The contrast here is well portayed. While others make her smirk on their theories . He says one word and it manages to bring about an emotion which she thinks she isnt capable of anymore..."the unfamiliar prickling of her eyes".
And he misses her.
He is already dead that is his heart is no more and she is the reason.
But the intresting fact is it is not enough to just miss her. Does she mean that missing her doesnt add up to the pain that she went through.
