"Well then you should just talk it out with her... instead of being sulky and moody about it..", he munched some of the cornflakes from the packet as he was trying to feed Amy her favorite strawberry flavoured cornflakes.
"Sulky? Moody? Oh... five months in to marriage and now I am sulky for you, huh?", complained Geet in her husky whiny voice.
Mia looked at her father quizzically and he just winked at her assuring it was ok. Mia tried to hide her laugh.
"Yeah yeah, team up with your super dad now..", she didn't even leave little Amy.
"Mumma I love you...", Amy was quick enough to undo the damage.
"Awww mera shona bacha..", she bend down to kiss her on the cheek.
Maan joined too, "Me too love you Geet..."
He expectantly showed his cheek and received a frown from his wife. Frustrated Maan took a mouthful of cornflakes and cringed with disgust, "Damn these things are too sweet.."
"But I love them papa..", Mia said innocently.
Maan smiled and kept chewing on, "Of course kiddo..papa love them too.."
Liza signalled him to go after Geet and continued to feed Amy.
Maan went behind her calling out loud to overpower the noise of telly which played the Despicable Me 2 movie in the background.
"Mishty listen to me...", he pleaded entering the bedroom.
"Really? you want to ruin our weekend like this?", he asked softly.
Geet sighed and sat on the bed her head resting on the bedrest, "But Ramona is just getting on my nerves. Why is she not onboard?"
"Well, isn't that your job to convince her?", now that he found an opening to reason with her Maan sat by her feet and rubbed them gently pressing her toes.
"hmmm...", she revelled at his gentle gesture of care.
Suddenly she opened her eyes and moved her legs back, her knees now folded towards her body.
"And I can't believe you didn't second me when you had a chance?", she accused.
"Like I said that is your job. I can't interfere because you are my wife."
"No you wont interfere because you think then everyone might say you seconded me becuase I am your wife!"
"OK...let me process this. You had this idea of creating an app for Paegeant. But Ramona is not on board because she doesn't think the time and effort for that would be worth the money. Personally I think she is against it because it wasn't her idea...she could not pitch it. Anyway where am I in this whole picture? It's between you and her. The board will approve only if you both are in agreement."
"And you are the chairman of that board!", she reminded.
"Oh so I could just veto everyone out? You think I don't have to deal with these kind of issues? Everyone just nods at whatever I propose?"
Geet asked meekly, "Don't they?"
Maan was exasperated. He demonstrated dramatically with his hands as he explained how much in control of his life was he at the moment, "My five year old daughter dictates that I eat those overtly sweetened strawberry cornflakes for breakfast! That is how much people agree to me!"
Geet couldn't help but laugh. He moved closer to her and placed his hand over her shoulder as he kissed her arm. "Seriously they are awful. I would have sued them if they were not her favourite."
Geet giggled as she squirmed under his kisses, "Maaan... *giggles* she only wants to match her breakfast with you.."
Maan closed his eyes as he kept kissing her arms down to her elbows and then her long fingers, "I know. Why else do you think I endure eating them?"
She hugged him. "You are adorable...when you are not the boss."
He made her lean on the bed and kissed gently on her lips, "Go after her, convince her. It will work out! I'm sure..."
"hmm", she moaned as she leaned towards him for another quick kiss, "By the way you do remember that she is going to be six next week?"
"Who Ramona?"
"Maan!", she whacked him on the arm.
"oww.. Of course I do. Dadima and Annie are teaming up for a party. It will be easy to surprise her at the mansion."
"hmmm...sounds good.", agreed Geet.
"Alright, now get ready. We have that doctor's appointment today.", he moved off her when she held him by the hand.
"Would you resent me if I am not able to give you kids Maan?", she asked hesitantly.
Maan looked at her with a baffled expression, "What? We are just going for a regular check up! It's nothing to worry about."
"Yeah but we have been trying for what now 3-4 months?", she asked skeptically.
"How about this? Even I got myself checked with you na. Will you resent me if I can't impregnate you?", his tone was full of sarcasm.
"What rubbish Maan?", she threw the pillow at him.
"Yeah, it's not only you who is allowed to throw rubbish! Besides we already have a wonderful daughter who is quite a handful!"
Geet laughed, "And makes you eat starwberry cornflakes!"
Maan shook his head and laughed as he went to take a shower.

"Mr and Mrs. Khurana, your reports are normal. You two are healthy individuals."
Geet hesitated and then finally decided to ask, "But then doctor why is it taking us so much time to conceive?"
Maan shut his eyes making a face. Why was she so caught up with this idea, he never understood.
The doctor smiled, "Well look at it this way. You both are fine. No issues there. So you will be able to soon if you just keep trying."
Both Maan and Geet nodded unanimously.
"By the way Mrs. Khurana how often do you two get together..", the doctor waited for them to realise what she implied.
