TEASER

It had been a couple of days with the blinds firmly closed shut between their offices.

An invisible but impenetrable wall was created. If he had restless nights, he just ignored it.

After all controlling one's dreams was not possible even for the great Maan Singh Khurana.

Late in the evening when most of the staff was gone, two offices were lit up.

Geet and Daadima were busy on finalizing some documents on a project where as Maan was busy with his own work.

A man's ego can grow high as Everest but Babaji (and me) had other plans.

The peace of his office was shattered with the sudden running of footsteps.

Geet burst into his office alarmed and white faced.

"Maan!" she screamed making him leap up to his feet.

"Daadima, wo .. ", she pointed behind her.

He ran out of there to find Daadima sweating badly, clutching her head.

He tossed Geet his phone and said, "call Dr. Siddharth. Jaldi bulao yaha" while he ran up to Daadima.

"Daadima, kya ho raha hai Daadima?" he asked with concern and panic.

It is a scary moment in time when someone you love is in pain. Before he could say anything, Daadima passed out in his hands.

"Geet .. " he screamed in frustration, " ek call karne mein kitna time logi?"

Frantically he massaged Daadima's hands and feet.

She walked around him to Daadima's desk and pulled out the BP cuff from her drawer.

"Doctor aa rahe hai. BP check karne ko kaha hai .. ", she said softly.

On the outside she appeared calm.

On the inside she was completely terrorized.

Someone she had come to love was in so much pain.

Rano's last moments were swimming in front of her eyes. The frantic efforts she had tried, not knowing what to do, running back and forth to the window, waiting and waiting for Brij to come back with the medicine.

No matter how brave and strong she appeared, she was still a very young girl who was barely making a living.

Babaji, iss baar der mat karna, she prayed mentally.

Maan started the BP check and she peered anxiously over his shoulder.

"Sab theek hai na?" she asked with a teary voice making him startle.

It was a sight he had not seen before.

Her large eyes were full of fear, her face white and afraid.

He was taken aback at the protectiveness that leaped within him on seeing Geet Handa weak and emotional. An urge to ease all her worries appeared in him.

He cleared his throat.

"Darro mat!" he reassured her, " .. main Daadima ko kuch nahi hone duga. Unka BP high hai which is perhaps why she has passed out".
