Chapter Three
She pulled the tissue and violently murdered it, shredding into pieces. She heard a giggle to her right and found the bright eyed cherub looking at her with curiosity.
"Want tissue?" Geet asked smiling at the sweet child.
The cutie pie nodded her head, her twin ponies bouncing and giggled some more while Geet pulled a sheet of tissue and passed it.
"You look mad" the little girl said in a low voice, while Geet sighed and rested against the counter, facing the child and scrunched her nose.
"Am I?"
The little girl nodded once more.
"Gah! I am" Geet said throwing her hands up.
She felt a soft touch on her knee and saw the little girl looking at her with big brown Bambi eyes.
"What happened Miss Geet?" the child blinked her eyes, and Geet couldn't help but to take the child in her arms, and made her sit beside her on the slab, against the large mirror, which would otherwise be used for selfies by other women.
Geet thought how to answer the question to the concerned child in a way she could understand.
"Whom do you hate the most in your class?" Geet asked after sometime.
"Bunty" the little girl replied without a blink of her eye.
"Why?"
"Because he picks his nose"
Geet scrunched her nose. Why are men weird like that?
"Okay, if anyone asks you to sit with Bunty all throughout the year, how will you feel?"
"I already have to sit with him" the child replied, and Geet's heart went out for her.
"Oh baby!" Geet said putting her arms around the child and stroking her hair. "I know exactly how you feel"
"Does your boyfriend picks his nose too?"
"What! No!" Geet said astonished. Maybe, she underestimated this generation. It would have been a lot easier had she been honest instead of playing five year old.
"Karan isn't my boyfriend" Geet said wincing even at the idea.
The little girl placed her face in her palms, and waited for her to carry on. "It's just that I have to return a favour. You know? He helped me with my assignment - homework", Geet added at the bemusement in the child's eyes "And I have to be nice with him" Geet sighed looking at the little girl, the usual guilt coming back to her "I can't be mean to him, no?"
The little girl nodded in understanding, and Geet loved her so much more for that.
"Homework sucks" the little girl declared, after a beat of silence.
"Oh it does" Geet agreed.
They both sat in silence for a while, and Geet sighed looking at the thoughtful face of the little girl, and felt terrible for ruining the child's holiday.
"Did I tell you" Geet said trying to change the topic "I absolutely love your hair?"
The little girl gave her a shy dimpled smile, but frowned next minute. "Bunty always pulls my hair"
"Why would he do that?"
"He wanted to test if it is strong"
"That rat" Geet exclaimed "Next time he does that, pull his cheeks until there are permanent red marks on his cheeks and tell him that you want to test if they are strong enough"
The little girl giggled, and soon enough, Geet joined her giggling.
"Come now" Geet said taking her in her arms, and putting her back on her feet "We don't want your Mamu worrying sick about us"
With that said, both girls walked hand in hand towards the said Mamu, who was waiting out.

"What were you doing inside?"
It was the irritating half ticket that asked the question, while Geet raised an eyebrow at him. "The same thing you were doing there" she pointed her finger towards Men's washroom.
"You mean us?" she heard the man before her speak, and her eyes fled to meet his.
There was amusement in his eyes, and all she wanted to do was wipe it off from his face, but of course before that she has to do something to stop the flush from spreading all over her cheeks.
"Miss Geet" she heard the little girl say, as she tugged on her hand "Mamu is taking us to Captain America"
"Really?" Geet asked her face breaking into a large grin.
"Really" the little girl said.
"You can come with us" the half ticket said with a smirk on his face, looking at her from under his baseball cap.
"Thank you half ticket" Geet said pulling his baseball cap down, playfully.
"My name is Rahul" he protested at his new nickname.
"My name is Anjali" the little girl added, as a habit. Since they were twins, they are used to introduce themselves at around the same time.
"Eh?" Geet said clearly taken aback. "That's blasphemy" she mumbled looking at both of them and Maan.
"You" she said pointing an accusing finger at Maan. "How can you let them be named after Kuch Kuch Hota hain couple?"
At his bemused expression, she added "You can't name a brother and sister after the couple's name." She heaved a dramatic sigh and scrunched her nose at the half ticket "Worse news is, now I can no more lust upon the name Rahul"
He cleared his throat.
"Oops sorry for using the lust word before the kids"
"Now you are making it obvious" Maan muttered smoothly.
She met his stare, and neither looked back for one whole minute.
The giggle emanated from Anjali disturbed their staring session.
"Mamu, ask Miss. Geet to come to movie with us na"
"The movie has an hour to start" half ticket added at her with another grin.
"Thanks for the invitation kids" Geet said stressing the word kids, looking at Rahul, making his face fall.
"Some other time" she said and went on her knees to press a sloppy kiss on Anjali's cheek.
"Nice meeting you sweetheart" she said, and eyed the expectant half ticket with a grin.
"Nice meeting you too half ticket" she said pulling his baseball cap over his eyes.
"And"" she turned facing the man who looked at her with the corner of his lips twitched into a crooked smile.
"Bye Anjali's Mamu" she said, ignoring the little jump in her heart beat at his smile and walked away, leaving a part of her heart with the three people behind her, and went to find her supposed date, Karan.
