmuchever we value them . They r rich , so her services r not needed in the house so much , like her mother in law she can go to the office , sit by her mother in law's side , watch her work , make decisions and learn from her by accepting her as a mentor . Discarding Akash , she shud make her mother in law her goal , and when Her sasumaa bequeaths all the inheritance to her , she shud simply accept it , instead of becoming mahaan like a sati and saying no no let Akash have it . Having accepted the inheritance , she shud excel as a business woman................this shud be her spiritual makeover , growing a spirit and a backbone both .
Side by Side , she shud pay attention to her physical makeover too . She shud wear decent dresses , get lenses or change the frame of her glasses , do sumthing to her hair , and become stylish . She shud wear gorgeous saris to Indian functions but executive type tailor made suits at the business office meetings , exquisite salwar khameezes occasinally and lovely nightwear while sleeping , not zari saris and jewellery like a nut case . She shud love herself is my point .
Nowhere is anyone saying that both these makeovers r for Akash . These make overs r for self development . Which every woman shud do as she owes it to herself .

Gauri is actually really pretty she just needs to get rid of her glasses.
I actually don't mind her old fashion looks because her personality goes with it and it would actually be disappointing to see Gauri all modernized.

What's this whole deal with company image? Who cares if she is not modern looking?

Lets say that she does changer her physical image...then Akash will only notice her for her beauty and not the person she truly is inside!!!!!!! that is not good at all is it? He needs to accept her for who she is - glasses and all!!!!! If he can't accept her for the person she truly is inside and outsude, then he needs to jump off a cliff or atleast get the h**** away from her. Marriage is not based on appearence, it's based on love and trust. If he can only love her if she looks like a supermodel, then he will never find love because that's not what love is about.

Gauri does not need to change for NOBODY. (anybody). She is beautiful in all respects.
hot guy does not need a gorgeous babe - love is not about that.

word.

These days marriage is all about looks. It especially sucks for girls not only in this show but in real life if you don't look pretty no boy or his family even looks at you. This is why my mom made me stop wearing glasses and forced me to get contacts lol. Basically the point is Indian marriages are arranged marriages and the top two things that people look at is appearance and education and in real life you won't get mother in-laws like Devyani who accept you because she likes your personality. This whole love and trust thing really doesn't work because the people don't really know each other much. Marriages are definately based on appearances these days. It's just reality.
