MILAN- The Final Destination
PART- 130
Geet n Jia looked at each other. Geet grinned, Jia had no idea why her mother was grinning but who cared for that, she grinned back. Deal then. You will have to do whatever we would say. Right Jia?
Yesh, fight.
Maan eyed them. These two were devils n together they were inescapable. You love us na? Geet made a puppy face n Jia was sucking her upper lip.
Oh god!!! Sure I will do anything Jaan. And for you too princess, whatever you guys say. He sighed while Geet n Jia gave each hi-five.
Papa, baby aur mumma ko chodke chale gaye. Geet pouted sadly. Ever since Maan had left for Gurgaon immediately after coming back from Sydney she had been so alone. It had been more than 2 days n she felt sick. But she knew it wasn't good for the baby. Par hum papa ko miss nai karenge, haina? Isse better kuch kaam hi kar le. With the decision made she set off for the work.
Geet kaha hai? Maan asked Nakul the first thing as he entered the hall. His eyes were practically stinging, so much he craved to see her.
Wo... wo kamre me hai jaha unhe nai hona chahiye. Nakul told hell scared that Maan will blast again. But surprising him Maan smiled n kept his hand on his shoulder. Sab theek hai ab. He started to go to his Geet leaving a baffled Nakul to comprehend what Maan had said.
Outside her room door Maan found her sitting on bed and talking to herself. An old habit she had dropped for new ghastly ones. But now, seeing her healthy and glowing-better than before-Maan felt his life coming back to him. All around Geet were snaps which she had got framed and was now probably going to arrange in the room. She picked a frame. Yeh Naana Nani hai, baby. Abhi bhagwan ji ke paas hai but agar wo yaha hote na toh bahut khush hote tumhare bare me jaanke. Unhe toh yakeen bhi nai hota unki Geet mummy banne wali hai. She chuckled keeping the frame down n picking another one which had her n Meera's photo from college days. Yeh Meera Maasi hai. She hardly talks you know. Yeh bhi yaha nai hai abhi. Tumhari Mummy se naraz hai. Her voice became heavy. But she loves me. Meri Meera. Geet kissed her photograph and Maan had the vague memory of how he had seen her for the very first time. When she had come to Ujwal Academy following Meera. He had found her kissing her BFF's photograph only.
Geet, wo naraz nai hai. Geet turned towards him, raised her head wiping the tears from her eyes. Aap aa gaye. She got off the bed damn delighted that he had come back but then frowned seeing the bandage on his forehead. Yeh kaise ho gaya? She gasped coming towards him and tried to touch his forehead but he held her hand that's when she saw the awfully scraped knuckles. Aapko itni chot kaise lagi Maan? Aapne... aapne mujhe bataya kyu nai-
Calm down Jaan.
Calm down? Tears dropped down from her eyes. You are asking me to calm down?
Maan cupped her cheek. I took your revenge.
It felt like a train had hit her. She stared at him with horrified eyes. Aap Gurgaon nai gaye the? Maan shook his head. God! How could she even think that after knowing the truth Maan won't go after them. Unhone aapko maara? Aapne- aapne mujhse jhuth bola...
Wo mujhe chu bhi nai sakte the Geet. Maine Ranjeet ko maara. He told proudly. He would remember all his life what he had done and he would curse the moment, he touched you, with his each breath.
Maan didn't tell her the whole story. He knew people from every field n had used his sources to get Ranjeet abducted to a lonesome place where he could make him suffer. He was never one for violence but after seeing his face n just as he spoke of Geet from his dirty tongue, his blood had boiled. Maan had beaten him half to death and was going to finish the task entirely but the goons saved that son of a bitch. Then he was given to the police with his statement confirming his deeds. Meera was also there n she knew the commissioner from her years of running behind the culprits. She had evidences against Geet's family but the Ranjeet link was missing since he wasn't from their family. Now with his attestation-though threatened-was enough to close all loose holes.
Agar mai tumhe batata jaan toh tum mujhe jaane nai deti.
She wrapped her arms around his shoulders n rested her head on his chest closing her eyes. Aapko aisa nai karna chahiye tha Maan. You don't know them. Wo yaha aa jayenge aur aapko- Shh Jaan they won't come. All the culprits are behind bars n they are not coming out for a very long time. I will see that they have good time in jail.
Geet was scared. Scared for him and her own self. But more than that she felt relieved, at tranquility, not because her culprits had met their retribution but because her parent's murderers were finally at a place where they belonged. And she wanted them to suffer, die.
Aapne sab itni jaldi kaise kia?
Maine nai Meera ne. She was already on this and had some solid evidences against your family just the right time was needed. The servant that helped you in running, he agreed to give testimony for you. And there are other proofs too. Meera did all that. She loves you a lot.
Aapne Meera se baat ki? Even after... she slapped you?
That slap was nothing in comparison to what she did for you and also for me.
I love you Maan.
He tightened his hold on her, feeling peace n calm n fullness. I love you too. There won't be any nightmares anymore.
