Once upon a time a man and a woman fell in love but such a thing doesn't last. For the heart is treacherous thing and love, love is nothing more than a fairytale' Huntsman: Winters War

I love this quote, and this made me realise I hadn't done a fairytale yet although I mentioned a few in most of my FF/SS. So finally after a few nights thought, I have succumbed to the heart's desire lol but it could only be the one and only Cinderella, my very own adaptation (exciting).

Reasons for Cinderella: Well I watched every single adaptation there is (I think), right from Cinderella (1,2,3 animation) to Cinderella (2015). Some personal favourites: Ever After, Ella Enchanted, Cinderella Christmas, After the Ball and A Cinderella Story. Hence had no other option really. Although I love all things fairy and tale.

A story of the Modern Cinderella

Over the hills and far away, where little boys and girls were kept at bay; lived the beautiful Geet. Poor thing lost her mother during childbirth, though her father; Mohinder lost no hope, giving her everything she ever wanted. Life was perfectly harmonious until he remarried falling under the pressure of his old ailing mother. At the age 3, Geet welcomed her step-mother who in reality was her Aunty, her mother's real sister.

'Who better to be Geet's mother than Rani' Mohinder argued, afterall blood is thicker than water. Obviously, the father thought Geet being Rano's last reminder, Rani will cherish his apple. But little did he know that Rani was no longer the sister that truly loved her younger sibling. She was now a divorcee with two daughters, the hard world turned her cold even to her own niece. And that's how another fairy-tale began, the tale of Geet Handa a modern Cinderella.

Several years later

Deep down in the murky basement of a small cottage slept a beautiful nymph. Dreaming of a place where she was treated like an other; somewhere were she laughed and played. Somewhere that was filled with bright colours, where she was free. Somewhere with her father, who now lived only in her memory. Mohinder died in a car crash a few years ago leaving Geet in the clutches of her evil step-mother and her daughters, Sasha and Tasha.

You see life wasn't exactly easy for Geet Handa, who lived a life no better than Cinderella. But the woman was made of steel, nothing could hamper her spirit at least not until she found her Prince Charming.

'Good morning baba' she wished with a broad smile like every other morning feeling the sun kiss her face, thinking it to be a blessing sent by her father and then ran upstairs to begin her chores before leaving for work, the only respite in her hard life.

'GEEETTT' came the agonising scream from Sasha and Tasha in sync like every other morning

'Where's my breakfast?' screamed Sasha from the stairs

'Breakfast' Tasha commanded sitting at the dining

Sasha and Tasha, twins by birth and annoying by nature. They are not only irritating but impeccably stylish, lazy and cruel. Sasha being the older one, although by 10 minutes thought she ruled the world. Gifted with pale skin and a brighter brain, made her the more superior one often making Geet's life hell. Tasha however, was slightly darker and shorter but the woman had a mouth of a razor, ripping anything that made contact. Unfortunately, it was always Geet who ended up bearing Sasha snide remarks and Tasha crude accusations.

With an 'I'll hop to it' Geet rushed towards the kitchen. Quickly placing everything on a tray, she walked back to the table where the girls feasted while she slogged it out in the kitchen meeting their huge demands.

'Geet'

'Yes Mother' Geet answered timidly turning over her shoulder trying to balance the hefty tray which now contained empty dirty utensils

'How many more times should I tell you this?' Rani rebuked scaring Geet who stood in the hallway that was placed between the dining room and the kitchen

'I'm not your mother, don't want to fall prey of your evil charm. Who knows what your bad luck is capable of, first my sister and then my husband fell short in front of your blackened fate' they may be just mere words, but each one cut right through her fragile heart.

'You can call me Maasi or Madam' Rani tried seeing the well of tears brewing in Geet's eyes, but did that do anything to her hard demeanour. Ofcourse not, Geet should be accustomed to such behaviour since there was no such thing called love or affection in Rani's dictionary for the poor girl who lived under her mercy.

'I want the house spick and span by tomorrow' Rani voiced loud and clear while Geet tried to cradle the utensils on top, balancing the heavy tray was taking too much off her small frame, the small frame that was already overburdened.

'Why Maasi?' Geet dared to ask

A prospective groom would come to see Sasha, at least one should get married' she mocked knowing Geet's father wanted to marry her off although her daughters were older, adding fire to Rani's spitefulness.

