Punar Vivah (Rashmi)
A beautifully emotional story brilliantly crafted by Rashmi. Hats off to Rashmi for taking up such a sensitive social concept of Punar Vivah & Reincarnation and handling it with such depth, sensitivity and maturity. A brilliant masterpiece and an emotionally gripping story in which I lost myself. I just could not stop once I started.
The backdrop for the journey of Yash, Maan, Geet, Arpita, the Khuranas and The Handas was set very brilliantly by Rashmi. I loved each and every one of the characters present in the story as they were there for a crucial reason & played very pivotal roles. Right down to Suresh & Meena. All of them were so intricately characterized with such care, maturity and depth. None of them were even remotely irrelevant or flimsy in any sense. Even Adi, Pinky & Rohit. I hated Tayiji & Suman so much for the cruelty, evils & venomous deeds but even they got their well deserved fate & punishment at the right time. So the story was very focused and emotionally gripping for me.
The characterization of the Khuranas and the Handas were so beautifully done. I loved their relationship, bonding, care and respect which never wavered but only strengthened over the years. They stood by one another through their loss and tough times supporting & respecting one another. They always had such understanding, respect & unconditional love for each other & their children. They stood by their children through everything, supporting them, being their pillar of strength & support. Similarly Yash, Maan, Geet & Arpita were so carefully characterized so that it paves the way correctly for Maaneet's journey after their loss, their Punar Vivah and the reincarnation which happens thereafter. I especially loved the way Maan & Geet were characterised in this story.
Yash & Maan were twins and their parents had chosen Geet & Arpita as brides for them respectively. Their decision was carefully thought out after analyzing the character and nature if Yash, Maan, Geet & Arpita. But God being the master story writer is the one who decides whose destiny lies with whom. And that is precisely the reason for the loss of Yash & Arpita in an accident. This loss of Yash & Arpita was the biggest turning point in the lives Maan, Geet, Khuranas & Handas. Especially for Maaneet. The journey of Maaneet towards their Punar Vivah begins with their loss...
I loved the way Maan always stood up for the right things and never bowing down to the inhumane things done in the name of rites, social norms and ways of the society. So I was applauding him all the way when he saved Geet and his family from Tayiji's vicious deeds. That was absolutely brilliant. I absolutely loved the way he stood up for Geet and his family at the nick of time without succumbing into his own grief...Took such tender loving care of Geet, being her pillar of strength & support and fulfilling Yash's wish for her to be a top notch designer. In that time Maan discovers his love for Geet but was always suppressing it for fear of her reaction, her rejection and what she would think of him. He did not want Geet to lose her trust & faith in him nor risk losing their friendship. He had always wanted a friend & a soulmate in his wife. And he was only able to find that in Geet. So I was literally clapping my hands when Maan & Suresh exposed Tayiji & Suman and Maan married Geet in front of the whole world. And there begins Maaneet's journey of love.
Although Geet was "forced" to marry Maan, he never put any pressure on her or had undue expectations from their relationship. He respected her space & the need of time for her to get adjusted to the idea of their marriage. He always assured her that the basis of their relationship was always their friendship, faith & trust in one another. Their honest & open communication about every single thing is so admirable. Be it related to Yash or Arpita and what place they have in Maaneet's lives. I loved each & every one of their conversation...that trust they have on one another...the faith, understanding each other even without words...holding on to each other throughout their journey...Maan is truly a gem of a person because he valued each & every feeling of Geet. He always put Geet first and then comes everything else. It was then that Geet started discovering her feelings towards Maan. Maan had always been open with Geet. Be it about his relationship with Arpita or is related to Geet's relationship with Yash. Maan never hid it from Geet as he respected her so much. He never hid a single thing from her. Even when their rehashes of past hurt Geet he was always there holding her, comforting her and being there with her all the way...His reason is simple...she deserves to know. I just loved it. For Geet this was a journey of self discovery...of her own feelings and love. Her love for her Maan.
How much both of them understood each other...even without a single word...such understanding, trust, faith, always being there for each other as a pillar of support & strength...not just for themselves but to everyone else who are connected with them. Be it even Suresh & Meena...or Adi...I loved their journey together hand in hand...Be it as a couple in coutship...Just loved the way they wanted to get married again as it was Geet's wish to marry wholeheartedly after their confession of love for each other...And for Maan nothing can be more important than his Geet's wish. The extent to which he went to do their engagement, haldi, sangeet and finally the marriage secretly without anyone's knowledge...That was really so so so dreamy...Or be it their loving marital relationship...Such constant teasing and romance:) I would say that they are truly made by God only for each other as soulmates. Their journey into parenthood was really so cute & adorable. With Geet's cravings and mood swings. And Maan always caving in to her demands:):):) Blessed with twins, Maaneet and their families are so overwhelmed with joy.
That is when the story brings on the twist of reincarnation and yet another Punar Vivah. This time for Yash who is reborn as Maaneet's son and Arpita born as Kirti elsewhere. How hard Maaneet tries to get Yash to forget even the slightest memory of his past...And they do succeed...Until Yash meets Kirti and falls in love with her while studying. So when he finally brings her home...Maaneet and their families are in for a shock...Their past is rehashed once again. I really admire the way Maan handled the whole thing...How he found out about Kirti being the reincarnation of Arpita...the way he sought Yash & Kirti's promise of their love for each other if faced with a storm...and how he broke the truth to all. That was a brilliant master stroke in the story. So it was a Punar Vivah not just for Maan & Geet but also Yash & Kirti (a.k.a. Yash & Arpita).
One thing I loved was the relationship that Suresh & Meena shared with Maaneet, Khuranas and the Handas. How they were always thought of, treated as & respected as family despite being employees. How Maaneet had supported them especially Sameer's studies...And when Sargam falls for Sameer...although Sameer loved Sargam he rejected her as he was thinking of their position in the society and he did not want to betray Maaneet. But I loved the way Maaneet & their families considered Sameer as their own son and arranged for Sameer & Sargam's alliance. That was just awesome yaar!
This is truly a masterpiece of a story & I love it so much. Thank you Rashmi for such a beautiful love story.
