PART VIII. MAAN GOES ROMANTIC!

Maan woke with a jerk as he stared around in confusion. Why was he feeling so happy today? He wondered. Suddenly, he remembered. Today was the day he was planning to woo Geet. He smiled as he remembered Dev's plan. Dev kehta hai ki ladkiyon ko discos mein jaana bahut pasand hai! So today I and Geet are of to Disco. There we will dance, spend some time together and then I will propose her when I will drop her home. He got up with excitement written on his face.

MISSION PROPOSE GEET PLAN NO. 1

Maan stood with Geet in a corner as both looked on uncomfortably. Maan had sent Pinky home with a bouquet of roses and a sorry card as per Dev's instructions. After seeing the flowers Geet had forgiven him and called him up. Maan was now sure that as Dev's plan for forgiveness worked his other plan of going to disco would also work. And hence, Maan had eagerly asked Geet to join him for going somewhere special. Geet had agreed and soon Maan picked Geet up in his car and brought her to one of the best discotheques in Dilli. And now here they stood in a corner looking around in confusion. The way people were dancing with their body parts touching each and everybody were enough to make Geet and Maan uncomfortable. Why did he thought that Disco was a good place for a date? Maan wondered.

Geet pinched Maan which made Maan howl. He turned to look at her only to see her glaring at him. She gave him a sweet smile and pointed the door to him. Then she gave him another pointed glare for good measure and stalked away. Maan swallowed. Ab maine kya kiya? He followed Geet and noticed her standing outside with arms folded across his chest glaring at him while tapping her feet on the floor. He gave her a smile but her glare did not lessen. "Uhhh... kya hua Geet?", he gave her his best smile that would have guaranteed to make many girls in his office swoon but it had no effect on Geet. She just continued to glare at him. Maan smiled in apology, "Atleast bataaogi ki meri galti kya hai?" Geet huffed and finally let loose her anger, "Galti? Aap mujhse poochte hain ki aapki galti kya hai? Aap mujhe Disco lekar aaye hain aur poochte hain ki galti kya hai? Aapne dekha nahi! Kaise naach rahe the woh log. Itna chipak chipak ke! Kaise matak matak ke! Aur kitne chote chote kapde pehne the! Chi!" She made a disapproving face. Maan wanted to smile at her antics but controlled it knowing very well that it would not go down well with her. She turned and glared at him, "Aur aap mujhe yahaan le aaye hain? Behetar hoga ki aap mujhe ghar hi chod dein!" She turned and stalked towards the car. Maan followed her with a kicked puppy look on his face. The whole drive Geet did not look at him and when they reached her house she just walked in without giving him one glance. Maan sighed; PLAN NO. 1 FLOPPED.

MISSION PROPOSE GEET PLAN NO. 2

Dev sighed as he took in the defeated look on Maan's face. Maan had just narrated the story of the whole evening to him. Dev shook his head and mumbled, "Bro! Ek plan flop gaya uska matlab yeh nahi ki aap itna sad ho jaao! Koi dekhega toh kahega ki Geet ki shaadi ho chuki hai isliye aap aise ho!" Maan gave him a glare and Dev smiled, "Dekho Bro! Relax! I have got another plan in my mind!" He explained his plan and Maan smiled.

Geet loked around in confusion. Hey Babaji! Yeh kaisi jagaa Maan mujhe le aaye? Earlier this evening, Maan had called her up asking her to come with him for a party. She had huffed and puffed but after a while his pleadings had wore down her resistance and she agreed. Dressed in a silver saree she waited for him. He came dressed in a black suit and she felt as if her Rajkumar was here to sweep her off her feet. How wrong she was! Maan had brought her to a party thrown by his client. While at first both stayed together meeting all sorts of unknown people; unknown for Geet that is, but soon Maan and her got separated and now it was three hours to their arrival and Maan was so busy with his clients, that he even forgot that Geet was in the party too. After a while, Geet had enough. She turned and marched away to hail a taxi. It was half hour later, when Maan remembered that Geet was with him. He searched for a while for her but she had vanished. He called her cell only for her to bark at him, "Mujhe aapse koi baat nahi karni! Jahannum mein jaayiye!" and then she cut the call. Maan sighed; PLAN NO. 2 FLOPPED.