'I will take my daughters to town today for shopping, we will stay over at a B&B (motel) for tonight but I want everything organised here by tomorrow before my arrival' Rani commanded

'OK maasi' Geet took a mental list of all the snacks and food that need to be prepared before leaving for the kitchen, not once did her maasi ask her if she wanted to deposit the heavy load never mind if she needed help.

Over on the other side of the city, a man no less than a Prince awakened and slowly walked into his Italian styled bathroom, one that was fit for royals. Once impressed with his dressed self in the mirror, he then leisurely walked out of his room.

'That's it Maan, I can't tolerate this waiting game no more' Dadi stared squarely at her only grandson over the breakfast table. The table itself could seat a total of 20 guests and that's only for breakfast. So imagine the grandeur!

'Dadi what is it now?' Maan as usual tried to avoid the subject, the 'Marriage' topic had sparked right from the moment he had returned home from abroad

'Your wedding ofcourse, its high-time you settle down' Dadi stressed feeling worn out seeing their constant debate fizzing into nothing

'But dadima I'm not ready yet'

'I don't care, I've organised a party tonight and invited all the single girls I know. Choose a nice girl and settle down, Khuranna Construction can wait' Dadi ordered

'Adi' she shouted asking him to overlook the arrangement leaving behind a baffled Maan.

'So what's on the agenda today' Pinky mocked very well knowing another chore list awaited for her dear best friend

'Someone's coming to see Sasha tomorrow, unfortunately that means I have a lot to do tonight' Geet solemnly stated not liking how every night her sleep was affected. With all the chores she had to finish, sleep naturally took the backseat.

'Has your evil step-mother got nothing better to do other than harass poor little you' Pinky was outraged seeing her best friend grind out for people who cared less

'It's not like that'

'IT IS EXACTLY LIKE THAT' Pinky screeched out loud catching the attention of colleagues that sat nearby in the cafeteria.

'and when hasn't someone come to see that good-for-nothing sister of yours' this time lowering her tone, when even after 5 minutes Geet nothing more both left for their classes, one in brooding anger and the other in sulking depression.

Thanks to Mohinder, Geet was able to complete her studies and find a decent job as a Teacher at Khuranna Academy where she worked along with Pinky, teaching young children Maths and English helping them in their later life. After Mohinder died, Geet continued working since she was the only breadwinner left in the Handa family. Sasha and Tasha may be educated but were too fragile to work, and Rani well she's above the social norm and the working class.

'Dadima please' Maan tried once again galloping down the stairs after her taking two at a time. His grandmother, Ms Savitri Devi was as tough as a trunk

'Adi is the designer here' she ignored too busy with an aim to get him hitched or at least booked

'Geet I've asked papa to start on the dishes' Pinky saved the day yet again

'Pinky seriously it wasn't needed'

'Please, as it is he doesn't have any orders, that new Italian restaurant on the other side of the road has taken all our customers' the frustration could be clearly heard

'Thank you so much hun' Geet heaved feeling slightly relieved, although she left equally bad for Merchanda uncle.

'Its ok doll, but we have to go over and collect the food by midnight before he closes' Pinky instructed hailing a cab finishing off for the day at the school.

'What's wrong?' Geet asked when the car jerked to a stop

'Are you girls OK?' Dadi asked seeing Geet and Pinky standing in the busy street, it was only 5pm but the grey sky already clouded the city lights and people were racing to get home to their family in the rush

'Taxi's broken down' Pinky started seeing their boss elegantly get down of her car and walk up to them

'Oh I see, can I drop you somewhere' she urged seeing an impatient Geet nudge Pinky

'Thank you' with that they all sat in car

'Are you girls busy tonight?' Dadi asked breaking the silence eyeing Geet, for some unknown reason she always liked her. Now it was another story that Geet managed to run away from her. Maybe it was her strict persona which kept Geet away or her commanding tone.

