Chapter One
Inside the doctor's cabin: "Maan bete, I have already explained everything to you. I don't understand aakhir tum itni zidd kyu kar rahe ho. Tumhare liye to Geet zyada zaroori hai. Phir aaj ye achanak baby kaha se beech mei aa gaya?"
Dr. Kritika was trying to knock some sense into Maan's thick head. The lives of her friends' kids had changed within hours. The geet whom they all witnessed laughing and smiling few weeks ago, had changed completely. She had turned into a silent, gloomy and moody girl. Simply drowning in her books and studies, she had even stopped accompanying Maan and Annie for yoga classes.
She would either sit silently all day long, or sometimes try to run away into the nearby woods. The natural beauty and cool afternoon breeze would provide solace to her troubled little heart. Barely 18 years old, she was a victim of circumstances.
Her own friend had cheated her terribly. She had been robbed of her smile, her innocence and also her dignity. Vikram had just pretended to care for her. But in fact, he had dark intentions about her, which were revealed during the prom party evening. When she regained her senses, everything was gone. It was just darkness and suffocation all around her.
"Aunty main to ye baat achhi tarah se samajhta hoon. Lekin ab jo bhi huwa, us mei us masoom ki kya galati hai? Wo bechara to ab tak is duniya mei paida bhi nahi huwa hai. Usko to is duniya mei saans lene ka haq milna chahiye. Jo bhi Vikram ne kiya geet ke saath, uski sazaa us begunaah masoom bachhe ko kyu mile?"
"Dekho Maan, maine Geet ka ek psychiatric evaluation karwaya hai. According to experts, wo is baby ke hi kaaran us incident ko bhool nahi paa rahi. Agar ye bachha is duniya mei aaya, to saari zindagi Geet usko dekh kar wo haadsa yaad karti rahegi. We don't want her to lose her carefree life or her mental stability. Uski zindagi bachane ke liye ye abortion ho jana bahot hi zaroori hai. Please try and understand."
"Fine aunty. Jaise aap keh rahi hain, waise hi hoga. Main ab se Geet par bilkul pressure nahi daalunga. Uski man marzi ke mutaabik hi sab kuch hoga. Wo jaise chahti hai, aap waise hi kijiye. Main ab chalta hoon."
Saying so, maan exited the doctor's office and drove his car homeward. Now perhaps Geet won't be sad. Once she knows he has agreed to abort the child, she will feel relieved.
As he arrived after asking the guards to park his limo, Maan looked up while coming inside. Geet was sitting upon the couch. Seeing him come in, she smiled and getting up quickly walked forward. Giving maan a big hug, she lowered him upon the sofa. Maan too grinned and engulfed his love in his arms.
Inhaling the beautiful fresh fragrance of her body, he closed his eyes and held geet closer. For the moment, he just wanted to forget the whole world. All that mattered to him was Geet's happiness. He knew he could not sacrifice her safety due to his own preference.
Sometime later Maan went to his Dad's study. Yash was there with Daadi and Dadaji. The trio smiled at maan and as he sat down, bombarded him with questions.
"Kya huwa maan, kya kaha doctor ne?" Yash asked his son. He wanted his daughter to be safe and happy. She was the only symbol that remained behind. The sole reminder of his beautiful friendship with his brother like pal, Mohinder.
"Dad doctor ne kaha ki agar Geet ko uss trauma se bahar nikaal na hai toh, uska abortion kisi bhi haalath mei hona hi chahiye. Baby ka janam hi uski sabse badi problem hai. Agar ye baccha is duniya mai aa gaya, to Geet apna past kabhi nahi bhool payegi" Maan finished with a tired sigh.
All the events since that fateful night were testing his patience at every moment. He was drained of the remaining energy, and wanted few moments of peace.
The elders too decided to go ahead with Geet and Maan's decision. Nothing mattered more to them than their children's happiness. They just wanted their smiling, chirpy, chatterbox Geet back. For this they could do anything under the sun. Getting the happiness of their child back was the only goal in front of them, and they were determined to achieve it. Either by hook, or by crook.
So guys, here's the first chapter. Now come on and start commenting. I 've spent a long time thinking this up.
