Part - 14

I glanced back guiltily at the sleeping form of the most important person in my life. But I can't get weak. He is already suffering with the part of truth he knows. I can't let him burn with more pain. Going away again from him had always seemed harder than giving away these breaths. Tears brimming in my eyes n feet felt heavier with each step.

I tried looking for the main door in this dark unfamiliar house. I went towards one of the door on my right but it opened to a bigger room. I came out looking for the main exit. My heart thudding with fear of facing someone especially in a condition when I cannot even answer any of their questions.

I found another door n this time I was sure that it's the main door. As I turned the door knob, I glanced back towards the room where I have left my soul again. The tears I had been holding made their way out when I opened the door to enter in the darkness again. Darkness that has become my fate now.

The moment I took the first step out, the world came to a stand still. My feet froze at my place, my body shivered n my eyes locked with a painfully calm pair of chocolate brown eyes. I was too shocked to react n the calmness in him feared me even more.

Maan stood there with his hands folded in front of his chest. Words failed me as he stood there staring at me intentently so my eyes lowered on their own accord. I felt as if I was caught commiting a sin but still there was no place to hide.

The silence between us stretched long making me feel guiltier with each passing moment. And when I thought I could take no longer, as if on cue, he held my wrist dragging me out. His sudden move made me look at him but he kept dragging me with him without glancing back.

I was nervous of his reaction when he suddenly stopped near one of the cars standing in the driveway n opened the passenger door for me. I sat as he wanted me to, coz my mind had frozen at the site of him standing so cooly when I tried to leave again !!!

Although it had only been few minutes of drive but his silence was making me anxious. I lifted my eyes to look at Maan when I noticed the orange hue outside. Mornings r always beautiful in this part of the country with the holy Ganges gracing the city with its beauty n serenity. But the restlessness inside was increasing as he still didn't speak even a word. I could have taken his anger but his calmness was getting difficult to bear.

So finally I decided to break this quietness between us, even though it would finally be me who'll have to answer all those Whats n Whys...

My reviere broken as the car stopped n I looked up at him who finally decided to give me a look making me shiver with the intensity in his eyes. I looked around at the surroundings n then at him, finding us outside a temple.

I got out the car before him as I saw Adi Sir coming out of that temple with a packet in his hand. I was still trying to understand these happenings when I heard Maan asking him...

All done...

Yesss Sssir...

Good... Did u inform... I couldn't hear any further as the reality dawned

Nooo...I whispered n shook my head taking a couple of steps back

This was unbelievable for me although I knew that Maan can go to any extent to keep me close to him. But this was insane. No I can't let him do anything of this sort.

I was lost in my thoughts when I felt a tug on my hand. As Maan held my hand this time n dragged me to enter inside the temple, it was then I finally tried stopping him n broke my silence

Maan...

He stopped immediately hearing me but composed himself the next moment n started walking again. But I made him stop again by wriggling my hand from his hold n then started walking towards the opposite direction.

Maan tried stopping me but I resisted n the next moment he pulled me with so much of force that I walked all along with him as if I was a dry leaf n he is the wind who can blew me with him whenever, wherever he wishes.

Maan... Please... ye nahi ho sakta...

He kept walking ignoring my words until we reached inside the main area of the temple where a small havan kund was kept with a few other things. That is when I pulled him with all my might.

Please Maan... aisa nahi ho sakta... aap samajhte kyu nahi ???

...

Maan... Please ek baar meri baat sunn lijiye... mein aapke samne haath jodti hu... ... aisa nahi ho sakta

And finally he looked into my eyes n said

Fine Geet... one chance ??? U have it...

Saying so he took me towards the backside of the temple. It was so peaceful out here. The fresh soothing air, the lush green surroundings n the quietly flowing Ganga. It was as if they were all giving me courage to move ahead n open the long lost closed book of my life.