'No' came the instant answer from Pinky

'Ok great, I'm holding a party at my place and I want you girls to be there to represent Khuranna Academy'

'erm Mrs Khuranna ... actually we need to go home'

'oh come on Geet, we can easily clean the house together later in the night since those cows aren't home' Pinky whispered cutting Geet short not wanting to miss being a part of a lavish party, however the glare and the frustration was displayed by her friend

'Ofcourse beta you have to come' Dadi forced seeing a weary Geet

'But clothes' Geet only added that seeing no other excuse

'Annie, I want the best gowns in town' Dadi immediately called her designer silencing Geet who looked ahead praying while Pinky took in the new view

'Tonight you will find your belle, Maan' she thought eyeing Geet once again.

'Wow Mrs Khuranna, you live here... in this mansion. It's absolutely beautiful' Pinky boasted taking in the view of majestic Khurrana Residence

'Thanks beta' she thanked looking at Geet, who started biting her nails in nervousness. The three women then entered the outhouse that was bustling with females, each walking around with an entourage following them.

'Ouch watch it' a random leggy girl shouted at Geet, poor girl was too confused to walk straight, 'Maasi is gonna kill me' she thought praying for all this to be over as soon as possible

'Adi this is Pinky and that's Geet, take them to Annie please' Dadi introduced before walking out, a house full of young girls; all dressing to impress her grandson wasn't her idea of fun

'So Adi what's happening here?' Pinky asked tossing a canape in her mouth

'They all are eligible bachelorettes for Maan Singh Khurrana and Dadima wanted them to be on time hence she requested most of the invitees to get ready here' he explained hoping Dadi's plan would finally succeed, running back and forth after girls taught him a lesson to 'never organise another party full of women ever again'

Once Geet and Pinky were passed over to Annie, he walked towards another couple of girls who needed a room and several other errands which he and his army force needed to run

'Dadi I'm telling you, all this is useless' Maan moaned tugging at his tie, greeting girls all evening was affecting him. He, along with Dadi and Adi stood on the podium meeting each and every girl Nakul introduced.

'So what else do you except, when a guy of your age and influence can't get a girl then his dadi has to step in' Dadi hushed seeing another fleet of cars entering their driveway from her peripheral view, 'this was going to be one long night' she groaned

http://www.dresses1000.com/images/l/B4S42/quinceanera-dresses--qdzy587-1.jpg

'Why do I have to wear this?' Geet complained quietly looking down at her big navy blue ball grown studded with crystals and then threw a look at Pinky who wore a simple frock skipping two miles before her

'Because I think you'll steal the night tonight babe' Annie answered looking at Geet through her side view, making Geet all the more conscious

'Sorry I didn't mean it' she apologised immediately pushing her masquerade not wanting Annie to think she was ungrateful which Annie laughed off. Geet according to her was far too beautiful without acknowledgement making Geet divinely gorgeous. The fact that she was such a gentle angel also helped. Annie ran helter-skelter after money-throwing so-called damsel in distress who cried werewolf for a broken heel or smudged mascara, took an instant liking towards Geet, who may not speak a lot but was fully co-operative. But her words of wisdom did nothing to Geet's confidence, she was still scared of her maasi's anger and her sisters' taunts.

'WOW' Maan hummed feeling frozen by the sight in front of him, there at the door stood Geet in all glory. However upon closer inspection you'll find her chewing her lip in nervousness, being in front of crowd wasn't her thing, nor was wearing an over the top gown, that too off shoulder adding pressure. She was more of a simple dress or a maxi kind her girl. But that being said she felt slightly relived knowing that her identity was hidden under the beautifully decorated porcelain masquerade, leaving her luscious red lips on display.

'Go the belle of this ball has finally arrived' Dadi urged when all Maan did was stand there admiring the beauty who managed to bewitch the whole hall with her native beauty. He was wearing a masquerade himself, one hiding the top portion of his face. Mystery is a divine little thing, elements of fun and secrecy creates a screen of its own surrounding individuals in a cloak of anonymity.

'Hi' Maan approached pulling out his hands once again like the countless times he did that night, but this time on his own will and a genuine want

'Hello' she replied taking out her shaky hands for the man in front dressed in a 3 piece tuxedo and a little bow tie, a befitting image of lush.

'Looks like you're nervous' he chuckled looking deeply into her deep hazel eyes while tightening his grips over her tender hand

'I erm...I think erm ... I need to go home' she stammered turning on her heels but before she could take a step forward Maan firmly held onto her hand and ushered her to the dance floor in a hast.

