It was the weekend and he strangely found himself in front of Miss Manchanda's residence... He didn't know what he was going to talk to her that to after their last encounter a week back... but he knew she was the only person he would get some answers from...
Even before he could ring the bell a tall and healthy man in his late fifties opened the door glaring at him... Assuming him to be Priyanka's father he got nervous introducing himself ... when the old man narrowed his eyes at him he gulped his saliva and spoke meekly
"Sir, I'm Aditya Kasyap... I work with your Daughter in the same organization??" he ended doubtfully... Slowly an understanding and a grin broke on the Oldman's face he dragged him in literally and pushed him down on the couch
"Pinky! ... Pinky beta look there is someone from your office at the door..." he shouted loud enough for the whole apartment to hear... the creepy grin never leaving his face...
In the mean while he took a chance to look around their house which was small but cosy and homely... with the garlanded photo on the wall who held a remarkable resemblance with Priyanaka he concluded she might be her mother... Before he could say something he heard the footsteps coming towards the room
And when he turned he saw a complete different Priyanaka She was dressed in a gray track pants and pink tee... a pencil holding her hair on the back of her neck and glasses which were sliding too often from her nose... She looked every bit to be addressed as pinky as in cute maybe... He suppressed his smile and greeted her with an awkward "Hi"
She gestured him to take a seat and even her father took his seat very enthusiastically... he didn't understand what was so entertaining to the old man so much... maybe Pinky understood he was getting uncomfortable with his father so she asked him to offer the guest with some tea and snacks while she took him to her room...
Paper and books were spread all over the bed... Which she quickly got clearing while he looked around the room it was a simple room a closet and a dressing table at one end and music system and tons of music albums and a computer table to the other wall...
Clearing his throat, he thought it would be better if he finished his conversation and left... he somehow felt uneasy stepping into a girl's room... pulling a chair from the computer table he made himself comfortable while she sat on the bed...
"Hope I'm not disturbing you... I guess you were studying..."
"it's ok sir...I was finishing my college assignments... I would do it later, no problem"
"Miss Priyanka I actually wanted to apologise for my rude behaviour last time... But I really need to know what exactly happened with sir!" She turned all serious suddenly and looked away from him trying to remember something...
"Sir I don't know when and what happened exactly but few weeks back when I was in Maan's cabin and he was explain g me the topics from my subject he got a phone call... and he left abruptly... he didn't even drop me home you know... like I didn't even exist ... like he wasn't even himself anymore... then I saw him after three days he was all blank and serious... sometimes he even reeked alcohol in the mornings... a week back just before the day I came to you he was on a verge of firing Shasha mam... mam somehow got hold of the situation and excused herself... that was the first time I saw shasha mam so low otherwise she was a strong women right!" she finished with a sigh.
A long silence followed by the light music which flowed through her music system... her dad brought them tea and some snacks which brightened her whole face... seeing us serious her dad quickly left them alone...
"so you have other hobbies too..." he said pointing to the music system she turned all pink and concentrated in eating her samosa... this reminded me of our first meeting... I wanted to question her about it but decided against it... may be later
"Can I have the Cd of the album which is playing on your music system?" he asked unsure of her reply... her face brightened and she quickly nodded her head...
Taking the cd from her he got up to leave when he heard he speak...
"umm Adi Sir... Maan would be ok right..." She asked with a lot of hope and worry laced in her voice...
This was the first time he had encountered someone who was genuinely worried about sir... on the personal level... he cleared his throat before answering
"He is doing good as of now Priyanka... and would be back to himself sooner than you expect..." tacking a deep breath he continued... "He is a strong man... and wouldn't like anyone seeing his weaker side... I suggest we leave him to himself for a while... and hope ..."
He couldn't complete what he was going to say... and just walked out of her room not before noticing a dustbin by the side of her door which was filled with wrappers of the junk she might have consumed...
Shaking his head, he walked out of her house informing her dad that he was leaving... he had lots of things yet to know but for now this information was enough for him...
For the past week he made sure sir was over burdened with work that he would have any free tine foe himself in the mean while he lined up few important projects which would help the organization grow and were definitely Sir's ground to play... Sir was the mastermind in business and that was the only thing which would distract him from whatever he is going through right now...
In the next few days he found Priyanka quite gloomy... then he remembered what his sir said he had to inform Sir anything and everything regarding this girl... poor girl has been shuffling through branches constantly on the name of training...
He walked to her desk and cleared her throat loud enough for her to bring her out of her thoughts...
"I'm sorry sir, I didn't notice you coming"
"it's ok Miss Priyanka... you seem to be distracted is there something I could do to help u?" Trying to sound as informal as possible...
"Adi sir actually it isn't related to work so..." she dragged off clearly asking me not to bother her... so I just shrugged and left...
By the end of the day I found Miss Priyanka in my cabin trying to ask me a favor or something was quite embarrassed...
"it's ok Priyanka please feel comfortable..." Asking her to sit ...
"Adi Sir, by the end of this month I'm having my exams... and Maan... Sir..." He handed a glass of water...
"So do you want a leave Priyanka?" He asked doubtfully...
"Actually no sir, Sir was helping me with few of my subjects and now that he is busy..."
"It's ok I could help u with them you know" her whole face lit up at this... After thanking him a dozen times she left his cabin with a happy smile...
He didn't understand why was he grinning stupidly... maybe her happiness was contagious... from that day on he decided he should stay in control around her...
She wasn't a brilliant student but was smart enough to quickly grasp when explained any topic in little details sometimes with examples maybe... He often lost his cool around her when her concentration would wander and he felt he was wasting his time in vain... Sometimes it was at the tip of this tongue to break her bubble regarding her scholarship which she would boost so much about but he controlled himself for the sake of Sir...
He would meet her at the coffee shop near her house at the weekends or they would sit in the office canteen... things did start to change for example when there was a complimentary gift of chocolate box from one of our suppliers his mind only said PINKY!
And when he reached the office that day and entered his cabin he felt a slight pain in his heart... pinky was jumping in excitement in Sir's arms sharing her exam results and there was a smile on Sir's face before he planted a kiss on her forehead!!