Few days later as everyone sat on the breakfast table the family seemed complete. There was happiness in KM with the anticipation of the new addition to the family. Not just Maan but Rohan n Dadimaa too were extremely protective of Geet. Of course they had noticed the radiance Geet threw after coming back from their vacation n nothing made them happier, particularly Dadimaa.
Dadimaa had seen Maan's indifference towards Shreya when she was to give birth to his child. He used to stay outside the city for weeks n whenever he was home, Dadimaa never saw him with his wife. It was as if he had sworn to not see her face. He didn't even entered her hospital room when she was admitted, neither before nor after her delivery though later when Dadimaa saw him with Jia, playing with her, pampering her, kissing n hugging her like she was some after-long found treasure Dadimaa felt relieved. She had been worried that Maan wouldn't accept Jia like he didn't accept Shreya even if she was his own daughter.
Now when Dadimaa saw Maan going nearly frantic over Geet's health n every small thing she wondered if he was the same guy who had been hard as rock, emotionless, cold towards his previous wife. She just wasn't the right person for him. Geet was. Although, Dadimaa felt bad for Shreya-very bad-she knew Maan wasn't at fault. He had suffered too, a lot. Had died every second, sometimes beat himself to sleep.
Funny how a person could change everything. Like Geet did. She brought Maan back to life, made him laugh n less distant.
Dadimaa prayed to god for everything to remain like this only. In life she had seen enough heart breaks, deaths and sorrows of her children. She didn't wish to see more.
Maggie khani hai. Jia said making a puppy face. Par princess- This is not good. She pushed the bowl of cereals. I want Maggie. Maan sighed with Jia in his lap. Okay Nak- Maan. Geet interrupted. Jia will eat this only. Jia made a yucky face. But she is not eating na.
Maan did this every time. Jia needed to say everything just once n he would do it n whatever he denied she had to ask once more n he agreed even if wasn't good for her. Her eating habits were becoming disastrous. Half the day Jia ate all junk food n other half Maggie. Maan supplied it to her.
Wo kha legi. Geet did some talk, here n there, using twisted logics n Maan in wonderment gaped at Jia as she ate her cereals. Geet gave a winning smirk n Maan felt like kissing her there n then.
Few days ago when Jia's stuffed puppy, fuffy, lost his one eye-Maan was amazed how it didn't lose one or all its limbs by then due the way Jia dragged it everywhere-he had been lost. Jia was crying on top of her lungs n Maan didn't know what to do. She particularly was attached to her fluffy as it was with her since birth. No other toy would suffice n her cries just wreaked havoc inside him. The only way Maan could think of for stopping her tears was to search all the shops in entire city for a toy that looked exactly like Jia's fluffy so it could be replaced with Jia's precious toy without her knowledge.
But then like Maan's knight in shining armor Geet came. She took a needle n thread and sewed the broken eye on back. Of course that was way easier n beyond Maan because he didn't know how to sew. Maan had always thought that he his was enough for his daughter. But a mother couldn't be substituted in one's life. He didn't know that because he himself didn't get mother's love. With Geet everything was perfect, the whole gaping hole in their lives was filled n Jia wasn't going to have the same fate as him. She will get a father's as well as mother's love.
And this Sunday we go stopping. Maan choked on his coffee. Haan. Geet said. No. Actually I have important work on Sunday. Jia sucked her upper lip making going all sad. Arre haan yaad aaya. Geet clapped her hands. Kya hua? Dadimaa asked. Dadimaa you don't know when we were coming back from Sydney Maan had promised he will do anything we asked. So we are going shopping.
Yesh. I rememeber. Jia exclaimed. Daddy said Sure I will do anything Jaan. And for you too princess, whatever you guys say.'
Maan slapped his forehead with his palm while Dadimaa n Rohan chuckled.
Shame on you Maan you can't take your wife n daughter to shopping. Very bad!! Rohan teased.
You keep your tongue inside your mouth. I will ask you when you are married, okay?
To put a halt to the playful teasing n taunting, a servant came to inform them of a visitor. Trouble was apparent on his face which was justified because behind him walked Jia's grandfather or Sherya's dad.
A sudden wave of quiet anxiety took place of the happiness flowing. Jia hid her face into Maan's chest, her body started to shiver n sobs weren't far behind. Mujhe nahi jana. Jia been good.
Maan clutched her to himself n called her nanny. Take Jia to her room. Nanny took her away. Agonizing longing came over Jia's grandfather face but he smoothened it immediately.
You are not allowed here.
Jia is my granddaughter. You can't keep her away from me.
She is my daughter. Maan said on top of his voice, his eyes alight with anger. And you saw she doesn't want you either. She will be with me. You hear that?
Jia's grandfather seemed like he was swallowing his words, hardly. His teeth were gritted, at any cost he was going to meet his Jia today even if it meant fighting his way to her. She was a part of his daughter n he had every right on her.
Aap Jia se mil sakte hai. It was Geet's low voice breaking the silence and shocking everyone like chilled water thrown on face.