'I have my daughter-in-law Adi' Dadi skipped only to notice Adi, who was busy in his own world staring at the girl dressed in a light pink gown

'Maybe I'll plan two weddings, right Adi' Dadi's comment broke a blushing Adi out his stupor

'he he he Dadi I... wee... I gotta go' he ran when words fell short leaving a laughing Dadi who finally sat down knowing her boys will be just fine tonight

'Sorry I should have asked before forcing you here' Maan acknowledged his mistake seeing a rigid Geet who stood motionless on the dance floor looking everywhere but him. She was like no other woman, she carried an aura of an angel emanating light. The care and happiness reflected in her eyes bowled him over.

'I'm sorry' he pouted hoping against hope it'll work on this angel like it always did on his Dadi

'It's ok' Geet smiled seeing the man in front of her looking incredibly cute. He was the flawless gentleman, the types fairy-tales are made of. He wasn't scary nor grumpy like men in real life, nor was he arrogant and mean like her step-sisters. Rather he seemed, nope he was the perfect blend of chivalry and charm. Even if he pulled her against her own will; he still had the cutesy to apologise for his mistake which no-one so far did in her lifetime. 'Prince Charming' her innocent mind conjured seeing him smile. He made her feel special and a sense of security wafted through her being. This might just be the best night of her life.

'So can I now get the name of this beautiful lady' he complimented once again taking out his hand for a formal introduction

'It's Geee' her voice fell quite in front of the loud singing band

'Beautiful' he whispered admiring her beauty, she was unsure which one he complimented; the name or her in general but it still had the desired effect. Redness seeped all over her, showing just how affected she was by Maan

'Care for a dance' he finally asked to which she agreed after a little hesitancy, after all this was all a new territory. One song finished after another, girls patiently waited for their turn to woo Maan but Mr Charming was only interested in his mystery woman. Ignoring the glares and request, he continued on his pursuit of finding true happiness, which funnily enough emitted from her vicinity. Her smile made him happy, her aura gave him peace and her feminine figure in his grasp made him feel powerful. He loved this feeling, the feel of radiance and warmth.

'Nakul seems like we can finally rest' Dadi smiled wiping the corners of her eye seeing her beloved grandson escort a young woman to the Garden. She then turned to her trusted aide and tapped his shoulders in an act of satisfaction before leaving the hall with a smile.

'I've never seen you around, are you local?' Maan questioned pulling out a chair, all the eyes in the hall were synced with his movements making both him and Geet conscious hence for better privacy he took Geet out in the open air

'Well how do you know?' she joked laughing harmoniously, once again pushing at her mask to which he just scratched his brow, undermined by her wit and beauty

No I'm from here actually' she smiled gently towards him before taking in the view of the full garden. The fragmentised flowers taking her attention for a while, there were lilies; daises, roses, daffodil, tulip and sunflower. Absolutely filled with every kind of flowers, the reds; blues; purples; everything. A colourful sanctuary from the black and white atmosphere.

'Tell me about yourself!' he immediately questioned wanting to hear that sweet melodious voice

What would you like to know?' she asked paying him her full attention. Her hazel burrows fixated at his deep brown velvety eyes.

Your family, where you work, anything everything' his excitement was uncontrollable, like a boy who found his beloved ball or more

'hmmm there's me, my mother and two older sisters'

'and your father?'

'he died 2 years ago in a car crash' she answered solemnly letting a tear or two to drop. But before he could say sorry she inquired about his life not wanting to dampen such a lovely evening. The sky turned pink with lovely peaks of blue yet they knew nothing of it; both were too engrossed in discussing politics, films, education and even future dreams. It was the sound of the local bell tower that disturbed their conversation.

'That's the church bell, weirdly it goes off 15 minutes prior to the set time' Maan laughed while Geet for the first time took note of the dark clouds, sinking in fear

'What time is it?' she asked in nervousness eyeing his watch

'Quarter to 12' even before he could finish he saw her running away

Hey what's wrong' he ran after seeing her run back to the hall

Adi' he shouted seeing her and another girl run speedily down the driveway. He tried shouting but other than gaining unwanted attention and a few females bumping into him, he got nothing. By the time, he reached the end of the yard it was too late, they had both zoomed into the oblivion in a minicab.

