It's true that change is the only thing constant in life, and this constancy is very important for every single person. But if we see the changes through a negative lense, it will do us no good. Instead it will just drag us down in a pit deeper than we can imagine. The same is the case with Maan. Even though he did think of it positively, the ever-present pessimism took over and now he's wallowing. Walking the same path to her hostel, he can't help but feel the chill of the air and how it's affecting him negatively. Had he been walking beside Geet in this very weather, his opinion and the weather's effects would have been totally opposite. It's strange how much important someone becomes for us to carry on in contentment.
The battle between ego and love is something which rages on and on, never seemingly ending. Just like the only danger to ego is love, the thing that is mostly affected due to ego is love. When words 'I', 'me', 'myself' and questions like 'why always me' or 'why should I', come more often, this is the first step to the destruction of love in any relationship, even if it is a silent, nameless bond. The way you explored both the sides of love and ego was wonderful. I could actually feel myself pulled between the two, as if I'm the one experiencing it all. And the song just added to the feel of Maan's hurt, his pain and his distress. If I only look at it all from Maan's perspective, I'll be a little angry with Geet for putting him through this. But no, I won't do that. Because I know the war Geet is fighting with herself, the fight between her own wishes and what she feels indebted to do. She isn't at fault and I can only sympathise with her own dilemma.
Poor Geet! Innocent students with genuine reasons for not showing up get yelled at because of those who make up excuses for their absence. Maan getting angry on hearing her getting shouted at was the victory of love over ego. Love conquers ego! That walk was all that was needed to calm my anxiety over their individual internal battles. It gave me relief, even though Geet will be going back to her village in some time, that they will have some sort of a connection. Glad that Maan took the opportunity to be in link with her through any means.