"Twice" "Thrice" both of them said in unision.
"Twice a week? Well I guess you could definitely work on that in order to increase the chances.", the doctor went on.
Both Maan and Geet looked at each other embarassed. And then Geet informed as she was blushing red, "Dr. What we meant was on an average twice a day at least..."
The doctor was decent enough not to react on that,"Well then, that seems pretty fine. Mrs Khurana I can suggest you certain postures post-copulation in order to increase your chances."
She took out a pamphlet and handed it to her, "here. Take this."
\
When they were in the car Geet looked confused staring at the pamphlet, "What am I a gymanst? How does she think I can stand like this?"
Maan looked at her staring at the pamphlet and tried to control his laughter. "Mishty, you are holding it wrong"
"What?"
"The pamphlet. It's upside down."
It was then she noticed that and laughed innocently.
"Geet, don't beat yourself up about that. It will happen at the right time.", he assured her.

The next Monday morning Maan was surprised to see his dadima in the office. They had went over the mansion on Saturday for lunch and left by dinner only.
"What happened dadima?", he inquired politely.
"We need to talk!", she declared after carefully closing his cabin door.
"About what?", he was still puzzled.
"Dev", replied dadi firmly.
Maan's face stiffened. Any trace of politeness was now off the window.
"What about him?", he inquired formally.
"What about him? He is your brother Maan, no matter what! He is stuck at New York. He is in debts with all the expense going to US and trying to bail out NT"
Maan had no emotion on his face, "That is not my problem!"
"Please Maan! I am not asking to forgive him. But at least you can lend him a hand and get him back here. I could visit him whenever I wanted to see him."
Maan's tone softened a bit, "Dadima you sent him away so that he could learn his lessons. This is not the time to lend him a hand and make him dependent on others again. Besides that, how could you even imagine I might be willing to help him?"
"Because I thought you loved me. And Dev is your family. You can't help it."
"Look dadi, I have loads of work to look at. We will talk about this later over the weekend. Please. You should probably leave now. I would hate to keep you waiting."
"Ohh are you asking me to get out?", dadi was equally stubborn.
"No dadi. I am saying we will give it some time. Thats all."
"Don't think I am going to leave this Maan. If I am your dadi you will have to listen to me."
"You can't make me do anything that I don't want to do!", retorted Maan.
Geet was walking out of Adi's cabin after a brief budget meeting for the magazine during the current quarter when she saw dadima arguing inside Maan's cabin.
'Are they fighting?', thought she. As much as she wanted to know Geet was wise enough not to interfere between dadima and his grandson. But she did wait for dadima to come outside.
"Dadimaa... How come you are here?", she asked with a pleasant smile.
"Why? Did you also not like it that I am here?", dadima was definitely not in a good mood.
Geet quickly corrected, "No no dadima. Why would you say that? I am so happy you are here!"
Dadi smiled after realising that it wasn't Geet's fault that her husband had such a sharp tongue.
"I came to see Maan.", she pursed her lips.
Geet sensed the tension. "Meeting Maan in office? You have no idea how much of a devil he is when he is a boss!"
Dadima smiled. "I think I got a taste of it."
"Lets go to the food court and have some treat. Come on dadima..I had to discuss something about Amy's party. Only with all these work things I never get the time to call you."
And then Geet finally got dadima into her usual funny self over a quick snack and tea.
Once she sent her off she dialled Maan's number. "Maan?"
"Geet, why are you calling me?"
Geet rolled her eyes. All she did was say his name and he was alreay annoyed. Something was definitely wrong between Maan and dadi. She knew it for sure. If she only she knew what, she could fix it.
Maan on the other hand could not shake off whatever dadi said. The thought of even thinking to help Dev was getting him on his nerves. It felt asif he was doing wrong to his wife and Mia! That man deserved no help or sympathy from him. He didn't deserve to be a family.
"Hellooo...", interrupted Geet
.
"What is it Geet?", he was getting more and more irritated now. Hearing her voice only asserted his anger.
"I have tried every trick on the book and Ramona is not budging...Anyway.."
"Geet! I told you, didn't I? I told you to grow up and solve your own issues! Why am I being held responsible for every mess you guys make? Why should I solve it? Huh, people who make the mess should know how to get rid of it!", he yelled as his emotions finally burst out at the wrong place.
Geet had her jaw dropped, "Wait a minute! What mess did I make, huh? Besides I was not complaining or asking you to solve anything! I just vented out my heart to my husband! That's not even why I called you. I was stressed out and wanted to go out for lunch! But now, I guess don't need you after all. I will eat with Pinky!"
She hung up. Maan shut his eyes tightly biting his lips. He did it again, didn't he? He was angry at something else and took it out on her without hearing her out!
"When am I ever going to learn?', he cursed himself rubbing his forehead.