Please hurry' she requested for the 5th time edging to the front of her seat making the heavy gown bubble in fluffs

'Geet don't worry papa would wait for us before he closes the restaurant' Pinky tried to calm her down by placing a hand over Geet's but even she was unsure, she was too busy in the party with her mystery man named Adi to even take notice of the time.

Thankfully, it wasn't closed and Geet made it safely back home with all the prepared delicacies.

'Dadima I want to know who that girl was?' Maan questioned rushing in through the double doors, the previous night had been a nightmare to live. Every part of his body knew he fell in love, it was that can't sleep, can't eat, reach for the stars, jump over the fence, World Series kind of love.

He spent last night and this morning hunting down the woman in blue, the camera pointed to Annie; who directed him to Adi; who ultimately squared on Dadi.

'How shall I know?' she jumped putting down her cutlery on the breakfast table in disappointment, the only chance of a daughter-in-law was gone in a black cab in the dark night and no one had a clue who she was or where she went. Darn those cabs which she instructed to stand by the mansion.

'Dadima please don't joke, I need to find her. I think I'm in love' his voice losing its tone by the end while slouching into the chair, it was a rather miserable day with both rain and the pain. Running in a maze wasn't fun either, but the feeling that discharged from his heart submitted his mind and body to react to its wishes. Finding the girl was his only option, the only solution. She was his true match, his only match.

'Dadi you got her here and handed her and her friend to Adi, please say you remember' he tried closing his eyes, praying for a miracle

'I got her here, and there were two of them you say' Dadi perplexed face and confused voice withered his confidence further

'Ahh Geet and Pinky' she shouted hovering over his depressed state

'GEEET' he screeched a minute as if solving the hardest puzzle of his life and then continued to jump with Dadi shouting her name several time. He had found her, ok they have found her. Miracle do come true and the heart finally relaxed when Dadi dotted towards the phone to make an urgent call. A few seconds later, Maan found himself holding a scrap of paper with her address, she worked at Khuranna Academy. All these years, the right woman was under his nose and he was obvious to the fact. Although happiness seeped in, but it also brought in guilt for neglecting his family tradition. Even though, he made frequent contribution towards the family charity, he actually never bothered to make a personal visit which of course he regretted now. His firm belief of just work obviously was wrong, completely wrong. But Dadi would have no sulking when a marriage awaited hence without any notice she pushed him out the door and into his car, baffling him even more.

'Bring her home and take Adi with you' she ordered kissing his cheeks before he sped down the driveway with a 100watt smile.

'Here we are' he noted looking at the small cottage placed before him, a beautiful and crisp home. The scrubs and bushes neatly tucked within the brown allocated area while luscious green grass covered the vast expanse with a small stone pathway in the middle leading to the door, making a beautifully coloured postcard picture. Adi nudged him to move forward stopping his admiring session, somewhere he knew he'll find his mystery woman here.

So shall we assume this alliance is fixed' Rani probed seeing the lost look of her daughter, Sasha may think she's all that but the girl was desperate for that perfect guy. Right now she was unconditionally, irrevocably in love with her prospective husband who was fairly good-looking and had a decent job with an acceptable wage.

Yes absolutely' the father accepted seeing his son who seemed pleased with the outcome. Next the sweets came out in a congratulatory fashion, each member feeding one another and praising Sasha once again for her brilliant cooking.

Erm excuse me' Rani mentally cursed the person at the door for disturbing such a joyous occasion, she for sure hoped it wasn't Geet. This was such a good catch, if Geet came into the picture then things might just differ which she didn't want.

Who are you?' she barked looking at the man at the door, he wore black pants and a plain white shirt. Looking sizably rich however the glasses put her off. Maybe Tasha will like him' and with that thought she immediately changed her tone and inquired about his appearance.

Adi looked at the woman in apprehension, for a second wishing this wasn't the mother of Maan's mystery woman. If the mother was scary, than the daughter would be hell. Throwing a fearful look over his shoulder to Maan, he turned around again asking the woman for the address.

Yes this is it, why have I won the lottery' all of a sudden the prospect of being rich won Rani over, jumping in joy

Oh no no its that my friend, Maan here has fallen in love with your daughter' he answered pulling Maan forward who also seemed slightly afraid of the bizarre woman

Rani fell head over heels, immediately recognising a millionaire when seeing one however when the new man introduced himself as Maan Singh Khurrana and her guests stood up in respect, she knew just how important he was.

