Chapter 14

"I want Mamma. I want to go home." Veer whispered in Maan's ear.

Maan held him in his embrace and gave him a reassuring squeeze.

"Maan" Jay broke the silenece, but Maan ignored him. He picked up Veer and started walking toward the car.

"Maan, please listen to me." Pleaded Jay.

"You put my son's life in danger. What's there left to listen?" Maan said in a slow and stern voice. He was controlling himself because he didn't want to scare Veer any more.

"I'm really sorry, but I wasn't going to let them get away with Veer's kidnapping. What if they were planning something else?"

Maan didn't want to argue anymore and carried Veer to the car. Seeing Veer's condition, he decided to let Jay drive the car and he sat with his son. On the way, he also called and informed Geet and Daadi and their happiness knew no bounds.

Geet was over the Moon after Maan's call. They were eagerly waiting for Maan and Veer's return. Geet took out her phone to call Maan once again, when the doorbell rang. The door was instantly open by one of the servants, who couldn't sleeping either.

As soon as the door was opened, Veer jumped out of Maan's arms and rushed toward his mother. Geet knelt down and embraced him tight with tears still spilling from her eyes. They held on to each other like their lives depended on it. No one said anything as they all witnessed the reunion with tears in their eyes.

Meanwhile, Yash also woke up. His eyes located his father standing by the door, he instantly sat up and saw his mother and brother hugging. His brother was back and he was so happy. He couldn't contain his happiness and rushed to Maan to give him a big thank you hug.

Finally, it was Geet who broke the silence, "Are you okay baby?"

"Let me see you," she took his face in her hands, "did they hurt you?"

Geet checked him and saw the little cuts and bruises on his hands and knees. She kissed his hands, "Oh, my baby. I'm so sorry." And she hugged him again.

Maan cleared his throat and spoke, "hey champ, let me take you to your room. You must be tired." He picked Veer up to take him to his room.

"No, I want mamma." He held on to Geet's hand tightly.

"Yes, baby. I'm coming with you." She followed Maan to their room, where he sat Veer down on their bed. Geet also sat next to him.

After a while, the doctor enter the room and checked on Veer. He cleaned his wound and applied some ointment on it. He told Maan that other than the minor cuts Veer was okay. He was scared but they should try to keep him happy and he will be perfectly fine in a few days. Maan thanked the Doctor and escorted him out.

Maan went to check on Daadi and spent some time with her. Then he let her take some rest since he could see she was very tired. He then went to the kids' room and saw that both Yash and Aryaan were sleeping. He was about to turn off the lights when he heard Yash say, "Thanks, Dad"

"Hey buddy. Thanks for what?" Maan sat on the edge of his bed.

"For keeping your promise and bringing Veer back."

"I wasn't gonna let anything happen to him. And I won't let anything happen to any of you."

"I love you, dad. You are the best dad in the whole world." He kissed Maan on his cheeks and gave him a bear hug. Then Maan tucked him in and after making sure he was asleep, he came out of the room.

He was about to enter his room, when he heard Veer asking Geet, "Are they going to come back?"

"No baby." Said Geet and pulled him closer to her. "They won't come back."

"But I'm scared."

"You don't have to be. I'm here to protect you." Said Maan and sat next to them on the bed.
