Prologue
They sat on the deserted beach, the man in a shirt rolled at the sleeves, his hair ruffled with the breeze.
She made a pretty picture despite having traveled for so long; her sari curling around her, the tail end flying in the breeze in an uncaring fashion.
Waves kept sweeping back and forth as they sat in silence waiting for dawn to break.
Dawn - a precursor to the future ahead.
The rising sun is worshipped by millions with devotion.
A new dawn brings with it new hope, new expectations and a new faith.
There was nothing like that in her eyes as she stared at the waves coming back and forth, lapping the shore with cream like foam.
Her hands gently rubbed the foam and it dissipated into small bubbles that burst on contact.
Bubble bursting; she knew the feeling.
He was bursting to say something to her.
Just as he turned his gaze towards her, she spoke.
"Aaj tak saare faisle aapne liye hai. Mujhe kuch kehna hai".
He tried to bank down his eager words until she finished.
This was the most she had spoken to him but from her tone he was not sure if he wanted to hear anymore from her.
"About this visit to my home; Wo ..", she looked away from his gaze, " .. I won't be coming back with you".
Disappointment etched his features.
"Maine jo kiya .." he started to say but she stopped him getting up quickly.
"Mujhe uss raat ke baaremein baat nahi karni .. " she said as she walked away from him putting a few feet between them, " .. Never. We are done".
--- a few years later in time ---
"Doctor blast ka ek last patient aaya hai. Bohut bura haal hai. No id, no name", the head nurse came rushing in.
She gathered her things and rushed after the nurse. The patient was being bandaged and she put on her gloves and faced him as they finished the bandages.
"Bechara. Kitna young hai. Ek aur unknown among all the victims today", the nurse said.
"Unknown nahi hai", she whispered, white with shock.
"Kya" the nurse turned to ask.
"Ye Dr. Maan Singh Khurana hai", she proclaimed staring at the man she had left years ago.