You say you love my daughter' she questioned hand over heart

Yes Mrs Handa, I do' Maan replied in all honestly

The previous groom forgotten, literally kicked out the door in a second with a sorry but your son isn't suitable anymore', there were of course debates from the father but none too concerning making the family walk out in a huff feeling the humiliation.

Maan sat down while the ladies ran upstairs for almost an hour, other ran the show at the beginning when people marched out the door and the mother asking him to sit while they come back, there was no other sound. Adi patiently sat beside him tapping at the table while he nervously looked around the house. It was rather big from the inside, the front door opening up to the lounge with a small corridor separating the dining room on the other side and he assumed the kitchen to be behind that. There were also lots and lots of pictures, but none of his mystery woman or maybe she was one of them. But something in his heart told him it couldn't be, well at least he hoped it wasn't.

Maan I don't feel too well' Adi leaned forward, whispering his displeasure

We're here' Rani beamed the next second scaring the boys to fall apart. Rani looked very different to her previous avatar, the plain-Jane look had gone to a flashing-Judy appearance.

So I presume you fell for this one' she forwarded the green girl, dressed in a green short dress; high heels and over the top make-up. Next to her was the pink girl, somewhat similarly dressed. Maan being a gentlemen shook hands but it stopped there. His mystery woman was apparently between these two sisters, Rani certified she had only two daughters and Dadi was sure she escorted Geet in, who belonged to this address. Feeling a little overwhelmed he sat back down, a disappointed emotion taking over. It couldn't be one of them; now could it?

So tell me, who do you love?'

Geet' Adi answered seeing a distressed Maan, suddenly there was a chill in the air and grasp of shocks forcing Maan to look up.

Well then this is Geet' Rani forwarded a perturbed Sasha forward with a menacing smile after a few minutes after realising from Maan's demeanour that he fell for a faceless girl making it easier for her to pose Sasha as Geet.

Geet you never told me, you know Maan' she faked a gentle slap to Sasha's back speaking in a high pitch, something similar to joking confusing Maan and Adi even more. Maan looked towards Sasha, her eyes twinkling in the afternoon glow. Maybe this was her, maybe this was his mystery woman yet that stupid heart wasn't convinced although somewhere his mind accepted the fallacy.

Maasi sorry I'm a bit late, the kids kept me up at work' Geet rushed in popping her coat to the rack while combing her hair into a scunci. When she heard no reply other than a few whispering's, she turned around to face her shocked family with two unknown men.

Erm sorry, I thought they must have gone' Geet quickly apologised running to the end of the room wanting to disappear into the dining room. This was a serious mistake, Maasi would kill her with words and then there were the physical abuse which Maasi conducted every now and then shifting the blame on Geet after every slap and abuse. She was so caught in her misery that she didn't realise, when one of the men ran forward and clasped onto her wrist.

Geet' he said knowing in his heart this was her, this was his mystery woman without a question of doubt. It was then she spun towards the recognising voice, that voice which left her sleepless last night. That exact voice, whom she fell in love with.

Sasha get to work' Rani pushed forward separating the two before forcing Sasha to his side

This is Geet and that is our maid, yes our maid who we look after; who we provide for' Rani spoke each word in clarity raising her voice at the word Maid' and then turning an angry look towards a shocked Geet, reminding her of her good fortune; of her need.

Yes Maan I'm Geet, go and do some work Sasha' Sasha commanded sugar coating her words before placing a hand over his. For a minute Maan was perplexed, confused even. Both his heart and mind at war, the mellow girl walking away with glistened eyes seemed more like his Geet than the girl standing beside him, shinning her pristine white veneered teeth.

It was when Geet stopped at the door of the dining room had Maan realised that she was his Geet, her eyes and those lips told him so. The watery smile she threw him changed everything in a millisecond, even though it was only half a smile or half her face. It was enough to make him understand.

GEET' he shouted running after her while Rani and Sasha ran after him.

I know it's you, you're the woman I fell for last night at the ball'

You did what?' puffed Rani and Sasha

You treacherous cow' Tasha spoke for the first time yet it wasn't something nice or kind

Please tell me you are my Geet' his voice was hard hitting even to her, gone was his smile and the shine instead there was specks of anger and hurt

Admit it Geet or I have other means' he threatened the minute she was thinking to come forward, but stopped at his threat. All her life she was threatened, mocked and saddened. Even Maan, who she fell in love with didn't recognise her at first glance and now he treats her no better than her relatives who just demoted her to being a maid, once again.