MISSION PROPOSE GEET PLAN NO. 3

It was late night as Maan sat thinking about his next plan. It has been few days since the party incident and Dev had indicated that this might be the right time to implement a new one. And hence, here he was thinking over whether his plan was right or not. After the failure of the last two, he was a bit unsure of any new plan. But Dev had assured him that it would work. Dev's plan was simple; buy Geet a beautiful cake and then while eating it he should confess his feelings for her. Maan took a deep breath. This seemed a safe plan! Sab theek hojaayega Maan! He tried to assure himself and went to sleep.

Maan nervously adjusted his tie as he rang the bell of Manchanda House. He hoped Geet would not throw him out of the house after what he had done last time he implemented a plan. Dev had assured him that Geet's anger must have cooled down by now. Or not! Maan thought as the door opened and Geet glared at him. Maan gulped and looked around in confusion. What was he supposed to say? Dev had coached him on how to talk to a smiling Geet but he did not tell Maan how to pacify an angry Geet! But before he could say anything, Geet noticed the parcel in his hand and her eyes widened. Maan looked down to see what could have alarmed her only to notice that the cake was in a box which had the logo of the company. "Cake!", Geet squealed and Maan looked at her and smiled in relief. She was smiling! Dev was right; cake does dissipate anger of any lady. He absentimindedly noted in his mind to buy as much cake as possible if Geet ever geot angry at him after marriage. Before Maan could say something, Geet lunged at him and gave him a hug leaving Maan shocked. She pulled back and smiled at him, "Aapko yaad tha?" "Yaad...", Maan mumbled lost in the daze of her hug. Geet grabbed his hand and dragged him in excitedly, "Pinky! Dekh Maan ko tera birthday yaad tha aur tere liye cake bhi laaye hain!" PINKY! Maan looked at Geet horrified as she brought him in front of Pinky while Pinky looked at him eagerly. Maan smiled uneasily while handing over the cake to Pinky. Soon, he was standing by Geet singing Happy Birthday in a horribly off key manner along with the Manchandas and Geet. If anyone noticed Maan's horrible singing they preferred to ignore it which Maan was thankful for. As he sat on the sofa eating Cake, he realized that his PLAN NO. 3 had FLOPPED. Koi Nai! Atleast Geet ka ghusssa toh chala gaya!

MISSION PROPOSE GEET PLAN NO. 4

"Sachchi?", Dev asked all the while laughing loudly. Maan nodded and sighed miserably. He had just come home and Dev had asked the result of the plan. Maan narrated the whole story which Dev felt hilarious. After a while, when Maan felt annoyed at Dev's laughing he gave Dev a glare which effectively shut him. Dev sat beside Maan and sighed, "It's ok Bro! Hota hai kabhi kabhi aisa!" Maan huffed, "Kabhi kabhi hota hai Dev! Har waqt nahi! Lekin mere saath toh teeno plans flop hue hai!" Dev rolled his eyes but then brightened, "Another plan! Yeh final waala hai!" Maan looked at him warily but nodded after a while. After all what he had to loose!

Maan sat staring at Geet who in turn sat staring at the dish in front of her. According to Dev's plan, Maan had taken Geet to a candlelight dinner in a five star restaurant. There Maan was supposed to eat and dance with Geet before declaring his feelings for her. But the way Geet was looking at the dish, Maan felt that things were about to turn a very wrong way. Already, while coming here, many ladies had commented on Geet's attire which consisted of Salwar Kameez while those ladies wore high class dresses. Though Maan was not sure why they thought so highly of themselves, Geet was looking lot more beautiful than them but their behavior had upset Geet. And then the menu which was written in such a complicated jargon had confused her. And now she sat staring at the dish in front of her. Maan had a feeling that the volcano named Geet was going to erupt soon. And soon enough Geet looked up and glared at him, "Yeh kya hai Maan?", she whispered at him in harsh voice. Maan looked at the dish in question and looked back, "Dish...", he ventured a guess. Geet's eyes narrowed and she mumbled, "Ek toh itna kum diya hai ki ek bachche ka bhi pet na bhare aur upar se itna beswaad ki khaane ko bhi dil na kare! Yeh kaisi jagah laaye ho mujhe Maan?" Maan shrugged, "This is where people like me eat Geet! This is called class!" It took Maan a second to realize that he had almost insulted Geet; a second too late. Before he could say anything, Geet had vanished away. His mobile beeped and a message from Geet flashed, Main taxi le loongi! Aap apna classy khaana khaayiye!' Maan huffed and put a morsel of food in his mouth. He frowned and looked at the dish. Geet was right! This stuff is beswaad! PLAN NO. 4 FLOPPED! Ab main kya karoon? Maan wondered in confusion.
