Part 7
Geet applied in lots of colleges & finally with lot of persuasion from Dev she decided to do her phd. It was actually well thought plan from Dev. He was brought up in US & he knew how the fast pace life absorbs u into it. The most impt part being her freed from this place where she had to live the tag of widow!!.. a new place.. new life.. may be she will find her new Maan!!! bitter dream.. but now felt more acceptable!!

Coming to US has definitely changed her a lot she thought as she looked at her top to bottom in the long mirror. She had began to wear jeans most of the time with simple light colored shits mostly white. Her hair has grown couple of inches now. Still not long enough to tie up or fit in a style. Its been a yr now since she started doing her Phd. She had to work hard to get scholarship since they didn't have enough money to pay for her tuition fee. Dev was even ready to take a loan pledging the business & house but she didn't want them to. That was only thing they had left & it was difficult for Dev to get any job after spending a year in jail. Meera had her hands full with Maanav 2 now. It was better Dev took care of the business & supported the family.
Geet was able to manage herself with the salary she got from being a assistant in college. She did get a fee waver for the course. She still maintained a very low life, her desires & emotions where all in control with her disciplined life still. She had this frosty image that made her very undesirable & unapproachable.
But things where going to be difficult during the summer with college vacations. She won't have her job nor could she manage the hostel charges. She did have little bit saved up but that won't be enough. She had to look for a job & possible cheaper accommodation. Since winter she has been working on it, but winter was too early. Come spring she had to start a full fledged search. She was getting really worried, she did discuss it with Dev & he suggested her to come back home for the vacation. But Geet didn't want to burden him with travel charges which he was happily ready to sponsor cutting down on their luxuries back home.
With all efforts she managed to get herself a summer job. Now the question was accommodation. She still had a month in hand & she was happy that she got a job for herself atleast. She was rushing to take her train back to her hostel from the outskirts of the city after her interview & getting the appointment letter. She hurriedly glanced through the changing information board not able to make out her exact platform. She looked here & there.. & then reluctantly asked a stranger ' which platform does this train leave from
The man briefly looked at her & looked back into his news paper clearly stating he didn't want to be disturbed. Geet felt little shaken up. The cold stabbing glare was too harsh for her, not that she was not used to such glares but its been a while now. She shakily said a sorry & tried to help herself.
It was too late by the time she figured it out. The train was almost leaving the platform. She ran to the train before the sliding doors closed shut.
She managed to climb in but lost balance when the trains gained momentum. Thats when he held her hand firmly disgusted angered. She gulped her saliva after managing to get hold on herself & meekly said sorry & then thanks.. all confused. She took a deep breath to get control on self. She checked her belongings & was abt to settle in a seat & realized it was rt infront of him. She looked at him & immediately moved to a seat that was far away from his.
She was irritated don't know why. She placed her thick glasses in place to hide her eyes that where occasionally looking at him in annoyance. She took out her book & buried her face into it.

He thought women were good for nothing. All women were gold diggers. they were like leeches sucking ur blood out. Oh & Indian women they were a step ahead they could stoop to any level to get their way out. He had this biased image & couldn't stand a sight of opposite sex creature any where near him. Off course he knew they were "dangerously" any men's weakness especially with the sex factor!
Here he saw her smartly dressed surely an Indian.. not sure if she was born here but her accent gave away. Well if she was so smart why couldn't she figure it out herself which platform to take, it was not that difficult & why ask him of all the person.. because he looked attractive.. available & offcourse Indian!!. His calculative & prejudiced mind failed to realize she hadn't seen his face before seeking for help since it was buried in the news paper. Hence he just happily believed his so called theory that she was another pathetic women seeking attention.. & then ...
uff & then she almost fell if he had not held her then. He wanted to yell at her for trying to board a train like that but then his glare said it all.
**********
Through out the journey she was annoyed. It was strange she had never lost control of her emotions like this before. Forget losing she didn't even care. Infact she used to blame herself & here she was angry at him. She came back to her room & calmed herself with the meditation. Those eyes still haunted her. Wat was she even expecting a stranger to help when every one she knew only bruised her in every way possible.