I'm not your Geet, I'm no one's Geet' saying so she briskly walked to the coat rack and ran out the door. Maan followed and so did Adi before warning the rest of the Handas of a law suit for fraudulency.

Geet stop' he shouted running after her towards the bridge

Geet' he said now standing beside her while she looked at the river before her, the massive blued water diffusing the anger she felt a while ago at the unfairness of life.

Why do you care, why do you want me to be Geet?' she questioned still looking away with tears in her eyes

I fell in love with Geet last night' he spoke calmly trying to convey his feelings

You fell in love with the show and the glamour, but not the girl inside' she corrected, now looking at him almost inside his soul

No I fell for you, I love you'

How come you didn't know it was me then, how come you felt the need to threaten. If it is love then why force?' she asked in a small voice, flabbergasted by all the feelings she felt. The hurt, the pain, the anger, the love; absolutely everything.

I know I was wrong, so very wrong but your family and their act. Everything just got more confusing' he stood know facing her while he watched her glance towards him as if trying to determine whether he's trustworthy or not.

I spent last night looking for you, wishing to meet you again. You just left without an explanation stealing my heart' he continued with a smile seeing her turn fully towards him with a look of guilt

You know a part of me thought of you as a dream, a beautiful unfathomable dream' he giggled remising last night's thoughts, at the confusion he felt.

I'm sorry' he stated at last pulling the puppy dog face once again bawling Geet over with his charm

But' she started only to notice Adi in the background with a seemingly beaming Pinky making her smile

Geet I love you, will you marry me' he bent down on one knee and asked the question of a lifetime succumbing her to shock at the speed, at the turn of events.

6 months later

Geet Handa no more existed, dressed in a white flourish gown, wearing an intricate diamond ring, she was celebrated as Mrs Geet MS Khurrana. The modern day Cinderella did have her ball, her courtship and the fairy tale wedding.

Rumour has it that Rani changed, turned into a better person. Sasha was engaged and coming to terms with Geet being a millionaire and Tasha, well not all things change at once. Everything needs space and time. Pinky and Adi however are looking forward to their own wedding with Merchanda uncle catering the guest, once again like he did at Geet's wedding. And Dadima is counting out the number of grandchildren she wants to Nakul.

Geet watched her family smile in pleasure, for once looking slightly happy for her and then she turned towards her new family. Dadima hugging her dearly and her husband, her Maan looking at her with all the love he held making her feel priceless. Maan observed his beloved wife shining in happiness and once again he fell a bit more in love with her. This wasn't an ending rather it was the beginning of a new story.

It was too early to say whether it was Maan and Geet's happily ever after but was happiness at the time and for the years after that. Seizing the moment, Maan stepped forward taking a shocked Geet to his lips with whistles and hooting in the background, but to the man and woman in love it were no more than pattering of rain in their blessed moment, their never-ending kiss.

Authors note:

Life itself is a fairy-tale'. Wish upon a star; make a dream come true or simply believe in yourself. You are what you are and don't let anyone judge or belittle you. I once heard a fairy tale is made of three components, a wish; a belief and a dream. So go on, dream a little dream; no one's ever too old to dream and find your own happily ever after. And no it doesn't need to be in a man, it can be the simple smile on your parents face or that career you always wanted. Everyone's definition of happiness is different so why shall the ever afters' be any different.

There shan't be Once Upon a Time but it should be Once upon every day'.

i mean this os was supposed to be a minimum of a short story yaar

all in all this was kind of reminder for me k tumhari kitni stories padni hai mujhe!!

I had often wondered if I was the first guy that enjoys all Cinderella stories it always have this innocence kind of love maybe that's why I liked watching them

So Daadima has invited all the ladies to the Ball so her grandson can chose a fine lady for himself and wow the moment the Belle of Ball walks in he is mesmerized he falls in love with every little aspect of hers
yes the step mom and step sisters trying to play their last wicked game but the last game is only for Cinderella
Maan and Geet gets married and their life begins with love and happiness finally Geet has a loving family
